If a player would rather stay and play for his club rather than his country he should be allowed to, however stupid that choice is.
But that's not what was said, he didn't go due to being injured.

But wasn't included due to Senegal being told he wouldn't be fit for any point during the tournament.

West Ham fined £71,000 and reprimanded by FIFA's disciplinary committee over Diafra Sakho's appearance in the FA Cup against Bristol City.

Still think the entire episode is complete bullshit. Either we're guilty and kick us out, or we're innocent. That it's a fine says to me their rule is unclear (which if the bits I've read are the only mentions, then they are) and we aren't 100% guilty.

...or of course FIFA are incompetent. Mmmmm...

Just to throw another spanner in the works our club have released a statement saying that they are not happy with fifas decision, and will be considering all options..

All that says to me is that we are going to claim compensation from West Ham. If that's the sort of penalties handed down by Fifa though, watch other clubs do it now.. With the obvious inconsistencies in punishments Fifa are renowned for.

The part that sticks out is that they find West Ham guilty then don't abide by their own rules, this could become messy depending on how far City want to take it. There's also previous this season with ineligable players with the game being replayed as well as West Ham's previous in previous years of being thrown out of the league cup. While I'm not entirely bothered one way or the other about being in the cup £71,000 is a joke considering £90,000 was made from the game and they stand to make a lot more from the next game with that also on TV and at a stadium with a larger capacity.
