Rotherham have agreed to loan us David Ball, should the EFL approve.

It's only emergency loans now isn't it? (and I think that only applies to keepers).

I think Bradford and Rotherham agreed the deal before Friday deadline but hasn't been ratified either way as yet.

Clubs can still sign players who aren't registered with another club can't they?

David Ball officially signed. Good player that won't see the ball like the rest of our forwards sadly.

We’ve signed David Stockdale on an emergency loan and he will be playing today against Posh. Thank god for that

We are apparently signing an attacking player at some point this week. Probably Simon Dawkins who was on trial a few weeks ago. Interested to hear if anyone knows of any other attacking players available at the moment though.

Probably hitting home that not getting another attacking player in was a mistake as well as injuries beginning to pile up with the big loan signing of O’kane not working out. Our transfer business over the summer seems very odd to me in hindsight.

A bit like our first season back in L2, you have to trust the players that got you there in the first place. Luton have more than trusted them, because not many are on 1-year deals now and as such, not much room for much of a clear out next summer.

I think our summer trading was OK, Bradley is starting to settle down now and should be an upgrade on Cuthbert. Grant has bags of potential and is one of our best players. Not signing a striker was a massive mistake.

Finishing mid table is certainly progress on last season and certainly the seasons preceding it - gradual progression. The faster they rise, the quicker they fall right?

Was more referring to what we didn’t get than what we did really who all seem to be settling in now. We’ll see about the centre halves, still not entirely convinced by them and together they certainly don’t fit how we like to play but they do seem to be settling better after these last 2 games.

The lack of another striker is puzzling, especially when it became clear Jervis wasn’t going to improve. Hylton hasnt been right since about February so that really should have been looked at before now.

Then not signing a DM to cover the perma crocked McCormack is just really bad planning for me. Rea is ok and does a decent job there but for me isn’t a league 1 level defensive midfield player, when he inevitably gets suspended who plays there if McCormack is still injured (a highly likely scenario I would suggest).

Could also argue a keeper might have been a need as well given Stech looks injured and had been dropped anyway.

So supposedly the guy we are signing is Kazenga LuaLua, as he played in a reserve game last week but a few names have been mentioned.

I was surprised to see he was only 27. Could’ve been worse I suppose.

Kind of fits what with Jones/Brighton connection he has. But he is a winger which isnt really what we need. Thought he was older than 27 too I must say.

Confirmed that we have signed Kazenga Lua Lua. No idea what to expect from him as he seems to be a wide player and therefore doesn’t fill any need we have, we will likely either shoehorn him into the midfield diamond or convert to a striker most likely. Provides a bit of pace which we lack a bit.

Last seen at Sunderland so I guess he didn’t really cover himself in glory!

An odd signing that one. Probably more a case of there not being many players available as well as NJs connections with Brighton as stated by others. Also surprised he is only 27. Seems to have been around a while and played an important part in Brightons promotions. Not surprising he was surplus to requirements when Brighton got to the PL. They would have been under pressure to bring in players from abroad or with a PL track record. Could be a good signing if he fits in well. The spirit at our club is a good one and NJ knows the lad well so here's hoping.

How many of Jones' "attempt to convert career winger into central player" experiments have actually worked?

Cornick is a good player but he'd be a solid starter in a team playing with wingers rather than an impact sub as he can't finish when played centrally.

Struggling to think of another one that has even come close to working out well? Vassell played wide but was primarily a striker before joining us anyway so I'm not counting that one.

Totally agree with this, they have rarely been successful and have actually turned into outright disasters *cough* Jordan Cook *cough*. Some of the others have just been a bit shit like Gillead.

The only marginal one I can think of is Gambin who looked decent at times in that position in the level below but he didnt exactly appear too much.

Can sort of understand this one as we needed something a bit different to what we have in an attacking sense and pickings at this stage are slim, but he does have a weird fascination with doing this.

Jonesy to Brentford, to replace Dean Smith.
I’d be gutted if he moved there, but it’s clear that Brentford are a club going places. I couldn’t begrudge him a whopping pay rise and a team not far at all from the Premier League.

I can’t help feeling that he wouldn’t entertain the idea if the stadium was already being built...

Not sure if he would go there as im not sure the fit is right for him, from what I understand they have their own system and way of doing things and the manager/first team coach or whatever they call it has to fit to that prescribed approach. Jones has a very very clear view of how he thinks things should be done, and lets face can be an abrasive character. They arent going to change for him and he certainly wont change what he thinks for them so Im not sure its a good match personally.

He has basically been given free reign here to do what he wants and backed to do that, I dont think they would do that for him as they already have an entrenched way of doing things (that clearly works for them so why change it!)

I hope that TFCH is right. Talks and makes sense. Jones is kinda writing his own ticket within the 2020 framework. I think, or maybe just hope, Jones sees a platform he can go far right where he is in time.

Maybe im an idiot in blinkers thinking my clubs bigger than it is, but there's no reason we can't be in Brentfords shoes in a few short years. I think that's what he sees. A shortcut there now when he hasn't seen this to it's full potential...... meh. Can't see it unless - with respect - it's to a big club.

Be a real kick in the balls to see him go. I think he's got loads of potential and we're a good fit.

wow! I never thought he'd be given a chance by another professional football team, after all he was turning down the chance of a trial with Billericay not long ago.
If they sign him they just have to make sure they do what Southend did and put lots of disciplinary clauses into his contract. He has the talent, it's just whether his brain might actually click into gear to realise what he has.

Sort of thing Karl Robinson would do though - give a lad like him one more chance.

Looks like we are going back to the League of Ireland for another winger. This time Kieron Sadler from Cork City. Winger scored 24 goals them last season.
