YES! It's official, we can lay down our mighty swords, close our ports forever, because the blue passport is back!

What a time to be alive!

I have this to say to the PC brigade, if my blue passport offends you then go back to your own country!

Aside from the news of our blue passports, I noticed a transition period has been muted up to 31 Dec 2020. Of course hardliners like Farage think it’s terrible but it’s nice to see a little bit of logic coming into these talks finally. Presumably this would pacify remainers concerns that we haven’t got enough time to sort everything out by March 2019?

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
It increases the likelyhood of a Norway style deal because we’re simply not going to get preferential treatment.

As far as I can see it there are three options.

A: Soft Brexit. Still have to abide by EU laws, but with no control over changing them. Still have FOM and still have to pay in. Pointless.

B: Hard Brexit. Basically impossible with the Good Friday agreement.

C: Kick the whole thing into the long grass, change the passports to blue and get on with our fucking lives.

I'll be exchanging my current burgundy British/Euro passport for a dark Blue British passport as soon as they're available.

They’re not burgundy. Historically the colour of officialdom.

I have no intention whatsoever of setting foot on any part of Europe, therefore I do not require a passport to somewhere I'll never visit.

A valiant effort from the Guardian to try and imply that Labour could lose more Remainers than Brexiters, but the poll they're citing doesn't suggest anything of the sort. In fact it's probably telling that the 'Best of Britain campaign group' didn't have YouGov poll the would-be voters directly on whether they'd switch parties over Brexit and why. It makes sense that a Brexiter might jump ship if Labour reneged on Corbyn's "free movement of people will end after Brexit" pledge, but I'm not sure how believable it is that a Remainer would leave them for maintaining the position they've had since the beginning, and if they did I'm not sure where they'd go. Unless something radical happens I don't see why they'd change their position. To simply respect the referendum vote is not especially objectionable for their Remainers, while also about as much as any of their Brexiters can ask for.

The only time i will ever say this but Farage was right!. He really hit the nail on the head with his comment that this is the first tangable Brexit victory!.

Erm... The passport you’re getting rid of isn’t only one to get into Europe, mate. You can go anywhere with it.

I realise that, but I'll still be going back to the dark blue British passport.

So you'll be looking forward to buying yer winkles by the pint again, in sprazies, bobs and half crowns, eh Claret..?*

Perhaps you'll be looking forward to spending your weekends taking longbow practice.... hey, the Olympic Park should be a good place for that..... After all, the further we regress the better, eh..?

Ahhh, I bet you can't wait for the old glories to return. Poverty...... slum housing...... that's what the East End's all about, eh..? Are you going to re-install your outdoor toilet and get the old tin bath back too..?

*Actually, knowing that side of the river like I did, it wouldn't surprise me one little bit if Tubby Isaacs descendants didn't ever stop selling them that way. Are there any Winkle Barrers left in the East End now..?

Yes to all of the above my Piskie friend, did you know that there's a fish stall (a covered type hut/barrow) at Walthamstow market on Thursdays & Saturdays by the name of Tubby Isaacs where they still sell whelks, winkles and jellied eels - I was there last year and bought some winkles (proper ones mind you and none of that European rubbish)

I'm good to go with the tin bath also, just have to take a load of flowers out that the wife planted in it down the back of the garden, I've also kept some old coinage like threepenny bits and a few shillings and pound notes so I'll be fine there too, what I really miss the most are proper telephone boxes where you could press button B to get your coins back - Ah, the good old days, I can't wait.......
EDIT: oops, almost forgot to wave my flag.

It is a bit hypocritical of Piskie remoaning about leaving Europe when his/her avatar contains the Cornish flag, a symbol of, supposedly, wanting independence from Britain.
