Surprised by this signing to be honest, I thought he would stay with you lot or another Conference National team would snap him up.
The only thing wrong with George is that he is always pernamently injured it seems, in the 2 seasons we had him down here he picked up 2 long term hamstring injuries which ruled him out for for 3/4 months both times. The first time it fucked us over big time, the second time Marvin Ekpiteta replaced him back in August last season and is now a key player.

He had a major fall out with JE after a 2-0 defeat at Ebbsfleet back in January, where he reacted badly after being subbed by not shaking JEs hand and it escalated at full time into the dressing room it seemed. George was transfer listed the following day and released a few weeks later. A shame as he is a very good character to have about the place and has his uses on the pitch.

He's strong in the air and doesn't lose many headers, he scored around 6 goals for us - All from set plays.

He is very rash though and isn't the quickest. The injuries have taken their toll on him. If he stays fit, he'll do ok in the National League South.

Oh dear Cousins was terrible at coming for anything. Admittedly he looked petrified in goal and had no presence at all. Hopefully Loach is better.

Anyone for Callum Reynolds, Che Alexander and Dan Sparkes... They are brilliant....
Che Alexander and Dan Sparkes were great players for this level a few years ago.. what happened?

I did think, when Loach didn't re-sign for Pools he'd be off to somewhere bigger and better.

Barnet eh.

Barnet eh.

I mean - ignoring historic club size and attendances our budget is a fair bit bigger than theirs.

Alexander is decent going forward but cannot handle any winger with pace. Continually backs off and offers little defensive presence. He also has an awful habit of cutting inside on his left which is fine when you're a winger, but when you're a full back it leaves you too vulnerable and we've been caught out by it a few times.

Sparkes is a top, top set piece taker and crosser, but every other element of his game is Isthmian standard at best.

Gavin Hoyte is the latest former Barnet player to join us.
Weird one our end, looked comfortable while playing but for an unknown reason never really consistently played.

Was initially brought in to be our captain but I get the feeling something was happening behind closed doors at the time and it really wasn’t working.

You’re getting a solid player who admittedly has lost his legs for a full back role, I imagine him to be playing as a CB leading a line.

Anthony Dudley has re-signed for us despite interest from Morecambe, Hartlepool and others.

So you're telling us that your bankrolled basically? :shifty:

The group of companies based at the Hive is profitable, and the club's budget comes from that group's profits.

But if you're asking if the playing budget comes solely from gate receipts and revenue that directly relates to the stadium and the football facilities at THL, then no, it doesn't.

Then again, if that's our criteria for what makes a team bankrolled, then who isn't?

Kleanthous spent £millions on Barnet.

Only he would know the figures but it's mostly capital investment. The playing budget has always been sustainable.

Again if we're defining bankrolled as "money has been put in that the club hasn't earned from gate receipts, player sales and prize money" then everyone is bankrolled.

Besides we have an FA Cup windfall boosting our budget this year.

Loach will be on good money at Barnet no doubt, he was our highest earner, from what I heard 1.5k a week. Thought he'd get fixed up at a L2 club or a big NL club but good luck to him. Good servant at Pools, cared for the club a lot. Has his limitations but I'd rather have kept him although Hignett wanted to free up some of the budget.

Great shot stopper, kicking is average and he isn't great on crosses and has the odd mare in him. Had a great first season, last season he was a bit hit and miss. But he's a good bloke so hope he does well for you.

Makes sense on your last paragraph. He did his ACL here - home to Chesterfield. I can still remember the way he landed after heading the ball and his leg bending behind him and jarring. Prior to that, he was quick and that meant he was a good outlet going forward but could also cover his mistakes (positionally not great) but, unsurprisingly, he seems to have never been the same after that injury.

Can't imagine he's going to be great on a plastic pitch either with his knees.

We're gonna run on 11 players in the squad, no subs on the bench, and hope for the best. :ds:

Based on what I’ve been told by a few people, I’d have us as one of the favourites to go down...
