Would have thought the marketing opportunity for creatively using numbered ping-pong balls in Thailand was immense. Can think of few things more important to the fans of League clubs than the League Cup.

It's important to me as it means we get to play the Janner bumpkins again and beat them, eh Oaf

Lower case t ommy underscore lower case b! Bloody heck, ain't seen you around here for ages.

FYI, I actually started living in Bristol earlier this year, so I've been very much looking forward to a chance to see Argyle play City or Rovers. My only away game ever (besides the playoff final last year, but we don't talk about that) was at Ashton gate so I'm looking forward to going back there. And probably watching us lose there again.

I was hoping for a League Cup double-header but you appear to be playing on the same night that we visit Rovers. Actually, it would have been a SW triple header coz we're at St James Park on the first Saturday.

Hiya :)

Looking at my previous posts, it's been a couple in the past year. So a few in two days is positively hectic.

I have to miss our first two league games of the season so have actually paid to attend this game to compensate. I will wave in the away fans direction at you. I'd guess it is a "big day out" for your lot and you may bring a decent number?

Pah, we bring a decent number everywhere we go (Still got the biggest away attendance in the history of the Emirates stadium don't you know?)... a quick 2 hour trip up the road would bring a nice crowd of Argyle fans no matter what the occasion.

But we're a big draw, admit it.

It's weird to think our last game was Gary Johnson's last in charge, back after we'd gone close but failed to reach the Premier League.
It doesn't seem that long ago but you've visited a million different grounds since then in your tour of the lower leagues!

I think any time our away fans get the chance to only travel two hours it's a big draw  So yeah, it's basically a local derby to us.

It was amusing at Watford Gap services yesterday - our supporters coach pulled in and parked right next to the Brentford supporters coach! Quick football chat in the toilets!! See you on Tuesday!

Accrington away, our squad is pretty huge at the moment so expecting a lot of changes from Saturday.

I'd go for:

Maxwell

Vermijl, Boyle, Davies, O'Connor

Gallagher, Welsh, Browne

Mavididi, Hugill, Horgan

Will be telling if the likes of May, Doyle, Grimshaw and Pringle don't feature, rumours Aberdeen are back in for May.

We're away at Sheffield Wednesday. Nice and local for the fan but expect us to make a few changes from the poor result on Saturday.

How was it?

I met some people who had come up from Plymouth and managed to mock them for having to travel 2 hours each way to watch that. So you know, I had that going for me.

Blegh though. We played a B team against higher league opposition. Didn't take a genius to see where that was going

Where's all your fans, though? Do they just turn up to nap? How the fuck did a team 5-0 down manage to completely outsing a team 5-0 up? Or was this just a game that all of the mums take their kids too, because nobody really gives a fuck about seeing Argyle?

Even at £11 a pop, no-one was that bothered. I went for the novelty of sitting in the Lansdown (to your right) as opposed to my ST (stand on left). I think I was surrounded by Plymouth fans/neutrals.

Ultimately, winning 5-0 in what is basically a glorified pre-season friendly? It's hard to get much enthusiasm and it did feel flat from the 2nd goal onwards.

Mick has confirmed that as we only have 8 fit first team players in our entire squad due to the injury/sickness crisis, we will be fielding none of them tomorrow night against Palace as none can be risked for Saturday. It will be the youngest side he has ever fielded in 25 years of management, possible average age being as low as 18/19.

Quite incredible how short we are, but don't blame him one bit. Never known a situation like it.

We are playing Ulloa and Slimani together. Should be good news for Sheff Utd cos they never look good as a pair.
Amartey at CB is ok, better than rb which I'm assuming Chilwell will play.
Musa and Gray on either wing means we have lots of pace out wide, though neither are great crossers of the ball, so not sure they'll feed the front 2.
Maybe need them to be greedy and go for goals themselves.

Well we edged past Birmingham 2-1, we do love beating them at St Andrews for some reason.

Moment of the night has to be a clearance off the line from Tyrone Mings, sprinting back to cover a Brum attacker who'd rounded Boruc and had the goal at his mercy. Mings backheels the ball off the line and smashes head first into the stanchion behind the goal net. Looks knocked out for a moment, both medical teams on. Surprisingly he was ok and allowed to continue playing.

You're nothing special we lose every year!

2017 - Bristol City (h)

2016 - Gillingham (h)

2015 - Preston (a)

2014 - Doncaster (h)

2013 - Norwich (h)

2012 - Bradford City (h)

2011 - Bristol Rovers (a)

2010 - Notts County (h)

2009 - Leeds United (a)

2008 - Tottenham (h)

That is our record in the past 10 years in the league cup. We have had two relative successes losing against then Premier League Norwich in the 3rd round and making the quarter-finals against Tottenham. Apart from them two we have lost to lower league opposition in either round or two, it's got completely ridiculous.

We didn't even play an obviously weakened team today, we just played awful.

No shock there was only 9000 there today.

Well done City.

Deserved to win - more clinical when the chances came and generally defended well when under pressure.

We might as well not bother next year !

As Horns says it was strong side too!

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Bristol Rovers

Burnley v Leeds

Arsenal v Doncaster Rovers

Brighton at home in both the league and now cup in the space of a few days.

They may as well stay in the town and enjoy a proper beach.

Same, but with Boro at home (twice in 7 days) and no beach.
