We are allegedly linked with Connell Rawlinson from TNS in Wales. Yet another centre back to go with the 18 we have signed .
I guess he is used to winning seeing as they win the League by 30 points every season so he will find things different at Vale !!!
Our local rag have ran an article today on this but seeing as the window is shut it is probably tripe.

So Luton spent around £200k in the January window, but turned down £2.5m in bids.

Fantastic resolve.

Is it stupid though considering we’ve already taken in £3-4m in the last 12 months? was from Tuesday night CEO’s programme notes
I’d rather have the money tbh. You keep producing talent so what’s the point in not selling?

Thinking is probably keep the team together for the rest of the season and then sell in the summer when we have more time to replace those players which is pretty much the strategy from what we did last summer which seems to have worked to good effect.

If people are bidding those sorts of figures now then there will be interest there in the summer more than likely, especially if those players play a role in us getting promoted.

The interested in someone like James Justin for instance is definitely not going to go away and we are in a position to be able to sell at a more opportune time for us.

chicken or the egg kenny???
would man city be were they are now without the bank balance??
just asking like.....

No, but they didn't have to sell all their talent to get there. If you always sell your talent rather than use it to improve the clubs league position you never end up achieving anything. Ask Crewe. If you don't need the money then I don't know why you wouldn't just keep them and see what happens!

teams dont hang around nurturing talent anymore...promotions and cups are won buy buying the best you can ,when you can...in the main
home grown talent is a short term view to payrolling the long term aim....speculate to accumulate...
who was it who said you cant win anything with kids??

But aren't Luton doing that at the same time? I must admit to not being an expert on League Two so much this year, but signing Collins and Berry (I'm sure there are others) in addition to keeping their produced talent seems very much like a case of making the most of their situation?

i am not denying that we have made the most of our actractability in enticing players who see us also as a stepping stone to a higher level...good business has been done...dog eat dog....

I wouldn't say we are doing both this season. With one notable exception (James Justin), we have largely sold off our youth talent before they make an impact on our first team. So we have got a fair chunk of change from doing that to fund getting in proven League 2 quality in players like Berry/Collins. Its a shame that we haven't kept more I think but it has by and large worked out for us.

Personally i think the economics are all out of whack if a totally unproven youth player is fetching more than say Luke Berry (figures are undisclosed of course so maybe take that with some salt but they wont be far off) who is a proven, top quality player for this level and likely the one above also. Half these youth kids you never hear of again.

We have also done well recently in taking younger players who had a bit of talent but not had the break yet, like McGeehan, Marriott, Vassell, and improving them before selling them off.

It will be interesting to see what County fans think of this ?. They were quite against Miller going there with his reputation .
Miller is a saint compared to Ranger .

I don’t think that many fans were against Miller. After all, we employed Lee Hughes.

I expect we will see the return of Leon Best rather than ranger

We've signed Stuart Nelson until the end of the season after Artur Krysiak was ruled out by injury. Decent signing to back up Johnny Maddison.

Weirdest transfer rumour of the season here, The Sun reckon that we've offered Diego Capel £15k a week to pitch up until the end of the season. :bye:

10k per week and 5k per appearance apparently. What happened to his career? I thought at one point he was supposed to become one of the best players in the world. Would be fun to have him in League Two.

They’ve obviously just decided to make something up from Hardy saying that we’ve spoken to a Spanish free agent. Would be hilarious, though.

Not a transfer rumour or anything, but thought Grimsby and Mansfield fans might like to know that it sounds like Nathan Arnold will be retiring at the end of next season. He's been talking to our local paper about his Salford move (and I don't think he's overly impressed with the set-up there or them) and seems to be indicating he'll move into teaching.

Salford's messageboard reckon that they've cancelled Arnold's loan and he's back with us again.

Gary McSheffrey and Andrew Fox (who played left-back for Michael Jolley in Sweden) both training with us at the minute. Both are free agents so could be signed on.

Carl Baker rejoins Coventry. If he is fit he could be vital in us getting promoted. 2 promotions in 3 seasons with MK and Pompey. He feckin loves the club as well.
