Regardless of his whereabouts, I hope the protests go ahead. Don't understand the fans on VTID who are against the planned protest :pond:

Mysteriously not there yesterday when Askey was unveiled and mentioned he would clarify his position in his statement after the fans voted to protest!

Possibly handing it back to Garlick for a while?

And Garlick has been equally anonymous really.

Well we avoided being wound up yesterday thanks to the dearly departed lying joke that is Stewart Day. A quick look on HMRC showed a tonne of his 'businesses' (and I use that term in the most loose way possible) are either in administration or have been dissolved.

A well respected Bury FC fan after being told Day's 'door is always open' spent months chasing Day down to ask him some questions. When he finally got to sit down with him he pointed to the good work being done with the youth team, fatty liar man loved that.
Said fan then pointed at our wage bill, losses and big name signings.
The joke's response was to laugh at him and declare it was as though he was chatting to an Accrington Stanley supporter. Kind of funny that when the joke left Stanley were a division above us and all done whilst balancing their books.

Can't think why.....

In all seriousness it is because King Kev had to use a cover name to avoid being slandered by our so called fans on the message board.

To think all my hard work saving the club nearly went to pot thanks to Day.

It was only in the news because it was HMRC anyone else and it wouldn't have been reported. Annoying really after all the positive media we've had recently.

Still we have to expect this stuff for the next couple of years and it shows what a shit position we were put in by Day.

Our owner decided to, without any warning to fans, close the terracing in front of the director's box on Saturday as he was attending and didn't want the fans singing/shouting anything against him nearby. This led to many fans displaced, people still stuck queuing for tickets on the other side of the ground around half an hour after kick off, a reduced atmosphere (which isn't great most days) and reduced bar takings etc. Supposed to be in place for the rest of the season.

Like fatty liar man Day, your chairman seems to quite like the none paying of players also.

"Not paying players" is the correct answer to the first question in the League Two fit and proper person exam.

Guess we'll find out in a few days whether we manage to get the "paying employees" bit right this time around after the last two months of having issues.

If we're to have any chance of staying up we need to win at least 3 of our 4 home games; displacing and angering your club's fans, and negatively impacting the atmosphere is not going to help the desperate fight for survival.

Until someone's chairman whips out their wedding tackle on social media we are claiming ours is the worst.

I bet there isn't another owner/chairman who's closed off an entire stand without telling supporters just so they can watch the match from it without having to interact with anyone. Power mad petulance from those in charge - thankfully our supporters are trying to stand up to it.

An open fans forum taking questions from the floor, but the questions have to be written down, handed in, checked before a select number are read out.

First set of questions selected ensure the chairman is made to look fantastic.
Ensuring that when some tougher questions are asked (so chairman can claim he has allayed fan's fears) said liar answers them with his usual web of half answers and lies, but with most of the room now onside.

Said fans forum was a one off, questions were normally put to the lying joke in his living room by his vile sidekick. Unbelievably, despite the interviews being packed with the usual lies, BS and corney dialogue detailing how amazing liar man was, fans on our MB used to buy the pile of propoganda shite.

Tbf I bet your owners don't appear on local, and national radio telling the world what an amazing chairman you are, or constantly do interviews and reports in the local newspaper telling the world you are getting a new stadium or that you are taking the club to the championship.

If Day kept a low profile I wouldn't have minded so much, but he loved being in the public eye, for this reason I think (only under pressure) he'd give in and do a forum. But even then he'd control it all so that he looked good.

You're quite right, the complete opposite for ours in fact. They never said a word to anyone.

This was the standard of the type of crap that idiot used to constantly spout. Yet he would fail to address the on going concerns of fans when a CCJ or WUP surfaced on companies house or online.
At the aforementioned Fans Forum when the question was finally asked (right at the very end) about the WUPS, CCJs and club's financial position he tried to turn it into a bit of a joke, which, infuriatingly, most of the room fell for.

Like it was some kind of joke that many small companies, like electricians, plumbers etc were having to take Bury FC to court to get a few grand for jobs they'd done. It was embarrassing.

Surely it's better to have a bad owner that talks, rather than one that doesn't? At least you can hear the shite they trot out first hand. It's those owners you never see or never hear from who are the worst.

Ours was a PR mess half the time! Didn’t appoint JFL as worried about racism, the Exeter cup rant, admitting he forced Rob Page out to name a few! The administration threat is a huge PR mess as people who’ve booked weddings etc will panic and players, suppliers etc will be worried.

It goes without saying you don't want a bad owner full stop.

I think half the issue with rogue owners is that it usually takes a while for the true extent of their ineptitude to be brought to light. For example, with Oyston it took three years for it to be revealed he took a salary of £11m from the club during Blackpool's season in the Premier League.

My concern with owners who aren't transparent is that they could be up to anything behind closed doors. At least if you've got an owner that talks shite publicly there's no defending them, it's all out there in the open and the fanbase can unite in trying to force them out.

Irritatingly ours didn't, it was at best divided at worse supportive.
I think the way Day manipulated the situation in the media, getting Radio Manchester on side in particular helped swing things in his favour. As mentioned above a fans forum, he manipulated all that so he could speak freely and paint this image of a suave businessman with lots of money who knew what he was talking about.

Two out and out lies told that night. One was that the new stadium was on the back burner but the club would revisit it in the future. However in the meantime the club was going to redevelop the social club into a Gastro pub that would bring in revenue seven days a week. He insisted there was planning permission and all was set to be given the go ahead and it would open in August (2018). Surprise, surprise there was no planning permission and no such plans ever existed.
The new stadium meanwhile was brushed under the carpet after the liar had spent 18 months telling us the club couldn't survive without it.

His next lie was that his latest business portfolio was about to be sold off at a 60 million pound profit. When that happened all debts would be cleared. He rather stupidly said it would happen in the next week.

I gave it a month and despite lots of googling of Stewart Day and business deal I found no evidence of any kind of business deal past or present made by Stewart Day. Just a large amount of dormant companies.

This is an important thread in the sense that the fans can swap info on owners. Cambridge Uniteds management has been horrific for a quarter of a century, and there is no hope it will get better. It will cost them even if its only me, i wont be buying another season ticket until the board show transparency, honesty, communication, and competency on and off the pitch. That means never.

There is a conspiracy of silence, you can only draw the worst of conclusions. And that is that money is finding its way out of the club, rather than money coming into it from board members.
These problems seem to be widespread, we should be very worried.

If true fans were in charge, none of this would happen would it? Or until it came to managing huge sums of money. Sodom and Gomorrah would still be here if god could find one honest man. Maybe football is fatally flawed, and corruption will always be rife. Business, society, governments, you name it, its all riven with criminality. All of it. Just look at the catholic church....
