Carson going to Stoke will be nailed on when they sell Butland. Can't imagine that will go down well with Derby.

That would be painful!

They can have Rowett & a good number of our players, just not Carson. It would cause a massive headache trying to replace him.

In all honesty, I imagine our valuation will be above what they want to pay.

Well he is currently the bookies favourite. Not that it really means anything, especially at this early stage.
Ferrie Bodde is available.

Be quite funny if Derby went for Monk. Then they would be bitter.

A lot of Birmingham fans have moved on. If you want ‘bitter’, take a look on the Derby forum.

There is still a lot of misconception that Rowett was harshly treated at Birmingham but in reality he was whoring himself out to other clubs while still under contract. He courted the Fulham job to land himself a pay rise at Birmingham. He held talks with QPR the following year and again was offered improved terms to stay but didn’t accept it. The relationship by then had deteriorated to the point of no return. Right decision to sack Rowett, the mistake was appointing Zola.

I'm puzzled. Why would a manager go from Derby to Stoke? Is Rowett only able to manage clubs on the A38 and the A50? Will he manage Leicester next? Or Port Vale?

Even though Derby's almost got a mortgage in the Championship, Derby always felt bigger than Stoke.

More money in his pocket and transfer war chest, basically. He would have had to do some wheeling and dealing at ours this summer but why do that when he’ll have free reign down the A50. Kop out, Simon Jordon hit the nail on the head on talksport about him.

Frankie Lampard fav at the moment to replace him. Don’t know what to think of that but I’m ready for another rollercoaster season at this club so bring it on.

That would be a big gamble for Derby but it would be good for the championship for sure, would be very interesting to see how he’d do.

Why not, stop the same old merry go round of shit managers earning fortunes, it's a joke. Go for Alan pardew instead he's earnt 20m in his managerial career despite being fucking wank

I’d imagine if Derby did appoint Lampard it would excite the fans, I’d certainly be excited if blues appointed him (if we didn’t have Sir Monk :cool1:) I also think a lot of players would want to play for him, it would make you’re club very attractive to potential targets.

Lampard is a mental choice, but he’d have to do something outrageous to get us relegated. Does anyone expect us to not be in this division in 12 months time, probably not. It would undoubtedly bring money into the club, so throw the dice. The majority of fans are behind it now, for whatever reason, so why not?

Common sense states we either try and pinch Neil or Smith, but I’d be wary of their motives to make that move, or go for the obvious choice in McCarthy - who carries a bad reputation among football fans. I wouldn’t mind him personally, but can understand the concern.

We find ourself in a strange place, unfortunately. Roll the dice or take a safe option. We rolled the dice with McClaren the first time and it gave us performances that I still dream about, and ultimately crave to get back!

Leave our Dutch manager alone, he isn't going anywhere.

It seems you're gonna be cutting your budget massively this summer and McCarthy has a proven track record of success at clubs in that position. He's the obvious candidate imo.

Presumably, Derby would need to pay compensation to get the likes of Neil or Smith.

I assume that sort of expenditure is taken into account when complying with FFP?

Got £1.8m for Rowett though so I assume they can reinvest that.

I doubt the impact of this will be as big as people are expecting.

Yeah, fair point.

I don’t think the impact will be big necessarily, just thought if Derby are going to start tightening their purse strings then they are unlikely to go down the route of already employed managers.

Yeah, an employed manager may also be wary of leaving a safe job for a potentially turbulent one too. That said, they could still probably double Neil's or Smith's wages.
