Second home game of the season. We’re starting to get some of the injured back, so no excuses.

Bowyer’s biggest battle is trying to find the right balance - more specifically, the right formation.

He loves a 433, but it’s proving to be ineffective if Eoin Doyle sits behind the front two.

Fans are already beginning to grow frustrated. Almost feels like a must win game already - crazy. Although, you do get the feeling that once we string a couple of wins together, we’ll be a bit of force to be reckoned with.

Anyway....442 please.

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Kelvin Mellor
CB: Paudie O’connor
CB: Ben Richards-Everton
LB: Jackson Longridge

RW: Sean Scannell
CM: Hope Akpan
CM: Matty Palmer
LW: Jordan Gibson

ST: Clayton Donaldson
ST: James Vaughan

Subs:
Hornby
O’connor
Henley
Ishmael
Doyle
McCartan
Anderson

Scannell, Paudie, Akpan and Longridge must start for me. Arguably our strongest XI. Question marks still over centre midfield. We desperately need a tough CM to complement Palmer.

Anyway, I fancy us to put down a marker. 3-0 CITY

Att: 14,828 (500 Oldham).

Reading that Wheater is unlikely again so could be any number - I’ll go 3-1 Bradford.

We’d sold 666 as of yesterday so would expect closer to 850 Latics fans. Not great but it’s pretty shit at the moment being a Latics fan.

Going to go 2-0.

Not a must win, but feels like one because positivity from the summer is disappearing fast.

Should be winning these games comfortably, no offence to Oldham.

880 sold at close of play. POTD but anyone paying £25 to watch our mob wants their head testing.

Anyway, looking forward to the day out regardless. Good few pubs from Forster Square to Valley Parade if memory serves.

Try North Parade bars on there and not far from the ground.

I hope that Bowyer and his coaching staff do not tell their players that they 'Should be winning these games comfortably' ?There are very few comfortable wins in L2, and the sooner some of the Bradford fans grasp this the better, if they want to get out of this league asap that is.

I’ll go 2-0 but that depends on Bowyer not repeating the same mistakes once again, I worry the suggested team by Firthy will be stronger than the one we inevitably put out.

I doubt he or any couching staff would, what’s that got to do with the fans expecting to win this sort of game if we hope to achieve our pre season aims?

Thanks for that - sound advise! You know, because we’ve never played in L2 before.

Thing is Firthy's post reminded me of when some big club finds itself down in the connie and their fans start thinking how they're going to smash all the little part time sides. Big billy bollocks and all that.

Apologies Bradford fans, I overreacted is all.

And btw, congrats on your (comfortable) win today ;)

We looked the best going forward as we have for a long time, which isn’t surprising as it’s the first game in a long time Doyle hasn’t slowed us down. Vaughan and Donaldson were quick and clinical, not bad for two old zimmers.

Pleasure watching Vaughan and Donaldson this afternoon, they were both outstanding. They will be too hot for a few league 2 clubs this season on that form. In truth they were the difference today. Oldham had plenty of possesion and had 2 good players in no10 and 18, sorry Oldham fans, cannot remember their names. However, apart from hitting the post at 1-0, Oldham never looked like scoring, for all the possesion they enjoyed.

Back to the Bantams, if we can add a couple of midfield players to the squad, by far our weakest link at the moment, and replace Doyle with cover for Vaughan and Donaldon, I think we would look good bets for top 7 minimum

Decent result in a performance still probably not where we want it to be.

Midfield still looks weak and good midfields will overrun us. However, Vaughan and Donaldson will drag us through games and they are too good for this level. Two chances in the first half an hour and we were two up. Clinical.

As expected. Very sad to see us the way we are - not the club I’ve supported for all these years.
Good luck to you, your fans were a credit to your club today. We had our own “foreign expert owner” choosing who to buy last season but thankfully got rid.

I just hope this ends more quickly than it’s begun. We’re in real trouble but unfortunately there’s a fair number of our fans that are yet to be convinced about the damage the owner is doing to our club. I fear it is a will be too late and we’ll be non league before a united opposition group appears such is the apathy around the club.

If it's true your owner is doing everything then I fear for you. We have recently experienced how it will end and if we didn't get rid of him when we did, the damage would have been even worse. Funnily enough whilst it was happening, like some of yours, some of our fans couldn't see the wood for trees.
