Sam Lloyd charlton fans? We have just signed him.

Been a few years since he was with us but he was a frustrating player with lots of ability.

Good running with the ball but end product often let him down.

Not really followed his career properly since but think he did quite well over in the MLS.

Not a bad free signing I would say.

Niall Mason is apparently attracting interest from several Championship Clubs and we are looking at making Tom Anderson’s loan into a permanent

Paul Taylor (the ex-Peterborough one) leaves us for ‘personal - non footballing reasons’, lots of rumours kicking around about rehab and the like but he scored some crackers for us so wish him well whatever’s going on with him.

Steve Lovell signs his two year deal today.
Great news as he has done a fantastic job since he took over.
We were beyond shit back then and I was pretty much resigned to relegation,
Club man to boot.

We’re getting Puma as well next season apparently. Meh, I want Adidas back. They did our best kits by a mile back in the early noughties.

Given he is your fourth manager in little under 12 months, maybe a rolling contract might be the better option until the new year.

I know you like to believe you're always right, but you are particularly wrong in that assessment.

Lovell has done a fantastic job in turning a team (mostly full of L2 rejects around). We looked dead and buried at Christmas and are now almost certainly safe.

Perhaps you might explain why you think JED, Taylor or Pennock might be the better long term appointment? Especially considering where all 3 are now.

Pennock was a cheap mistake, and Taylor was a caretaker. Nothing unusual about that.

What are you expecting transfer wise this summer, massive turnover of playing staff or just adding a few?

We're reportedly lining up a bid of 500k to bring Ryan Yates in permanently in summer.

It seems he's quite highly regarded at Forest so they will probs demand more.

What an odd comment. We wouldn’t be posting on a football forum if we were immune to narcissistic impulses. My point was genuine, though: ignoring all the strawman stuff about your previous managers (I never said they deserved long-term contracts either), getting rid of of two managers in a year, each with their own contracts that need to be paid off, as well as their own coaching staff (presumably?) and ideas about recruitment, is expensive. Why risk tying down another manager to a long-term contract when stability is far from assured, and he could be sacked if you start poorly (within the realm of probability)? Jackett was on a rolling contract here we’ll into his tenure — Holloway and Lomas were tied to long contracts straight away and were sacked within the year. Unneccesary expense imo.

Maybe JED, Taylor and Pennock were all on rolling contacts. Taylor definitely as he was only interim. The point being that Lovell has earnt himself a longer contract.

Actually if this place has taught me anything it's that League One clubs are where they are because they never make any mistakes. If you had to push me for an explanation of why we aren't all winning the Champions League, evidence would suggest it's due to the referee or the embarrassing away support that didn't make any noise.

I know this wasn't aimed at me but I will field the question. Personally I would hope Lovell makes a few tweaks, mainly in the attacking vicinity-and doesn't overhaul the squad hugely, as he seems to have fostered an excellent spirit with the players we already have.

Defensively we are sound, (aside form the shambles at Southend) only 5 teams in the league have a better defensive record than us. Ehmer recently signed a new deal so if we can get Zakuani to sign a new contract I'm happy with the options we have at the back, even with the others that might depart, though almost certainly need a new left back.

Conversely only 3 teams have scored less than us this season so that is the area we need to strengthen. We've had to rely significantly on Parker and Eaves who've scored 55% of our goals. Our other 2 strikers Wilkinson and Nash have managed only 3 goals combined between them, and whose abilities to perform at this level I'm highly skeptical of.

Even though we have 4 strikers under contract for next year already I would expect and hope the priority to be a creative midfielder and at least 2 strikers to come in.

Apparently we are in advanced talks with 2 players (1 possible permanent and 1 possible loan) and both were shown around the current training ground and the new training ground being built.

3 already confirmed as going/not involved next season, they are (no surprises): Dwight Tiendalli (Robinson got rid of him on his 2nd day in the job), Mike Williamson and Ivo Pekalski (even though he has a year left on his contract) who apparently is talking to a few clubs in Europe.

Unsurprisingly, Karl Robinson pretty much confirmed on radio yesterday we won't be taking up the option to buy Gino Van Kessel. If Pep Clotet was still in charge, I would have been genuinely concerned about this actually happening and spending €900k on a waste of space.

Many more no doubt to follow. I also hope we don't try to sign Alex Mowatt permanently.

We're about to complete our first signing of the summer. I believe it's Sam Barratt a 22 year old winger from Maidenhead had trials at Palace and Bristol Rovers.
A complete change of approach by Powell after years of Brown's 'has-beens' transfer policy.

A few rumours from our end that both yourselves and Portsmouth are looking at 21 year old released Norwich central midfielder Ebou Adams.

We had him loan last season and he was superb, has a bright future in the game.

We're trying to sign him pernamently, but I doubt we will be able to compete with two League One sides.

For me
A complete change of approach by Powell after years of Brown's 'has-beens' transfer policy.

Barratt himself has confirmed it on Instagram. He's not a League One player yet and I wouldn't expect him to hit the ground running at that level. He's quick and has a sweet left foot, he scores a few from distance and puts some great crosses in, but has no right foot.

For me he'll need at least six months on loan at L2 level before being good enough for your match day squad. Certainly capable of performing at that level down the line though.

First I’ve ever heard of him to be honest but we do need CM’s badly

It’s kind of a no risk signing from us. Doubt he’s going to cost a lot, not likely to start as we have McLaughlin and Kightly on the wings but if he makes the step up then great. I’d rather sign this sort of player than crap like Jermaine McGlashan

I wrote in the non-league section that unless by some miracle we can keep Kightly fit for more than 3 games in a row then I reckon he'll see some game time.

I'm more shocked that the club are signing anyone as the transfer window opens after years of Phil Brown waiting until the final week before rushing through 30+ year old injury prone ex-Premier league players.
First Barrat then this rumour of 21 year old Adams, what does Chris Powell think he's doing.
