I don't understand why he's giving Tranmere so much shit, surely they are going to finish above exter?

Hugely impressive run they are on. When we play them on Easter Monday I'll be happy with a point currently!

Cracking weekend for us, feels like a decent step closer to promotion.
Hell of a season for you guys too. As much as I joke about the Lincoln bandwagon, it's great to see how the locals have caught the bug. Sure you'll hold your own in L1.

I do hope so, last time was very brief and poor.
Very different times now, scored a couple of crackers today, especially the second.
On our support it was getting families to go, so many go now. Hopefully they'll keep going if we hit a sticky patch in league one next season.

Thought Crawley didn't look arsed for long periods, especially for the third goal which was too easy.

Second goal is excellent, to compare it to Maradona would be hyperbole but you get what I mean.

Haha! Now I know you're just trolling, did you just pluck Weston out of the air because it's the only other place in Somerset you could think of? Oh mate...
No. It's because they're genuinely your main rivals? Why are you trying to hide the fact your main rivals are a tiny irrelevant club? Are you embarrassed? You should be.

Tbh you had a good go with Weymouth back in the day.

Also you've been in non-league more recently than us, our ground is bigger than yours...that makes you a lot more tinpot.
Shall we really compare history's? We are an established football League club. League 2 is about our level. Yours is conference/ conference south. Don't pretend this is your level ffs

How can a team's level be Conference South when that level has only been in existence for 15 years or so. Especially as Yeovil have been a Football League team for all of the time that level has existed.

This raises the question again of natural levels. How long does a team have to be in the Football League for that to be considered their natural level - we've been a Football League team for 19 of the last 20 years. I think it's fair to say that at least half of our support have only known us as a Football League team. When does it change?

I'm 34 and have only ever known Wycombe as a Football League team, but they've only been in the league since the early 90s so is non-league still their natural level?

Frankly, it's all bullshit from fans of teams who got by on surviving re-election year on year and now not liking the fact that "traditionally" non-league teams have a proper entry to the Football League.

As for our game yesterday, we were mustard, Northampton weren't brilliant, Luke Varney is brilliant and Dean Bowditch's free-kick was a fantastic hit.

The Mid-Table trophy is on it's way back to Whaddon Road.

Did you listen to it? I thought it sounded like an alright match. Battled hard for a point and kept the best attacking side in the division at bay. Ahkeem and Vernam sounded very lively when they came on. Interesting that Dennis didn't get a look in either. I got red crossed to shit on The Fishy for saying I didn't rate him when he signed and I'm sticking to that. Give Rose starts from now until the end of the season for me.

Absolute knobheads cheering when Thomas got taken off too. Probably the same idiots that drove Toto away.
Nah I was just going off Twitter updates at half time and it made it sound like nothing had really happened with no real chances.
Didn’t know some of our fans had cheered Thomas going off what a bunch of cretins.

Ask Wrexham. They insist they’re still a football league club in all but name :fl:

It’s flawed to the point that XG is based on average goals scored from distances. The XG for scoring from 15 yards is half the rate Norwood is converting them at for us.

It does highlight Port Vale as a huge anomaly too.

Our defensive record is excellent really, 14 clean sheets and best away defence...

Shows how bad our scoring has been though to be in the position we are with that back line record!

We sit bang in the middle of all of them, 12th in the league, 15 wins/16 defeats and on -1 GD (thanks to a 90th minute Mansfield goal). I hope we can even out the latter two stats by the end of the season. I salute Artell for making us completely average after 5 years of dross.

Why is that an anomaly? They have the 8th best defence in terms of goals conceded, so to see them trend towards the lower end of the shots faced category isn't that surprising.

I do agree about the first point though, it doesn't reward the skill of the goal scored, only the distance. I do generally find it's accurate though bar the odd exception.

Yep, it's a nice feeling to be average and not feel completely shit about the club, on the pitch at least.

It seems to value Port Vale well overall where they’re in a relegation fight? Graphs would suggest they should be mid table. Maybe I’m misreading it

Most games we lose are by the odd goal, aside from a couple of games so stats wise the games are generally fairly close, we are on a knife edge between poor and doing well... sadly we've generally fell the wrong side of it.

The way I read it from the top to bottom is that they take as many shots as they face. Now, that doesn't speak for the quality of the chances, just that they seem pretty even.

The 2nd graph tells most of the story as to why they are near the bottom. Their attacking effectiveness is dreadful. They can't convert despite creating enough chances.

The 3rd says they are pretty solid defensively, which is pretty accurate. The 4th says that given the chances they create, they should have scored more than they have. Which again I think tells their entire issue. They seem to create chances and good ones at that. But they can't convert them. Which I'm sure Vale fans on here would back up.

Them stats are probably covered by the Morecambe game alone! Enough chances to win 5 games but lost without scoring...

If we had a goalscorer aside from Pope (and he hasn't been fit since November and hasn't been in form either) we would be nowhere near the bottom... but we don't!

Same for a lot of the teams down near the bottom to be fair. A goalscorer can mask a lot of the teams issues.

Cheltenham for us today. Bit of a banana skin potentially, but then we got back on track at home in our last game and we haven't really had much of an issue beating the teams who struggle on the road. Still, they've got a few goals in their team from familiar faces in Luke Varney and Billy Waters, so it probably won't be easy.

Would be disappointed if we don't win this to be honest, got the confidence back after a poor run and there is still stuff to play for.

We just need to win ONE of these big home encounters. If we do it will give us the boost too get over the play-off line. Other wise it screams, your good, but not that good, which I would have gladly taken at the start of the season, but now it looks like were so close to an oportunity, it actualy feels like were letting that slip away some times. Never satisfied I suppose! None the less, the boys have done very well. Come on, you can do it!

I hate looking at the table and then the fixtures at this time of year. I start coming up with unrealistic predictions. For instance if we beat Cheltenham today and FGR lose Vs MK were only 5 points behind them with a few more favourable fixtures to come and a home game Vs FGR.

Qué a home defeat today, it's the hope that kills you.

Cambridge would be pissing this tinpot league if we had a goalscorer...

Energetically wasteful in attack, pushovers in defence. A fitting epitaph for the season.

I genuinely believe Cheltenham will be very hard to break down today, as they always have seemed to be these last few years after the fair few tonkings we dished out to them home and away (two 4-0s and an 8-1 come to mind) a long time ago, but I can see us nicking a 1-0 win today which I'll take all day long.

Season is over if we lose today. Only place I reckon we can afford a slip up is our usual bogey ground at Swindon where we'll no doubt lose yet again. But it's a very favourable run of fixtures after today with three very poor sides at the bottom in Vale, Notts and Yeovil to come in our next three games.

We’re playing for 10th so I don’t think it’d be the end of the world or our season would be over (any more than it I already) with a defeat. But I’d love us to push on and consolidate a top half/10 position and the next four or five games is a massive chance to do it. Having missed the Crawley game, I wouldn’t mind a few goals today.

Tbh you had a good go with Weymouth back in the day.

You know full well we've never had any history with Weston. Exeter's main rivals are Tiverton though so there you go.

Sounds like the crowd at Huish Park is at least 60% up on the average and the atmosphere is very positive. A good first starting XI from Marmon with two academy lads getting a place, Rogers and Oji. Come on Yeo, harness the good feeling and do the business on the pitch.
