What a shower that was. Relegation certs on that showing.
Yep that was really really bad.

Heck, I'm still trying to work out what our apparent top half budget has been wasted on......this squad has very little quality

Maybe it's the ale speaking and my first game of the season (apologies to all for the disgrace that is) but that was a fucking brilliant day, atmosphere was class, proper game that. Shoulda been out of sight after half an hour and they changed their system which brought them back into it a bit. The ref and linesman were a disgrace all game. Some observations:

This Pools side has character in spades and no little quality at times

How the hell no one spotted Nico Muir before I'll never know. Him and James tore their back 3 a new arsehole, defender got subbed after 30 mins. Not the first time that's happened either

Peter Kioso is going to make us some serious cash

Magnay has really stepped up since the injury to Andrew Davies and Myles Anderson isn't actually as bad as I expected he would be

Noble is quality, Luke James is a threat.

Starting to see Featherstone's game improving now we have the system that let's him just play and what's all these screamers about? Something we aint seen in the 75 years he's been with us

You feel there's more to come from this side and for once in about 8 years I am thinking we just might have started something positive here.

Matty Bates might like having his cock all over the internet but he's doing a tidy job. Good on him.

Slight negative - 3800 odd is a crap attendance on a bank holiday with no Borer/Mackems playing however and shows there's work to do to get people back.

Been raving about Kioso all season, the guy is absolute class and only just turned 19, how we managed to get him and Muir up to the North East without anyone closer to their homes taking in interest is mental, great bit of business.

Agree about the attendance like, pretty awful considering we were the only football game on in the North East today, should've been a day to slash ticket prices and get people in, I know we're on a mini run now but people are still gonna be hesitant to hand over almost £20 to watch non league footy, sad but true.

The trouble is with these 'brotherhood' clubs, they long so much for a proper game against a proper football league outfit that when he comes round, it's a massive game for them. An FA cup final if you will. I bet Pools will have commemorative bedspreads and DVD's for today's game. It's difficult for goliath clubs like ourselves to get up for it in the same way.

:hypo:

Take care.

STILL IN!

We’re up to the giddy heights of 17th! Still said it would take 6-8 games for us to get going - let’s hope he’s right...

I still haven’t been to a game so no idea how we played today but performances don’t really matter when you start the season as poorly as we did.

Dover up next and given their form, a good opportunity for us to kick on.

Missed opportunity there definitely, tenner in it should've been. That'd put an extra 1000 on the gate and a lot of them would keep going if there was a good side to watch. I know one lad who was put off by paying 20 bar. A lot of money for people in our area. Last time he went with us was solihull last season and he said he wouldn't come back (understandable). 20 quid is a rip off for any footy below the Championship tbf. The club need to have a look at that, we had loads of deals last year and now not a single one. If RS says he has enough money for 2 years and the 3rd year we are to be self sustainable, think of stuff now not at the last minute.

Chuff me, at the 203rd attempt we beat Gateshead in a dour and uninspiring contest. We edged the first and Heed the second, the usual draw was probably not far from being the correct outcome but who cares. A tough game next Saturday, we don't often win away games when i attend and even less so on plastic pitches so if we win that one i might start drafting a Champions 2018 tattoo.

Mate who’s a Pool fans said they deserved to win and when I saw our starting line up I knew what type of game plan we had. Worrying that we don’t look threatening from open play and have to rely on dross like Muggleton, Nelson etc to launch the ball and hope we get something off the seconds. No idea when this nightmare will end but as I predicted at the start of the season, it won’t be anytime soon.

500 odd away fans deserve so much better than that dross. Allen won’t be around for long if this carries on.

Bees win v daggers but we weren't much better than Daggers.

Jack Barham up front for us looks a real find!

Harrison is terrible as is Adams in midfield totally ineffective.

Good support and noisy from Daggers fans particularly at the end when Still came over to be friends. Had we lost which was easily possible you would of had a few more calling him rude names.

Think you went 442 after getting battered for half an hour which gave us summat to think about, then you went about 6 up front towards the end but still didn't create much. Very physical side, you really looked a national league team today. Depressing but we went through it all last season so know what it's like.

From the verge of Championship football to near the bottom of the conference in 3 years. That's the definition of depressing right there

Barnet were awful. We gifted them the victory as we've done in pretty much every game this season.

Took an early lead and outplayed them for 20 minutes. Then we committed the cardinal sin of just sitting with a flat back 5 for the rest of the half. This is when we're at our worse as we're always far too static and don't track runners. 1-2 good little bits of interplay around the box and they nabbed an equaliser before half time.

The second half was even. Barnet got a goal out of nowhere really. Cracking strike but we allowed him too much space.

The last 10-15 minutes we battered them and had 3 glorious chances to equalise. The first a header six yards out, absolute plum delivery and it hits Adeloye on the shoulder. The same player then heads another great chance straight at the keeper 2 minutes later. Finally, right at the end, a scramble in the box and the ball breaks to our striker 8 yards out. He sidefoots at the keeper.

So frustrating. We're not very good but I can't criticise our team. They're young kids mostly who are giving absolutely everything. They just don't have the knowhow yet. They got a great reception at the end because despite having 1 point from 21, our fans recognise that they are doing everything in their power and that's all we can ask. That's six games now that we've lost by 1 goal (5 of them 2-1).

As for John Still, what an arrogant prick. I'll never forget the successful years he gave us. However, the way he left has left a real sour taste in my mouth. He comes over at the end, despite the stick he got throughout the match, grinning like a cheshire cat, blowing kisses at the supporters and clapping away. He got absolutely slated by our fans and rightly so. When the going gets tough, John Still gets going. No doubt he'll spin it to his needs like he always does. Was quite amusing to see 100 or so very stunned Barnet fans, in the stand to the side, who were clearly expecting us to adore him.

We didn't want to be friends as you could probably hear.

You’re crap, any half decent team will smash you. We had chance to win that today and we’re really crap.

We’re getting relegated for sure but these kids are giving there all for the cause which is a sad one. If Taylor does keep us up it will be a miracle, can’t see happening.

Really impressed with Harrogate. Best side we’ve played at home im this division. Lost a bit of flair going forward this year but we’re tremendous at the back. Happy enough with a point as we rode our luck at times. Croasdale is top drawer

Congratulations you’ve gone full Tranmere, never go full Tranmere. We went from top of league 1 on New Year’s Day 2013 to relegation to league 2 a year later then straight down again to national league.

You’ll have a mediocre season this year, lose the play off final next season but rest assured you’ll win the play off final 2020/21!

I don't know how we have done it but we seem to have signed a forward who is actually worse than Delano Sam Yorke.

Joe Quigley is fucking terrible!! He's slow, has the turning speed of an oil tanker, wins nothing in the air, gets bullied off the ball easily, puts in very little effort & overall looks like he doesn't give a shit.

Sounds about right from what I’ve heard.

However, let’s be honest - the quality down here is usually pretty awful. Confidence plays such a huge role and with a number of key players set to return at some point, we need to keep grinding wins out and get on a run to keep us in with a sniff at top 7.

I seem to recall a couple of posters on here trying to tell you that in pre-season! ;)

No chance your lot are getting top 7, way off the pace. If it happens we should all pack up and go home. We have one point from 7 and have lost 6 yet still should have beaten your lot today, sums up your current side perfectly.

Worst I've seen Maidstone play in a very very long time, made worse by terrible decisions from the manager. I will not be a whinger, I will not be a whinger, I will not be a whinger.

After 6 season of poor football & 2 of utter dogshit, fans aren't going to return cos we beat Maidenhead & Dagenham.
Today's result might get people interested again though.
The home crowd was 400 up on our last game,so we are going in the right direction.
As for the game,it was great. All over Chesterfield,I couldn't believe how bad they were,& really should have been 3 up at half time.
Pretty comfortable in the 2nd half, with Chesterfield only threatening when they stopped using the long throw tactic
Allen has took them back to the dark ages with that style of football.
