Sounds like McNulty is off to Reading for £1.2-£1.5m. Frustrating as now means we're in desperate need of a goal scorer, but wasn't overly convinced that he'd do the business at this level and certainly not convinced he's anywhere near Championship standard. Will need to find a replacement quickly.

I agree. As much as I like McNulty, I find this move and the fee to be quite staggering. He's a good lower league player but it looks like Clement has seen something the rest of us haven't. Time will tell.

If you get Chaplin then good luck to him. He's crying out for a manager who believes in him and Mark Robins could be the one as his own physique and playing style was pretty much identical to Chaplin's. As has been said earlier in the thread, I hope it's a season-long loan rather than permanent!

The McNulty thing is hard to believe considering we sold Wells for a similar amount in similar circumstances.

Luton fans, what is Akin Famewo like?

Got badly bullied at Chesterfield in his one and only first team League start last season.

Mind you, Nathan Jones did put out a very weakened team as part of his squad rotation over the festive period, and Famewo didn't get a whole lot of support that day.

If we sign Ben Nugent this week as suggested then we will have swooped you one right back who is not up to league 1 for an apparent CB who you feel the same about.
Fuller will give you one hundred percent but has lost pace is often out of position and is prone to an error.
Unless you've actually signed him and he dropped out, Nugent has been in Spain the last week with us.

I'm not sure if triallists fits into this thread.

Town are in Spain this week for a pre-season training camp and have three triallists with them.

Nick Townsend, a goalkeeper who was released by Barnsley this summer and Jake Kean, an experienced goalkeeper who was most recently with Sheffield Wednesday.

Devonte Redmond, a young midfield player just released by Man Utd who had a spell on loan at Scunthorpe last season. He looks technically gifted based on Man Utd under-21 video footage but whether he could transfer that into the hustle and bustle of League 1 is difficult to say.
We had Townsend a few years back on loan and I thought he'd carve out a good career in L1 but he went to Barnsley and has probably wasted the last three years or so on the bench.

Interesting I was only told a few hours ago we were still signing him. Never know who to believe.

McNulty signed for Reading last Friday.

We are after Connor Chaplin from Portsmouth as his replacement.

Rumoured to be in for Ched Evans. Questionable as to whether he could still cut it - although he did relatively well in a poor Chesterfield side.

Us, Charlton, Shrewsbury and Gills apparently keen on Bury’s Stephen Dawson. Relegation clause activated, and would subsequently leave on a free.

In addition to Franck Moussa, we have Dean Cox on trial. Those two 3 or 4 years ago would've been superb in the same side, but an awful lot has happened since. If they can prove fitness and we can get a decent deal then I'd happily take both.

Karl Robinson has openly said we are after Sam Smith from Reading on a season long loan. There is competition though for him.

Looks like Coventry have a 2nd bid for Chaplin turned down. Apparently a few league one clubs looking to bid. Bit of a bidding war at the moment.

It’s been reported that we’re about to sign Ali Crawford from Hamilton. Don’t know much about him but the Scottish press have reported that he’s a decent creative midfielder who would be a top signing for most Scot prem sides.. (granted that doesn’t mean a great deal )

What's Jordan Houghton like Donny fans? Signed for us on a two year deal earlier.

He was great for us In league 2. Played as a holding midfielder and was very consistent, 7 or 8 out of 10 every week. He then got a bad injury a few weeks from the end of the season. He returned this season and didn’t look the same player. It didn’t help that fergy played him on the right hand side of a diamond in midfield for the majority of the time. Be interesting to see how he gets on. If he can find his form from 2 years ago he will be a top signing for you in league 2.

All fur coat, no knickers. He'll look good on the ball, but he offers nothing in reality with either goals or assists, not surprising as his crossing was shocking when he bothered to cross. Wouldn't be the end of the world, but he lacks any decent pace for a wideman, and he gets knocked over by a gush of wind. His only positive was his dribbling.

That said he seems a nice lad and good luck to him, but glad we didn't entertain the idea of getting him back.

Luton fans might be more complimentary.

We had him season before last, but tried to shoe horn him into our diamond formation as a central midfield player where, in my view he was very ineffective, although had the odd flash of technical proficiency.

He seemed an out and out wide player, quite lightweight, decent technically but with little/no end product from what I can recall.

You can tell Gilliead’s got talent but he is pretty inconsistent. He has the odd game where he beats men and gets to the byline all game and you’re a bit like why the feck doesn’t he do this every week.

Most Crawley fans will not be able to hide their disappointment over the Dean Cox affair. He was by far our biggest wage and it was never justified.

Cruciate ligament kept him out of the Orient side that were relegated to the National league. He had a pre-season and then released by Orient in September. Crawley sign him but can't play him until January. He plays the remainder of the season but is not really as good as he once was. Another pre-season and we all think he will definitely do the business but a couple of lack lustre displays and he disappears. Sitting in the stands and asked if he is fit and he says yes but he doesn't even make the bench. Rumours circulate of a stress related illness and apart from a FL trophy game he is never seen again.

Apparently, he now has a therapist now who is "brilliant". I don't wish him ill but he was a complete waste of money from a Crawley point of view.

Now confirmed we have signed Ali Crawford from Hamilton... also got Paul Taylor playing for us in a friendly tonight. Think he was at Bradford last season. Another player who looks injury prone.

Football wise he’d walk into a lot of L1 sides, it’s his ‘personal problems’ that are the issue, scored about five worldies for us last season.
