As we're now in 'Cheltenham month' and it's just over a week away, I thought we might get the thread up.
Discuss ante-posts you've put on, tips you've got and what you think might surprise.

Personally still waiting for the decision on Moon Racer for the Champion Hurdle/Supreme. Looks like he'll go for the Supreme which is sad as I've got 40/1 ante-post for him in the Hurdle! Pretty sure he'll win whichever race they decide to enter him in, but he does have a bigger chance in the Supreme for sure

Empire of Dirt is my favourite horse (if that's a thing). A lot seem to think he could have gone in for the Gold Cup itself.

I like Empire of Dirt, big fan, but I think I'd want bigger than 4/1 for the Ryanair. Double those odds I'd be having a go. It's a wait till the day one is that

The fun part of Cheltenham is trying to plan my work shifts around the racing so I don't miss any of the big races.

So many offers, can't wait.

Would help if I wasn't signed up to every bookie twice over

Stan James usually offer a fiver free every day so I'll be keeping eyes peeled for that.

Been in dubai over the weekend and went to the racing on Saturday. What a fucking brilliant day too, I'm going to Cheltenham next Tuesday then straight to swindon to watch us, let's hope it can live up to last Saturday.

I always took that week off work. Nowadays I don't have to.....indeed I get no official holidays.......:(

Hope all goes to plan for your time off!

Who are we going for tomorrow then?

I often like to take on the favourites on day one and test the waters a bit.

I think I'm going to open cautiously with a small e/w L15 with perhaps some singles along the way, depending on how the day pans out. At the moment I'm looking at:

River Wylde @ 7/1
Noble Endeavour @ 7/1
Brain Power @ 7/1
Apples Jade @ 9/2

Tough race to call that Champion Hurdle, I'm looking for value and still keep coming back to Yanworth. For an each way bet though, I'm going for Brain Power, the price and the ground appeals. Finished strongly last time out in an impressive performance which gives me confidence that the extra distance shouldn't be too problematic. My tent or yours has finished second in this twice which suggests to me he doesn't quite have enough which leaves beveur d'air and Petit Mouchoir.

Can't wait. Good luck all.

Supreme - I have to have a go on Labaik at 50/1, such a talented horse yet a stubborn bugger. If he decides he doesnt want to run, he won't run, but if he does start the race he'll go straight to 10/1 in-running. Got to worth a couple of quid. Beyond Conceit is massively overpriced at 20/1 as well though and I will probably end up having a small play. That might be my £20 free bet at Skybet, no guts no glory and all that.

Arkle - Charbel w/o Altior at 3/1 will probably be my bet.

Ultima - Big fan of Singlefarmpayment (8/1) who was absolutely tanking round last before taken out by More Bucks, who shouldn't even have been running (annoying). It's a big field though so I might play Druids Nephew (10/1) as well, winner of this 2 years ago.

CH - I'm on Moon Racer ante-post at 40/1 and I think if he's got his nose in front coming up that hill, he'll be hard to peg back. His form is stamped all around. Yanworth will take the beating at 3/1, but he will have to race better than ever to win this on the good IMO. I also like Brain Power if the weather stays like this as it's meant to

Mares - VVM (5/2) should take this, I'd be very surprised if Limini beats her, but Ruby taking the latter is interesting. Surely VVM has this trip better than Limini though

National Hunt - Beware The Bear is making me look at 8/1 in the 4.50. That will probably be my bet in that race.

Close Brothers - wide wide open race this one. However the favourite Foxtail Hill 6/1 is hard to oppose. Depends how my day is going if I decide to play on this race or not.

THE MORE I LOOK AT IT THE MORE EXCITED I GET, AAAAH!

Fuming I'll be at work all day and miss it, bar what bits I can manage watch on my phone

Haha, you edited before I could pull you up on Brain Power being in the Champion Hurdle.

I also like Beware the Bear, one of the horses I was referring to when maybe looking at singles later in the day.

I'll be taking these into account whilst I'm there, I don't know a great deal about horses and you seem like you know your stuff.

Bunk off early £20 win 1st race for me with skybet. Money back as free bet if it loses. Gonna have £2.5 e/w on your little 50/1 tip although it's only 40s now on sky bet.

Yeah absolute maximum that mate (on the longshot). Chances are the horse will decide not to start, but that's why it's priced like it is

I'm not joined up with them. In all honesty I've been known in the past to lose the plot with gambling. Mainly pissed up on the roulette. so cancelled all accounts. I now just have sky bet and will hill with limits.

Labaik must be getting close to being banned his record is that bad. He did start last time out, just gave the others about 1/2mile head start.
The bet the bookies are fearing is the Melon/Limini double, it'll cost them several million if they both come in.

Honestly, I think he'd have got banned last time if he didn't eventually get going. He's such a strong willed creature, and he just can't be bothered to go. Sandwiched in between his 5 times he's refused to run though we're 2 amazing runs. Absolutely hacking up and beating Mick Jazz, who went on to beat Cilaos Emery himself after. Could really be anything that horse if he gets sorted out. It's a massive gamble, but I'm only having a small play, hoping Elliott has got him sorted

I hasten to add I'm not putting any money on my selections this time so they'll invariably win.

SkyBet paying 6 places in the Handicap Chase.

Theatre Guide interested me as an each way bet anyway at 25s. Will certainly be doing a £2.50 ew now.
