Let's all laugh at Spurs.

Actually, its a shame they didn't progress. But they really should have gotten through, rightly favourites.

Harsh on Spurs that. You could argue that other then the opening 15 minutes in Turin and the 15 minute spell after the hour mark tonight, they dominated. That, however, is the brutality of champions league football and playing against the elite.

Fair play to Allegri as well because changing formation won them the match.

They really do seem to lack that mental toughness needed to win a trophy, don’t they? Seem to have the players and teamwork, just missing that bit extra.

To be fair, it wouldn't be right if we didn't have a north London team fail at the last 16 stage.

I don't agree with you.

Juventus was cynical, he suffered and struck when spurs fell

this is what the great teams know how to do

Don't agree with what? That Spurs were favourites? They were, and for good reason. They had two away goals and were playing the second leg at home (or Wembley, which is the same thing this season). Juventus always had a decent chance of turning their two home goals into a win, and they did so and deserved it. But to suggest that last night's result wasn't what the majority of people expected is not true.

Spurs really didn't help themselves with the missed chances in the first half.

Well the Devil vomits in my kettle once again, gutting to go out when we were controlling the game, and looking comfortable. However, credit to Allegri, he made tactical changes that Poch didn't react to, and frankly bringing on Llorente when Moura was available was the wrong call as far as I'm concerned.

Still, the positives I take from the funeral of our CL campaign are 1) at least we are in the CL having European nights like this, better to have lost in love and all that 2) this will serve as a lesson for Poch, he is an intelligent coach, the only man for the job at Spurs, lets not do this next season Mauricio 3) this might help loosen the purse strings in the transfer market, we have a great first 11 but a squad that isn't deep enough to challenge for the PL/CL. If we don't spend a little, this thing that Poch has built could quickly evaporate, that is just a fact of life in English football. We desperately need a cup win, all our eggs are now in the FA Cup basket, we have to go all out for it. COYS.

Spurs are in a similar position to us, in that trophies need to be won in order to keep important players at the club. For example, will Kane and Eriksen hang around for the next 2-3 seasons if nothing is won? It's the same with us and Salah, Firmino, Mane and even VvD despite him only just joining. Players want success, especially top quality ones.

Spurs and Liverpool have some very important seasons coming up.

i don't agree with this statement

if we talk about the opportunities Juve in the first leg on 2-0 has had a resounding with higuain, if it had not failed according to you we would have witnessed a 2-2?

and the penalty on 2-1 in turin?

in football there are no if .. Juve has been able to suffer and hit and deserves the qualification. In the 180 minutes Tottenham did not do better. They could both pass, in the end Juve is in the quarter finals.

Then we disagree. Spurs should have gotten through as they were playing the home leg with two away goals. They didn't take advantage of that and missed their chances. Lest we forget this is a team that was unbeaten in this season's CL before last night, including wins over Real and Dortmund.

I'm not taking credit away from Jeventus, they deserved their win. But to suggest that Spurs shouldn't have been favourites (which is, in effect, what you're saying) is wrong.

it seems that a team that scores 2 away goals and is unbeaten until then must pass the turn

the knockout phase does not have any kind of connection with the group stage.
there are several teams that have passed the group stage with difficulty and then they have reached the final or won the competition

Eh?

OK. Let's break this down to a simple question. After drawing with Juventus away, scoring 2 away goals in the process, do you believe my comment about Spurs being favourites at home last night in the second leg is wrong? A simple yes or no please.

Rarely have I been more surprised by a final score after switching off at half-time. Juventus were very poor in the first half but Allegri must have done something right as they were able to score 2 goals. Good on him, he's a good manager.
Saying this, I'm still disappointed that Juventus are through. They are seldom decent to watch (the game at Lazio was a bore for instance) while Spurs are quite spectacular most of the time and I would have liked them to go far in this CL. Can Juventus make it to another final? They've certainly showed that they're no pushovers.

I'm the opposite. Top level football is getting more and more streamlined and the Serie A will only become less and less competitive because of money. The longer there's a competitive club that isn't from England and Spain or called PSG or Bayern, the better for football. Four out of Juve's starting eleven yesterday were rejects from other top clubs. They're punching above their weight* and long may it continue.

* Spurs are too, but they're from the richest league in the world set to dominate Europe for the coming years anyway so fuckem.

Forgot Benatia, so that's five with Higuain.

Do you think that these 5 players are worse than those who play in their place in what you call the top team?

No, but that's irrelevant. Juve could never buy a player off Real et al if they'd rather keep them, but Real et al can certainly buy from Juve. This won't change and Juve won't continuously challenge for it.

this is true but history shows us that it is not enough to win the trophies

the money must know how to spend and not everyone know how to do it

History shows that the richest clubs remain at the top and the rest fall off eventually.
