Attenborough is returning again!

7 episodes to be aired later this year. Crazy how it's four years of filming for just 7 hours of programme.

I like that thing with bright red lips. The ocean is so mental.

Far and away the best hour of television I’ve watched since probably the last Life. I think my mouth was open with disbelief for at least two thirds of it.

The Blue Planet, Life, Planet Earth etc are worth the licence fee on their own.

Just what is it about nature documentaries that so effectively tickles folks' easily pleased spot?

Is it cos you can convince yourself that cabbaging out in front of a slickly produced montage of fish is performing a moral good?

Carel how can you art and not appreciate your master. All is one and we marvel at it's magnificence. Sick program. Mainly interested in the deep stuff and fortunately it just so happens to be the next episode. We know more about huge radius of space than we do the deep ocean. We should stop at nothing to find the access point to the inner earth.

Probably because it's easy telly! Simple pleasures of life. Fucking and eating.

A guid dram
Not watched one of these in years, but the last time I did it was manipulative, gimmicky and with a sentimental, ear-piercing soundtrack designed to pull at the heart strings. Also the fact the actual viewing time is cut now down to 45 mins for the US market, so 15 mins is dedicated to a 'making of', is frankly ludicrous.

I don't mind Springwatch, Winterwatch etc, but even that is getting worse tbh.

It has been well documented that Carel is an active animal hater and takes pleasure from bullying guinea pigs.

The access point to the inner earth is via an extinct volcano crater in Iceland. Everybody knows that. I suggest you contact Arne Saknussemm of Rekjavik and tell him you want to do the grand tour.

Take plenty of torch batteries.

Big, big fan of the tusk fish and the tern-eating giant trevally fella. There was one narrow escape scene which was QUITE BALLETIC

The bublous head weirdos and the dolphins having a natter with their fake killer m8s was good too, wasn't it.

Oh, and SEA OTTERS.

Great stuff really.

This is brilliant, going to spend the night watching some of Attenborough's older stuff.

Couldn't believe it when I saw that fish. Blew my mind.

I had a dream about him last night. Sigur Ros played in the background whilst he shook my hand and related to me fantastic tales of the monstrous beasts that dwell in the briny deep.
