Now hold up here a second Dagenham fans, you’re being a bit ridiculous with your reviews of the game here. You’re doing us a slight bit of disservice and that’s coming from me who is literally the most pessimistic Barnet fan around.

Apart from the first 15 mins where you started brightly and the last 10 where you were obviously pushing for an equaliser, you were all totally anonymous. We had all the possession (despite not often doing anything with), were never troubled, never hit on the break. We absolutely deserved to win that game overall and saying anything otherwise kind of shows you up to be a bit bitter. Maybe understandably given the Still and Daggers->Barnet player exodus, but you can’t let that blind side you. We weren’t anything more than 4/10, but still comfortably deserved that win. Your fans were excellent and your team done them proud with their efforts, but they just weren’t very good at all.

However, there’s nothing to get carried away with. While we dominated possession, we didn’t create as many chances as we should have done against a team lacking quality in every area and out build-up play was awfully slow. We’ve beaten two poor teams by 1 goal margins - yes it’s 6 points but these things need to be judged on performances rather than results at this stage.

Finally - I’ve never known a ‘targetman’ be so poor at actually being a target than Harrison. He’s 6 foot 4 but I don’t think he won a header at all today. Not because he was outchalleged at any time, but just because he’d mistime his jump. The sight of that ball sailing over his head time and time again will haunt me tonight. Just poor.

Harrison isn't a target man despite his height - 2 seasons ago he has partnered up front at Barrow with Richie Bennett who is also 6'4" - Bennett was the target man and Harrison fed off him and got about 20 goals between August and January - he got injured against Lincoln and missed most of the rest of the season. Bennett was snapped up by Carlisle just before the start of last season and Harrison was never the same again - We let him go to Sutton on loan in January - then released him.

We signed him to be a physical presence upfront but hearing you say that doesn’t surprise me. I don’t see an effective physical side to his game at all.

I just don’t see how you can be 6 foot 4 and have the ball sail over you head time and time again!

Satisfying result at the Rec this afternoon. Most of us feared a bit of a stuffing, but we ran out deserved winners. Sutton were obviously briefed to intimidate a very young Shots side, and were playing without breaking sweat up until Collins got himself sent off, rightly or wrongly,I don't know. Shots took advantage by playing the right way, patiently ,and with width, and were duly rewarded.
There is an unpleasantness about Sutton that I can't quite put a finger on,from their obnoxious manager through individuals in the team; the no. 15,Eastmond deserves mention as a nasty piece of work,in tackling and off the ball. Loved it when he was skinned by Agyepong for our second goal. A good day for our young lads, growing some balls and toughening up.

Went to Kettering Town v Bedworth in the EvoStik league today. Great win for Kettering, 5-1 and some class on show with a good crowd of 854 there to see it too.

5 wins from 5 for the Poppies, could they be on their way back

You had more possession but created very little, we had 3 chances alone to score in the last 5 minutes and missed a one on one first half, I can’t recall our keeper making a save of note apart from a miss hit cross, no way on earth did you deserve 3 points. Not bitter just my view, always an honest one. A better team would have won that, were poor we know.

Pools fans, what about that ref today?
Atrocious, some unbelievable decisions; both ways!
We are in trouble, that was awful from us worse than Saturday against Barnet.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

I suspect that as we have 7 injured first teamers to come back means we will improve as the season goes on. Right now I'm relieved we got a win regardless of how it comes.

Nice way to round off the bank holiday weekend, 4-0 home win!
Never looked in trouble, never looked like conceding and managed the game well.
Little by Little we’ve addressed the gaps in the squad and on the pitch we’ve started to knit together. Going in the right direction after a bit of an iffy start.

I mean, that’s not true but whatever. Cousins made a few decent saves but apart from that we were easily the dominant team, if just ineffective with he majority of our possession. Not sure how that transpires to us not deserving a win but hey - it’s a game of opinions I guess.

One question mind - what’s with the hate for Charlee Adams? Of all your ex-players out there he got the most stick.

The trouble is with these 'brotherhood' clubs, they long so much for a proper game against a proper football league outfit that when he comes round, it's a massive game for them. An FA cup final if you will. I bet Pools will have commemorative bedspreads and DVD's for today's game. It's difficult for goliath clubs like ourselves to get up for it in the same way.

:hypo:

They're out.

Jesus wept we were shite. Holroyd put in possibly the worst performance I've ever seen from a striker at our club, and that includes Bakare and Ogleby.

We bafflingly tried to play hoofball against centre halfs who look like they should be playing basketball, and then brought the only striker who looked as though he'd do anything off. We got it totally wrong today, I do hope it's just a bad day at the office and Ricketts learns from his mistakes today.

Yup he was awful, if you thought League 2 officials were bad just you wait.

Chesterfield were effectively playing with 10 men cos that Muggleton just isn't a footballer, is it really worth sacrificing a place in the team just because he can throw a ball really far? Thought you had some OK players in that team but plenty of plodders, Micky Nelson couldn't run 10 years ago, he looked shot and that Ugwu fella looked like he'd never seen a football before, hopeless.

You reminded me of ourselves from last season, dodgy behind the scenes but full of expectation, new manager, plenty of promising on paper signings but just not delivering, plenty of time to turn it round though.

Holroyd hasn't been the same player since Quigley came in last season. Personally would have him nowhere near the starting XI right now. And can't believe I'd have said this just a few weeks ago, but the energy of Rutherford was hugely missed in central mid...

Thought those last 10-15 mins would also have been perfect to chuck Hinds on and see what he could do, hoofball was getting us nowhere against their giants.

Agreed r.e. Ricketts. Not overly worried yet. Hope he's learned that if you're going to insist on hoofball that you keep Fondop on...

On chances created we were the better side, if possession is your thing good luck. Adams stick was non exsistant until he was waving a invisable card in the refs face asking for the keeper to be sent off, stick only came after that. He is as poor as I remember him, nothing but trying to spray 50/60 yard passes which rarely come off.

Quigley was terrible, but at least he ran for the ball. Mullings doesn't, he didn't against Maidenhead and he didn't when he came on today. I'm half thinking we should just drop both, then play Turgott as a striker.

have you bought it?!

Sitting and waiting next to the post box as we speak.

There's a lass from Mansfield I'm desperately trying to bang, she'll be all over me when she sees this, no chance of a clean sheet. :animatedf:

I don’t think our demise is over yet

If it’s any consolation, it’s actually exceedingly difficult to get relegated from this division due to the piles of absolute garbage towards the bottom. We went 15 games without a win last season and still finished halfway up. You’ll stabilise yourselves soon enough; just got to take your licks from the tinpotters whilst you adjust.

I’d recommend purchasing some celebratory condoms as well if you’re going near a lass from Mansfield otherwise you might be getting a result not quite as positive as yesterday’s

Our fans said similar last season re: getting ourselves somewhere relegated out the FL. after seeing that, which I never thought I would, I wouldn’t put it past us to get end up in financial difficulty and drop even further.

On yesterday's showing, Harrogate looked a solid enough outfit albeit not quite good enough in the final third.

Beck(?) seemed a decent enough target man at this level.

I thought they looked pretty good and, as you mention, a bit more in the final third and they would have taken all three points.

Thought Fylde were quite poor compared to what I see of them last season, but I'm sure they won't be as bad on Saturday! We've been banging on about missed chances the past few games, this is a game where we really have to take them when we create them, otherwise they'll thrash us.

We're not doing you a disservice at all.

We took the lead early and then squandered a golden chance to make it 2-0 when Cousins saved a 1v1. In the last ten minutes, we have 3 glorious opportunities (1 an absolute sitter) which we missed.

I make that 5 big chances all match and we only took one.

I agree that you guys had most of the ball but like you said above, you didn't actually do much with it. We contributed completely to our own downfall by sitting on the edge of our box for 30-40 minutes and not engaging. When we woke up, we were 2-1 down. I can't think of many superb Justham saves though (other than regulation ones) or amazing chances missed by you.

On quantity of very good chances, we were worth a point in that game, even if we only played properly for about 30 minutes of the match.

I didnt go to the game, the highlights show we had around a dozen chances which suggests we did more with the ball than I've been led to beleive. Not sure how you only managed to convert one of yours.

Just watched the highlights of our disgusting 'set-piece with 10 minutes to go' defeat yesterday. It is outrageous how narrow Solihull Motors have made their pitch. Full backs taking throw ins are nearly standing in the penalty area FFS.

Something must be done to stop this latest EVIL.

Just had a look at this myself, its quite something! Braintree have also done similar.

Part time teams don't like big pitchs it seems.............

From those highlights, we certainly look lucky to have picked up three points. Our defence was horrendously exposed for the goal, and we were very lucky to get away with the one-v-one miss which would have made it 2-0. Also, the first missed header at the end looked a real sitter.

Some of our attacking play looked nice and Harrison, who has received a lot of criticism so far, did very well for both goals. We desperately need one of our strikers to start scoring some goals though.

Personally, I still think it's too early to read anything into the League Table and I wouldn't make any bold predictions about where we will or won't finish based on what we've seen so far, however poor we might have been playing.

Dover away next and given their dire start, an excellent opportunity for us to build on the two recent wins.
