Palace got a stronger team than Brighton out?

FA Cup draw:

Liverpool v West Brom
Peterborough v Fleetwood/Leicester
Huddersfield v Birmingham
Notts County v Wolves/Swansea
Yeovil v Manchester United
Carlisle/Sheffield Wednesday v Stevenage/Reading
Cardiff/Mansfield v Manchester City
MK Dons v Coventry
Millwall v Rochdale
Southampton v Watford
Middlesbrough v Brighton/Crystal Palace
Bournemouth/Wigan v Shrewsbury/West Ham
Hull v Nottingham Forest
Newport County v Tottenham
Norwich/Chelsea v Newcastle
Sheffield United v Preston

Some clear cut TV ties there.

Saints away for us - playing them Saturday so one will win then and the other in a few weeks!

Fantastic draw for us, the 2nd time we've play them at home in 3 years. Some much-needed income (not that we'll probably see any of it invested into players).

Posh v Leicester/Fleetwood chosen for BT Sport 2 on Saturday 27th Jan, 12:30pm kick off.

Would be hilarious if Fleetwood won the replay, I'm sure everyone would be tuning in for Posh v Fleetwood.

Looks like VAR got a run out at Leicester and the decision proved to be correct ..

Pep and City off to Cardiff - sure Warnock will have some get stuck into them tactics ready !

Hmm not the tie I wanted, especially away from home. No doubt "Colin" will do his utmost to turn the game into a battlefield.

Think the ref forgot about VAR for a moment in the Chelsea v Norwich game - William booked for diving when he was fouled !

And now down to 9 men!

If Norwich win, it’ll be great.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

Wigan absolutely deserved to beat us 3-0 last night, and only a goal line clearance prevented it being 4-0. We made a load of changes, but that team still included over 300 PL appearances between them. Hardly a bunch of reserve team kids. You'd like to think they could give Wigan a game at least, and avoid an embarrassment. Poor old Afobe couldn't beg a goal at the moment, and Boruc has massively let himself go since becoming 2nd choice to Begovic. He's the size of a house now (yet it seems surprisingly easy to get the ball past him)!

Still, the squad will probably get flown out to some warm weather training camp over the now free 4th round weekend. I'm sure that horrible possibility wasn't at all in the minds of those playing last night. The 500 souls who went up to Wigan last night will get to read and see all about what a nice time the squad are having via the club's various social media.

No surprise but Otis Khan's red card appeal failed. It was never going to happen.

"Furthermore, the Independent Regulatory Commission increased the player’s standard suspension of three matches by an additional two matches as it considered the appeal had no prospect of success."

So he'll miss Friday's game against the team he played for as a junior and grew up ten minutes from through his own stupidity.

The ref missed a blatant shirt pull while he had the ball up their end. He should've played to the whistle but instead stopped and complained. When they then lumped it upfield and scored Khan was outraged. Stupid idiot.

Worse was the fact that the Chesterfield player scored from well outside the area as well

So showing aggressive dissent maybe?

Might have got a red card even if he hadn't slipped over which is unfortunate I guess.

After all it seem only the top Premier league teams get away with it (as you'll probably see on Friday!)

Mind you an extra 2 game ban seems harsh...

It's the Frivolous Appeal clause - it's always risky unless it's a stonewall wrong decision. I think the FA increase the punishment if they think you've wasted their time.

He's going to be sold this month anyway so that's the last time we'll see him in a Yeovil shirt. What a way to go.

Am I the only one who is absolutely shocked the FA has given a 7:45PM kick-off on a Saturday? Isn't that a first in the history of English Football?

So these are the heights Sanchez wanted to leave Arsenal to reach. Yeovil Town.

A mere 181 feet higher above sea level than The Emirates. Embarrassing.

Yeovil have done well but will probably pay for that mistake.

Reckon Man U will get another and ease the game out.

That'll do.

Yeovil were good in the first half and did threaten but our goal before half time was a kick in the teeth that they never really recovered from.

Strolled to a 4-1 win against an absolutely abysmal Yeovil side. Not gonna stay in the FL on that evidence.

How can a Premiership side play an FA Cup game in December? Top tier sides only enter the 3rd round in January since I started following football back in 1998.

I meant its the first time an FA Cup tie has been played on a Saturday evening (from what I can remember)

Thought you asked has any English game kicked off at 7:45 on a Saturday..

Of course Leicester v Man U was in the Premier league.

Say what you will about the Premiership and the way you may or may not think how well you are treated (I know you are one of the few Prem fans that attend games on this board) but having games in the afternoon is something that is lacking far too much in latin countries and perhaps taken for granted in Saxon countries. It enables people to go the ground, watch the game and then go home. How will West Brom fans get to Anfield and back? Unless all of them take a coach (ok Birmingham isn't that far from Liverpool and England is a teeny, tiny piece of land), I imagine most of them will have to fork out the money to pay for a hotel. Not saying Liverpool have Marriott or Hilton prices all over town but it's additional cash that fans need to pay and it's just not necessary.
In France, 8/10 second tier games are played on a Friday evening while half of the Ligue 1 games are played on a Saturday evening. Even I have better things to do on a Friday and Saturday and I'm about to hit 100 grounds this year!

This will not stand man!
