Wednesday for how long they have been down here can pull in some brilliant away followings. On par with Leeds at times.

It is the cost that goes with it. Trains etc can be so expensive. Then when you add in time off work, food, beer etc and then still get those numbers interested in doing it at all games. Fair play to them.

Never on a par with Leeds, not even close Leeds if allocated would have taken treble that to millwall. Definitely 2nd behind Leeds out of us all who are always down here but no where near on a par.

TBF I comment on away support and yours is probably better than ours, all things considered.

Some followings amaze me with how many go. QPR was a couple hundred higher than I thought seeing as we are pretty safe.

Were we very vocal? There has been a lot of talk about trying to improve our home and away support.

Hull was pretty terrible support last night, surprised they were so low.

Wasn't there but my pal says the ground was in silence all night.

Leeds took 900 to Cardiff the other season. 1300+1500 to brum, 1500 to Brighton, just to name a few. Wednesday could have matched that. I'd say on occasions their away support is just as impressive. No way Leeds would take 6k to Millwall midweek if they were doing shit like Wednesday are. They failed to sell out at Millwall the other season. Wednesdays away support this season has gone up another level.

The measly 2000 odd we were given for Forest went on sale to season ticket holders this morning, sold out by 10.30am, the fans are doing their bit.

Got mine :err::ds:

Our away support is very good considering how long we have been shit for (last 2 years being the exception back to normal business this season) but I have to agree with Blademan89 on this we aren't on par with Leeds, maybe on par with Villa after the same amount of shite and then a little in front of a host of other clubs who can turn out good numbers when doing well but don't compare to us when the going gets tough. (You know who you are ☺)

I take my hat off to any fans who travel everywhere whether in the thousands or just a handful, these people are more important to the well being of the game than Sky or even the players and managers imo.

You've picked Leeds worse followings out in about 15 years. Pick wednesdays worse 4 out and they will range from 500-700 in that time. I said 3x what Wednesday took to millwall which would be 4500, they took 6k midweek to Fulham last season, so that puts that argument to bed too.

Can't remember us taking less than a thousand anywhere for a long time to be fair. May be wrong.

Any reason why Sheffield Wednesday have better away support than Sheffield United considering both clubs are in the same place and get rougly the same home crowds?

In the last 15 years you will have had a few. 500 to Ipswich is the lowest I remember southey saying. You've had a few 700 odds too.

Leeds had their best season in years last season. I can't remember Wednesday taking below 1k for a very long time.,

They took over 4k midweek the previous 2 seasons too. They took 700 to Brighton about 3 seasons back. How about 3 years on the trot there biggest following to Leeds was 1300, 1010 or summat one of them, imagine Leeds taking only 1k to sheffield, no where near on a par and not one Wednesday fan will agree with you.

For starters I said at times they are on par. Their away support at times is just as impressive, imo.

At times plenty of teams are on a par when they sell out straight away. Doesn't compete with Leeds but better than the rest.

is 700 seriously Wednesday's worst following of the last 10 years? Blades had 700 at their last visit to AG when they were top 6, jesus.

Yes I think it is, hence the reason they have better away support than everyone other than Leeds year after year. No blade will say any different they have much better away support. You're last 3 away followings have been brilliant though they equal about our lowest one this season.

Think it was 3 seasons ago at Ipswich, sure Southey posted about it not too long ago.
Think he also said we have had something like 15 sub 1k's in last 10 or 15 years.

Wouldn't compare ours to Wednesday's though, not our rivals. Could compare it to Rovers - didn't even sell out at 860 at Wimbledon on Saturday bless 'em.

Us and Wednesday live in a city not that much bigger than you, were both shite pretty much all the time as yourselves and rovers are, sheffield United are the best supported club in Europe that has never played in a European competition, I don't deny Wednesday are bigger, but look at some of the successful periods they've had compared to us in anyone's lifetime , they will be. We average over 50k between us at home games and nearly 5k at away games, just compare that to bristol teams in a slightly smaller city.

BCFC & BRFC years in the top flight combined: 9.

SUFC and SWFC major honours combined: 13.

BCFC & BRFC major honours combined: 0

Stop talking rubbish, we've been shite. Compared to us you've absolutely lived the dream.

Before any one alive was born, 1 trophy between us since 1936. We've not won fuck all since 1925, our city made the game so obviously we were both good back then, unreal support for how shit we both have been in a lifetime. Villa have Won leagues, cups , European cups , live in a city twice the size and get 3k more in there first stint here as an example

472 at Ipswich for a 5:30 kick off was the lowest following I've been in, November 2009.

A few other low ones were Swansea and Ipswich again.

3,152 Leeds
1,683 Fulham (less than 20k home fans for a top six clash)
371 Cardiff
