I think it was us under Brendan Rodgers the year we won play offs in 2010.

Fulham last year was good and Bournemouth a few years ago too. Relevant as we are back in the Championship and Leeds have Bielsa now.

Depends what you like but it's most certainly us - throughout our stay in this league last time out we dominated possession every game we played near enough.

FIrst season in the champ with Martinez. 63 scored, 50 conceded.

Second under Sousa. 40 scored, 37 conceded.

Third with Rodgers. 69 scored, 42 conceded.

Passing game under Sousa was horrific. Yes we dominated possession stats but no goals means garbage.

The facts say Rodgers in our promotion season must have been the best but we were blagging to an extent, under Martinez we were more fluid & cultured.

The season that got us into the champ was the goat for textbook death by football combined with entertainment. 82 scored, 42 conceded.

Bournemouth when they won the league were a bit good. Well worth the shout.

Some lovely possession here

I was at this game, Taraabt tore them a new one. Swansea have never had such a talent in their team so not really a surprise.

Ferre Bodde was the best player in the Football League when he was at Swansea.

Yeah but it doesn’t count cos Andy Lonergan was in net and he can’t save anything hit at him from over 30 yards

Or catch anything that is crossed towards him, or move 5 yards off his line.

Bodde was great though, one of those classy players that stick in your mind like Idiakez at Derby. Faurlin at QPR was good too before his injuries.

Just imagine had he taken it serious from young. I've got a mate who supports Rhyl and so followed WPL - apparently Trundle played many games having been out on the lash the night previous. He still loved partying when down here but thankfully restrained himself to after games.

Definitely could've been an important player for England. It's always gotta come from within but somebody in Liverpool failed not getting him locked down as a youngster.

This guy knows.

TomPNE94 did you witness the greatness?
I was right behind that goal with a couple of mates, gave me the fright of my life coz it came out of absolutely nowhere. Awful game, I think the other goal was a penalty? Preston were proper fucking dire back then, though.

That our relegation season? remember that game on Sky against your lot.

A combo of Darren Ferguson/ Phil Brown, a rugby league chairman and massive cost cutting. Good times.

Actually that Bodde goal was the season we made the play-offs under Irvine.

Think it might have actually been the season you finished sixth. Remember you had Neil Mellor upfront and that donkey Carter in midfield. Mawene was still there, though, so perhaps you still had a good defence at the time. Complete lack of spark about the team, though -- was that the Irvine era?

Yeah, it was dull as shite under Irvine but we were effective that season.

Chris Brown, Jon Parkin and Neil Mellor were decent enough up top, Ross Wallace was class, Sedgwick solid on the other side, McKenna still going strong, Chaplow was good when he could be assed, then there was Billy Jones, Youl Mawene, St Ledger and Callum Davidson in defence.

Carter was rancid, also had shite like Eddie Nolan playing left back and Lonergan in goal...also signed duds like Hart, Elliot & Trotman.

Irvine ran up a wage bill of over £11m I think.

Spain are the best possession team in international football, but they struggled to create a single chance against a limited Russia.

Their patient tippy tappy possession football looked boring and old fashioned and they received plenty of negative criticism. Just shows how times change.
