Leamington 2 Brackley 0. Thought Brackley looked pretty good...but I've said that each time I've watched them and they never seem to take their chances (against Leamington anyway!). Decent game and a good start for Brakes, picking up 4 points from Kiddy and Brackley.

We never take our chances against anyone... year after year. If we'd just taken our chances against you in the Christmas games last year & not let in one of the 2 94th min goals we let in elsewhere, we'd have finished top. No chance of / don't deserve to be going up until we do take our chances. If we could have got Aaron Williams back then maybe... but it will be another frustrating year for us this season I'm pretty certain of already.

Only visit so far was Alfreton, where we didn`t create enough with Shane Byrne missing. Goals in four games since few and far between. Wilkin has brought in two new strikers, but they seem to have had little game time so far. Not sure why. Potentially another frustrating season, and as I`ve suggested before, I can`t see this squad staying together beyond another failure to go up. Early days, and I`ll be at Hereford to see whether we can get the goals column up.

Been away so haven't seen anything other than preseason, so can only base it on reports, but it does feel a bit like groundhog day - as you say 3 goals in 5 matches hardly impresses. I really like Kevin, but he has a real habit of bringing in strikers who get 5 mins as a sub if lucky match in match out and never get going. Even Aaron Williams got no game time till he bagged 3 in the County Cup in October, which gave him the confidence to go on & be the best striker we've seen at the club (even if I still have a soft spot for Matt Murphy from a decade back). But unless you play 'em sometimes how do you know what they can do? Largely agree with you that if we don't make it this year, it is time to really reconstruct the team, not just roll out the same players for go after go after go.

Match at Spennymoor Saturday is all ticket for York fans but can only get from York ticket office.
Home end is not all ticket and not segregated so fans not living in York can pay on day.so what’s the point of this,I for one are on holiday till Friday and can’t make ticket office.
Only in this league could this happen, why did not Spennymoor send them before home game on Saturday.

Not surprised. Spennymoor have proven not to be the smartest run club.

Unbelievable it is all ticket for both with 5 days notice.
York have 750 tickets and only available from club office, not happy on holiday till Friday night.
Tin pot Spennymoor tickets are on sale in a bloody pub The Moors Tavern.
Why not send them before weekend they were aware of building work not completed.

Fantastic! He's the signing of the season so far in some fans eyes. I think he's excellent and great bombing down the wing.
Aye, Taylor has looked good so far.

Haven't been strongly tested at the back yet but going forward he's been a right menace.

Surprised to hear that always thought he was very average and feel its one position we've improved on. At some point he will get found out. Do you play a back 5 or back 4? In a back 4 his lack of tracking back is evident

I'd seen the comments about his possible defensive frailty just after we'd signed him. In pre-season, where we played three at the back, he looked lost, without any innate defensive positioning sense. However we're now playing with a back four and utilising his very effective attacking play. Defensively he's not looking exposed: perhaps because we're set up better to cover any such exposure. The managers seem delighted with what he's bringing to the table. Will be interested in your comments after you've seen him again on Saturday.

I see the pride of County Durham have stated this match will be a three-sided ground view for the spectators, and strangely enough the game will not be segregated :conf:

Always a big fans favourite at Guiseley. His opening goal v Cambridge United in last season's FA cup will forever be remembered! Have a look :)

What a beauty that was a stunning goal, great control soon as it left his foot you knew where it was going! :) He's a fantastic signing for us, seems to cover every blade of grass.

Yeah, just can't seem to settle anywhere.

That's 3 short stints at clubs in the last year. Keeps trying to make it work, but it seems his mind is elsewhere, which is a shame.

Seems to be building up his coaching/mental health business, though, so maybe he's now realised that needs his focus rather than trying to do too many things.

Alfreton away at Guiseley later who have had a good start and sit in 2nd place. We have also started well and have been unfortunate to come out empty handed from our two previous away trips. The leagues two top scorers with 22 goals scored between us so hopefully a good game in prospect!

Kidderminster (a) for us. Been there half a dozen times, but haven't seen us win there for about 15 years. We never seem to 'turn up' there for some reason. Draw would be like a win for us.

Guiseley 1-2 Alfreton (referee 3)?
Some bizarre and incredibly soft decisions from the ref today.

Not a bad game to watch, Guiseley work rate not up to the usual standards and two sitters missed in the second half. Alfreton probably deserving of the three points overall.
Bloody hot out there so full respect to both teams for the effort shown.

Decent performance today against a strong-looking Brackley side. 1-1 a fair result.

Good win and performance today, 2/3-0 would've probably been a fairer reflection of how it went.

Nearly ballsed it up in true Chester fashion though. Nice to win at Aggborough for a change, we usually save the worst of ourselves for the place.

Guiseley 2-4 Alfreton

Outstanding performance from us today despite the refs awful showing and his best efforts to make the game all about him.
That freekick in the first half from Bobby J was something else too, Magnificent
To a man I thought our work ethic and application was excellent against a decent Guiseley side. The best team spirit I have seen from an Alfreton side for a while. We responded in the best way possible to adversity with the ridiculous in direct freekick decision by winning a soft penalty I thought which sums up the refs performance. Two wrongs dont make a right.

Overall a brilliant away day at a nice away ground. Really like Nethermoor for some reason. The first time we have scored four away from home since January 2016 at Brackley probably helps!

The early signs are good for a successful season but we started well last season and look how that turned out so I am keeping my feet on the ground but there does seem to be something special about this team. The character they have shown has been tremendous

With Boston missing players and us having 3 out, including Marlon and Jennison again, it was difficult to predict this one. Certainly didn't see the performance we put in coming though.

After the drubbing at Chester that was the perfect response. Robert's passing was immaculate and Parker and Harper's pace continually caused Boston problems.

Much better from us, think I'd be pretty frustrated if I was a Boston fan going back on the coach though. Not the best display

Nothing special York win 4-1 away at a fancied side. Still looking good and 4 points infront of the poundland version of our great City.

Deserved win for Chester. We lacked quality and missed an open goal at thend. The game could have been so different if the ref had aawarded a stonewall pen on Chambers after 4 minutes. Chester keeper drops it Chambers nicks the ball away from him gets caught and somehow a throw in was given.

With Weeks going off injured we have 11 fit first team players. Apparently under a transfer embargo with the takeover going on. Could write off this season before it's began.

Oh boy we left that late and my god what a goal from Campbell! Great decision from him curling a free kick in the top corner of the net, was expecting floating the ball in for our central defenders. Nice work from Donawa! Good to see his family in attendance.

Absolutely baking hot day, conditions weren't great for the players with that heat but we played some great football at times, but for all the possession we had we just couldn't break down a solid Alty defence who played a long period of the match with 10 men.

Good to see Atkinson back he had a solid game, as for Hatfield he was all over the place.
Once again as they are week in and week out a very strange referee at times.

I think overall pretty pleased with that point, especially as we were heading to another away defeat. So close for Alty like they must be gutted. Good following of Quaker fan's on the terraces, even better when that goal went in. What a relief!

York were excellent first half, got a very hard working team.but Spennymoor caused use problems in 2nd half and they will click into groove and be up near top.
Believe Spennymoor is one of the hardest places to win, mainly due to pitch being on a hill, which by the way doesn’t seem any smaller despite the work done.
