Let's be 'avvvviiiinnn ya. Top of the form table Mariners hosting unbeaten in absolutely ages in the league Stags.

Quite how we managed to get 3 points at Exeter, I'll never know. I really can't see our patched up defence keeping Mansfield at bay so we're going to have to be at the races in front of goal.

No senior CBs fit or not suspended at time of writing. We might see a debut for our new Swedish left back, but then again we had Luke Hendrie back and fit against Exeter so he might not be needed.

Potentially Embleton's last league match, although I really hope not.

Mansfield never win in Syria, will take a point now.

Grimsby are on a good run and it’ll be a difficult game. 1pm on NYD makes an unappealing away trip even more unappealing so will be spending my pennies on Carlisle next Saturday.

Despite being top of the form table, Mansfield are a close second, and with no fit senior centre backs I think we will be lucky to get a result here.

Then again I thought the same today so anything can happen. The draw specialists will probably make it nice 0-0.

The centre back issue will hinder us but Jolley seems to have instilled a “never say die” attitude of late and we should give a good fight and I’d be delighted with a point to start the new year. However, 3 points would be amazing of course and we are more than capable.

Please explain this little Syria thing you have been enjoying lately.

Also, potentially a disappointing Mansfield following to BP? Nothing new about that really.

We dodged a banana skin vs Swindon at home. Wouldn't surprise me if we made a few changes to freshen things up. Grimsby to make a good go of it but the Stags' quality to show. I'm going for an away win.

Basically we get to go to the most desolate place in the league over Christmas each year at 1pm to see our side struggle.

If we actually find a way of beating you I’ll genuinely think we can go up, we even lost 4-1 at your gaff the last time we got promoted.

It’s sad that the police make this game such a non event for away fans on both sides over absolutely nothing, no-one benefits. Even had mates who’ve got a block booking for NYE in Grimsby or wherever cancelled by the police, like really? Never saw any bother apart from a game a few season ago when there were a few scuffles

They just re-booked in the same hotel in groups of 2 instead.

Hmmmm bit of a tenuous use of desolate to say the least. Grimsby/Cleethorpes is a bigger place with a higher population than Mansfield and Damascus is over three times the size of Manchester.

That's ridiculous that the block booking got cancelled though. I don't think I have ever ever seen a sniff of trouble at Mansfield/Grimsby games as well. You get the 12 year olds giving it the big 'un just to the right of the away supporters at Field Mill but that is quite literally all I have seen in probably the 7 or 8 times I've attended games between the two sides. There is more violence in the 1/TFF threads than at the matches!

Not sure we’ll get away with no defenders twice so I’ll go for an away win.

Ring won’t be involved apparently, international clearance can only be applied for when the window opens on 1st Jan therefore won’t be granted by KO.

Too many injuries and suspensions all in defence, also verman missing. Playing almost a full half with 10 men and backs to the wall yesterday, one eye on a big cup tie and against an in form good Mansfield side means I can't see past an away win unfortunately.

Hope I'm wrong, as I thought the same yesterday, but whatever its been a great December which has pretty much seen us out of the relegation battle, so we can look forward to what was promised at the start of the season.

More rebuilding and looking to next season, 3 players from our academy on the pitch yesterday and another on the bench, youth team top of the league and in the cup semi final means the future looks bright for a change.

So everyone’s happy with a draw.

Cool, sorted.

Grimsby will be up for it, their fans will be up for it (not so much now we don’t have Evans) and we’ve a top 3 spot, an unbeaten away record and an 15/16 (can’t remember which) unbeaten run to protect, so know there’s a great chance it’ll end here.

How daft is this being a 1pm kick off, it’s putting me off going.

No need for it mate. It came after the game Grimsby beat us 3-0 a few seasons ago and there was a small element of bother out of a decent crowd. Nothing there, we’d all been in the Grimsby pub watching (ironically) Lincoln beat Burnley and the whole place went up when Lincoln scores at the death

Who cares what the result is, what really matters in this game is what the home attendance is.

5400 on Saturday at Field Mill, definetly above average

I dunno what to expect, I think the last two times at Grimsby were around 1,000ish? 1pm New Year’s Day has got to put a decent amount off.

Anyway Big Al County are not well supported away from home.

Think the cripples couldn’t even muster 500 away fans, but nursing home buses don’t travel too far I guess.

Is it on iFollow?

Apparently boxing day games were allowed to be but all lge 2 sides agreed for them not to be, so wouldn't be surprised if they have agreed the same for new years day.

According to the rules the only TV blackout times for England is 3pm on Saturdays during non international weekends.

Fishy is on fire again, nice to have you back involved and posting about me once again :ohy:
But no no no it’s the away following of course, nobody cares what the home support totals. It’s how many travel and how noisy they are, forget the totalgate receipts.

True much better supported at home where it counts financially

Maybe iFollow is incredibly popular in and around Mansfield, would explain the home attendances

I follow shouldn’t be allowed in the uk for any match at all, Saturday, Tuesday evening, Friday teatime whatever. It’s bad news.

If you can’t make games (like I can’t make Mansfield games on Tuesday nights) it’s the way it is. It’s a bad thing in the long run

Yeah because it’s really helping Notts County financially - nothing screams basket case like the Bedwetters

Disagree, if you can't make games the club just made money from you because you paid to watch it on ifollow.

The issue is if people chose to watch on iFollow instead of going to the game, that's what the league and clubs need to balance correctly.

Yeah, I think you might be right. I'm still torn though every time we have a match as it tugs on all those impulses to watch but I know I shouldn't be handing my money over.

Well I think that’s the issue. Frealaf disagrees SOC agrees, I know neither of you are local to BP so would benefit.

I just feel it’s a precursor for eroding the rights of lower league clubs. Why travel far for games when you can watch on tv at half the price of a fare receipt?.

Don’t agree, not for me

Aye but if I'm not going to travel no matter what, the club made money from those people.

Like I say the issue is making sure there is a balance that it doesn't take away money and fans from people who chose to be at home watching when normally they would go.

I don't trust the EFL to get it right but I think there needs to be more evidence that ifollow is bad before people dismiss it. It wouldn't surprise me. If some clubs make money from it because of people paying £10 to watch that would normally just use twitter or local radio. It's those people that clubs need to advertise too and you never know, once they start watching on iFollow they may like what they see and actually travel to more games than they normally would if they even do at all.
