However, some of his actions are a bit mystifying.

He certainly likes to plough his own furrow, just look at what he was wearing on the way down to Stevenage. Sometimes this works well, sometimes not so well, but there are lots of managers who have become successful by taking these kinds of risks too.

I'd say the oddest (and perhaps most disagreeable) thing about his management style is his attitude to player fitness. His view seems to be that unless you're 100% fit, you're not in the picture... even 99% fit and you won't even make the bench. But he's done a decent job and as you say, found some good players if we all just forget that Iliev and Spiegel ever happened.

I seem to remember Curle masterminding a playoff campaign with Mansfield the season after an unfortunate relegation from League One.

Also think he was unfairly sacked by Notts County but their ethos is to sack a manager every season.

We should have been top 3 at the very least with the squad we had that season! Best side I've seen and probably ever likely to see at Field Mill!

Sorry to be a dick, but....
I was having a read of those myself a week or so ago. What a collosal failure these past few months must have been for Tranmere, lots of fans seemed nearly certain that they would stay up quite comfortably back then.

Remember when we were after Lawrence after his record breaking season at Mansfield there. If Sunderland didn't come sniffing I genuinely think we could've become a top half Championship side with his addition.

Keeping hold of Potts and Dempsey has been a big thing for us. With the new additions I'd expect us to improve, not immediately but in a month or so once the signings settle and stay up.
I told you

I think from York onwards everyone will be easily safe, realistically they only need a win or so each, and I can't see any of them not winning again this season.

Cheltenham are on the verge of the drop now, can't see them escaping.

So the final spot is going to be one of Tranmere, Hartlepool or Carlisle. I think it will be Tranmere as they have a difficult run in.
Called it. Had a feeling Tranmere would drop from March onwards.

We'll see next season, but all i'll say is both applied for our job so we've had our choice of the two and you've ended up with Moore...

I wouldn't have wanted Curle,so we both seem happy with our respective managers.Ronnie had a lot less time than Curle to turn our clubs around.
Someone posted Moore is too old school, maybe, but we tried the new school approach with Colin Cooper & it was a complete disaster.

We tried new school with Graham Kavanagh, never again I hope. Takes some doing to have one of the bigger budgets in the league and then manage a grand total of 2 points from the first 5 games. Experience all the way now hopefully, especially for a relegation fight.

By old school/new school I didn't mean experienced/inexperienced, I was thinking more in their methods. For example Neil McDonald is what I'd class as new school in the way he approaches training, style of football etc. that's why I wanted him not Moore.

Reckon if West Ham got rid of Allardyce and McDonald we could probably have another crack at him. He'd probably be a better option than Curle if we're going for promotion, although that's not to say we should just sack Curle willy nilly if we can't get McDonald.

Literally nothing's gone our away the past few seasons and relegation out of the league is the icing on the cake.

Do the fans deserve it? No. Do the two teams who suffered both relegations deserve it? Yup, certainly this season's. Do the two managers who took both teams down deserve it? Absolutely. Did our previous owner/structure deserve to go down? Yes. Do our current owners? No.

Basically we were top of League One on a poor budget with a first 11 of quality and a dire bench under Ronnie, and then an FA Cup tie with Chesterfield changed it. Our two best players Ben Gibson and James Wallace got injured and only Gibson came back and that was in April when we'd fallen away. Jake Cassidy was banging them in and then he left in the January and his own form has never recovered. We lost important players and the board didn't replace them adequately and Ronnie fell away. Peter Johnson did a lot of good for us 20 years ago but his disinterest cost us the last few years and we were decaying until Mark and Nicola Palios took over the club at the end of August last year.

He struggles the following year but we're 18th when he's suspended leading to the sacking and Johnson leaves a clown caretaker in charge who took us down. He appoints two non-footballing people (Mick Horton and Jeremy Butler) to be in charge of footballing affairs, they appoint Edwards and they decide the style of play without factoring in you have to adapt to League 2. We were never prepared and the Palios duo came in too late for us to get going this season.

They get Micky Adams in and back him with cash and he fucks it up. Ultimately, Micky's taken us down. But if Johnson had stabilised our fall before handing over to Palios by appointing an experienced League 2 manager to keep us ticking, we'd be all set to go on a fun ride next year. Alas, our appalling, appalling bad luck saw the change of ownership happen too late to prevent our problems.

Next season is the Palios project's first full year. Their pre-season, their plans, their everything. Getting Adams in and throwing some money was their way of saving us and Micky absolutely failed big time, the relegation's on him with an absolute disaster given the players he signed had credible reputations in the Football League.

We've got to have a good season because many of our fans only know losing football and feeling miserable at 5pm on a Saturday. We've been awful from 2009 onwards to be honest, Hartlepool fans will big up Ronnie and rightly so, to have us top on January 26 2013 in League One on 56 points with a £1.4m budget was a remarkable effort and if he'd had interested owners, we may have finished what we started.

Given attendances, how have you ended up with such a low budget in L1 and L2?

Think we were losing 1m a year, and PJ had lost all interest in us by this point anyway. He wasn't going to give us one penny more than he could towards the budget the last few seasons. Johnson may well have saved us from non - league 30 years ago, but it's thanks to him we're down here now.

2003/04? Remember seeing you boys down at Plainmoor, one of the most entertaining 1-0's I've seen!

Sigh, the good old days..

So do we.
To be fair to Peter Johnson, he didn't personally do it. He employed a company to act as a 'selling agent' (or some other pompous jargon) and they ended up doing it. Their defence was 'it was a publicity stunt to attract interest'. Well, it did that alright.

While I don't think we can quite match being put on eBay for tinpottedness we were for sale back around the millennium and there was a lot of fanfare around a new investor, but when he was invited to Brunton Park to meet people he arrived in a taxi and turned out to be a waiter from a curry house in Hawick on the wind up

Hartlepool have probably got the nicest run-in, and they're the side in form so I'd say they will be ok.

As above, I think Cheltenham are gone. Both Tranmere and Carlisle have then got two really big games left each - Oxford and Mansfield for Tranmere, Hartlepool and Dagenham for Carlisle. Those fixtures will probably swing it between which of those two joins Cheltenham, of which Carlisle's are both at home which could prove an advantage as, apart from against the top ten, your home record against the rest of the division is very good.

Cheltenham and Tranmere to drop.

If we're all doing this whole quoting old posts thing then, ahem.

We've lost 8 of our last 9 games and still managed to survive!!

Are Mansfield fans generally happy that Adam Murray is going to be there next season? Havnt seen anything to convince me he is gonna make you better, granted with what I am guessing are Cox's players.

This really i don't care about play offs or promotion, We just need to get away from this stigma of hoofball. A midtable finish and nice football will be a decent season imo.

That's almost the definition of shithousing survival... the one team you beat being Tranmere :p

Although to be fair you did go on a decent run to give yourself the cushion that allowed you to completely collapse in the last couple of months.
