Why does Sturridge dropping deep to collect the ball stop it from being a diamond?

Lallana went in behind, Rooney Alli and Dier were all in the middle. Whether it was an outright two up top or not, we were still playing four players in central positions in the middle.

Personally think it looked more like an amethyst, or possibly a moss agate at an off centre angle

We'd have already known about it if he was Roy's predecessor, or have you come from some parallel dimension?
No, I certainly havent come from another dimension! I wasnt saying he was definite to become the next England manager, I was saying why wuld he have taken the valencia job if he didnt want to become a manager at some point?

In your original post, the word you should have used was successor, not predecessor :)
I have no idea whether Gary Neville will make a good England manager but there is something to be said for ensuring continuity so that England can play in a system that suits our players.

I really wish Sturridge would stop that stupid dance. Not quite Peter Crouch levels of annoyance but not far off.

Quality player though and great to see him celebrated at international level for once. If he could sort his injury issues out he'd be England's best striker for me. He's got more natural ability than either Vardy or Kane, and offers more on the pitch than either of them too.

Offers more on the pitch? What does that even mean?

Lads, I hope you're all buzzing after that, and so you should be! I was down in the dumps at half time and felt gutted but nothing can take away that feeling when Sturridge scored! Sheer jubilation! That's the bit of luck we need and didn't have against Russia!

What made it more sweeter was all that rubbish we've heard all week off Coleman, Bale and Ramsey. They gave it the big one all week and showed a lack of respect so I couldn't be more happy seeing them lying on their backs at full time!

Yes we made hard work of it and some would say we were fortunate. However over both games we have absolutely dominated and we deserve to top the group currently. Russia and Wales had no ambition and both came for a point. Wales especially disappointed me.

We are lacking a ruthless streak at the minute and our defence is yet to be tested but let's take it game by game and see where it takes us.

How did Coleman, Bale and Ramsey show a lack of respect to England?

Perhaps not a lack of respect, I'll take that comment back. They did what they needed to do to to try and wind England up I suspect.

Just made the win that little bit sweeter did it not?

While you know what you're going to get with Kane and Vardy, Sturridge is like one of those lucky dip buckets. You might either get a booby prize or the winning ticket with him, he provides a bit of unpredictability to our play.

Apologies, I didn't mean to castigate Vardy in any way shape or form JJ. A goalscorers primary job is obviously to score goals, but for me Sturridge offers more than Vardy and Kane to the overall play on the pitch outside of that. For example dropping back when required and working to get the ball back when it's lost. We're not talking a massive difference here, but for me it is noticeable.

I follow Wales. I've been surprised about how people have reacted to it.

Football is a team sport, you back your own team to the hilt. You stay together. Not sure Wayne Rooney is going to say Manuel Neuer is a better keeper than Joe Hart during Euro 2016, for example.

Passion comments were equally as pointless. Everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife at home. (And it's not as if pashun wins you football games at the highest level anyway).

Any time a footballer says anything even slightly off script or out of cliche, journos and fans go nuts. It's no wonder footballers are often so boring.

I ain't bothered, he'll be an Arsenal player soon enough so fill yer boots. I just didn't know what you meant by it. I don't necesarily agree with the assessment either. Vardy isn't asked to drop back as it negates his primary threat. Same goes for Sturridge. They can both do it and both do when instructed but for us instructing Vardy to do that is pointless. For England he's been asked and done it against Portugal for example. As for natural ability, Sturridge is definitely Englands best finisher. Both him and Kane are above Vardy in that respect. They're also both greedier bastards. But in terms of work rate for the team Vardy is above Sturridge and I've already talked about his attacking ability actually contributing defensively before. Sturridge and Kane both work better in a different variety of set ups than Vardy.

Think that Sturridge goal has overtaken Beckhams free kick against Greece as my favourite England moment.

Absolute chaos in the Lyon fanzone.

How can you quantify something like "workrate"? I've not seen Vardy or Sturridge play live very often so not sure how you could say one "works harder" than another.

You just know Pags and the office boys have been castigating the wriggly arm dance around the water cooler this morning.

Sturridge was the one striker that I didn't want to end up on the pitch out of all of them. Just knew if he got a half chance in the box he'd score it, best finisher Woy's got by far.

By the way if I'm understanding the format correctly we stand a fairly decent chance of facing Northern Ireland in the last 16? Winners of group B face 3rd place in A/C or D.

Romania currently 3rd in group A - played 2, 1 point.

Northern Ireland currently 3rd in group C - played 2, 3 points.

Turkey and Czech Republic both on zero points, play Spain and Croatia next respectively. Both underdogs.

Am I right?
It's really unlikely we'll play Northern Ireland, even though they're probably going to come third in Group C. The only combination of qualifying third place teams that mean we'd play them is BCEF. Third place in Group A or D are much more likely.

Is Coleman a bit Spanish or something? He looks foreign and not so dopey looking like most Welsh.

Does Jockney even know what he did to us?

I think one of his grand parents are black. A lot of Welsh are generally quite dark though.

Yup. For example Kelly Jones, he's got a similar look to him.

I would start Sturridge next game, I don't agree that he's England's best striker (even on pure ability), but he does offer an ability to drift past players with skill that the others do not. Everything he does looks so effortless, he's an absolute joy to watch. Kane is England's best striker and will be for the next decade, he just doesn't suit whatever Roy is trying or else he's in poor form.

Sturridge for Sterling, Vardy for Kane and Rashford for Lallana next game, do it Woy.

Yup. For example Kelly Jones, he's got a similar look to him.
Still clinging onto that doppelganger claim, aye? :animatedf:
