Our midfield options at the moment are Reeves, Vincelot, a load of yoofs who never play and Wright and Dieng if they sign. Where's the strength? Not even complaining really, just a sign of where we will be aiming this season.

We’re in May, son.

Does seem a strange strategy to begin by bringing in back-up players, though?

We've signed Regan Charles-Cook who is apparently a midfielder. Worked with Lovell as a kid, and I trust his judgement.

Could potentially be a good little signing. Made a few first team appearances for us but I couldn’t really tell you too much about him.

Think he impressed during his loan spells in the NL and supposedly he turned down a new contact with us so we obviously wanted to keep hold of him.

Already sounds better than reports we had on any of our signings from last summer - cheers

Second signing of the summer imminent - no clues as to who, but I hope we get Callum Reilly over the line sooner rather than later.

Thats a shame, kind of hoped we would be in for him again, given we cant really rely on McCormack to play week in week out.
You and Coventry seem to have been mentioned as a couple of other sides in the long list who wanted him, but Posh have come straight in and matched his release clause.

Josh Wright is an average league 1 player. He is a very good passer of the ball and a decent athlete, but to balance that his tackling and defensive awareness is horrific.

His main issue is that his passing is mainly done from deep taking the ball off the defence, but that leaves him in a holding role where his faults get exposed time and time again.

If he needs to track a runner he will stop and point, if we should jockey and slow down an attack he lunges in. If he needs to go and win a tackle he follows a non threatening runner leaving the player on the ball a free shot at goal. He then shouts at the defence for letting in a goal and our fans lapped it up (badge thumping stuff etc).

He showed he could score a goal from a knockdowns or pens in his best season with us, but don't be fooled by his POTY award. He was the best of a very very bad bunch that year.

Getting him further up the pitch would be the best bet, with a mobile holding midfielder behind him. We had Dack during his time with us, so he was never going to get that role.

Agree 100% with that but would add that after heroically scoring three pens in the same match he proceeded to miss every one he took afterwards including a last day effort that could have relegated us. He also has no pace whatsoever and I am pretty sure he was one of our highest earners.

If you sign him he will immediately tell the fans he loves your club

This could be Billy Knott, from one of his fan boys at any clubs he's played for.

Yeah, well we had Billy Knott too on loan and most wouldn't have him back. Parrett on the other hand is an honest, hard-working and creative player who does his share of defensive duties when asked. Ardley will be out of a job by Christmas if he persists in binning off anyone with a bit of spark who helped get us out of the shit we were landed in by identikit midfield wardrobes like Soares and Trotter.

Josh Wright is very mehhh never gonna set the world alight.

Alex Woodyard looked well below what was required when he was here yes that was ages ago but interesting to see how he performs no longer playing for the Cowley's and now playing for that nice bloke Steve Evans.

Why Ardley seems to have done a very good job with you guys, getting you promoted and keeping you here, until you get your new stadium I'd say it's above your ceiling. Some also said the same about Parkinson, when he dropped the likes of Knott and Cole, but he was usually right. Some of our fans to this day want Knott back, other than been a nice lad I can't see why. It reminds me of the Knott situation because he named a specific game (Wigan away) with Knott it was Leeds with us. Managers usually know better than fans, if he wasn't getting picked there was probably a good reason for it.

Ruben Lameiras (under contract) linked with Reading and Sheffield Utd.

Sonny Bradley (out of contract) linked with Barnsley and Luton (again).

Very likeable Billy Knott as a person, top work rate, he just gives it away too often to get himself further up the league ladder.

All those crying over Parrott have forgotten Ardley tried to get rid of him last season but no one wanted him. He was not fancied and then injured this season. TBF he did well last part of season when he came back in. Ardley did not rate him. Parrott is decent on the ball and works hard. Does not track back or follow team instructions well which is why Ardley does not like him. I don't mind shaking the squad up a little. Parrot is another Jake Reeves or Billy Knott. Fully replaceable if you do your homework..

Thought as much when I saw the comment, could easily have been one of our fans talking about Knott. Makes me laugh how professional experienced managers apparently know nothing compared to "Keith" down the pub who rates the "baller".

I know very well Ardley didn't fancy him. Never has, which is odd since he signed him. Think it's probably mutual if you read the dig Parrett has at him in his interview on the Gills site - "having sat down with the manger I saw the passion was there and I wanted to play for him."

What's so weird about Ardley is that most of his career was playing for a side overflowing with character and passion, punching above its weight and never once hiding behind the fact we had less money than anyone else. Yet as manager he's turned the budget into a religious mantra to be chanted at every opportunity - "we can only afford shit players" is hardly a rallying cry and vote of confidence for those there now or an attractive message to prospective players. Summer transfer dealings last year were so dreadful I'm not sure where any confidence that anyone can be replaced adequately comes from. I'm done with him. Boring man who shows no sign of learning from past cock-ups and makes watching football boring.
