Ok. I am NOT a football fan.
I took my Son to watch the England Vs USA Match at Wembley.

Apparently it was Wayne Rooney's last match for England.

He was only on the pitch for 20 minutes, and during that time he ran ONE time.

For the rest of the time he just stood around the goal.

What a boring, lazy, selfish way to play football.
At least most of the other people (on both teams) were making some sort of effort.

And then I heard some guy on the train talking to his friends about how "Wayne Rooney" has "still got it" !!

What a joke !
I guess the fans of him are blinded.

As someone that has no bias towards any team or player, I can say he was the WORST and LAZIEST and DULLEST player on the entire pitch. and he does not deserve any sort of cheer for his awful performance.

People may say he 'almost' scored. But anyone could have waited 20 minutes by the goal and pathetically kicked a ball towards a net.

Now I have ONE footballer on my "dislike" list.
Before, it used to be 'zero'.

You sound really upset by it all. Its okay while Wayne is not what he used to be like many old players he's still a good player and you can tell you don't like football with your post.

You're correct. I'm not in to Football.
But, saying that, I do enjoy watching 'talent'.
When my son shows me some incredible Youtube videos of some footballers handling the ball, or getting around the opposing players with finesse, its a pleasure to watch.
But when I saw Rooney just goal hanging... To me that is not sport.
However, he only represents 1 person out of 22.
I enjoyed watching both sides play (not really caring who wins).

By the way:
What is the etiquette on not caring which side wins ?
is it really frowned upon ?

I don't mind. Since my club has been taken over by qataris I just watch games and want the team that deserves it the most to win. For example, I wish Holland would have beaten us 0-5 last night instead of 0-2.

As a rule of thumb, its widely accepted that having a preference when posting specifically on a 'football forum' is beneficial to the longevity of the thread.
