Southend at home for us, we owe them for giving us Steve Tilson and Paul Brush. Jason Shackell returns from a 6 match suspension. Whilst a top player, he doesn't replace Bolger or Bostwick imo who haven't conceded a goal so far this season. Same team as Accy/Rotherham please oh and the same result.

You can beat us regularly for the next 100 years, the 2005 playoff final memories gives you more than enough credit.
Bolger should get a good reception from the away end, good player for us.
God knows about our team lineup, formation or anything. Lennon injured, again, hoping Ethan Hamilton can start for us though and surely Theo to come off the bench and score is a given.

There's a bit about Tilson in the Southend Echo. Don't think he'll be coming to the game .

Whole load about the Cowleys as well, what with all the local connections.

Pompey at home will be a tough game that i personally can see being 1-1 or a goal either way. We have had a slow start but played well in the carabao cup so that will give the players some confidence to win but i just have a horrible gut feeling pompey will nick it. Hope i’m wrong, haway the lads.

Bond must be on shaky ground too. We've already helped dispatch Siewert this season :bg:

We’ll lose.
Well you lads, I did say you would be up for it. Sounded a really good game, end to end so well done and have a good season
We have 2 successive home games where we accumulated 2 points in the respective matches last season so good chance to improve on that

Cheers cod very end to end game the ref as usual was a joke and very nice to benefit from a late winner instead of conceding one.

0-0 at Shrewsbury on paper is a good result, however we should have won really. Disallowed goal where I didn’t think Henderson touched it, the replay will confirm it either way. Both teams had some good chances but I think we had the better of it, and for the fourth game running we absolutely bossed a game possession wise, the football we are playing this season is a refreshing change!

We got absolutely battered by Oxford but somehow won . Hopefully that was just a terrible performance on the day from us with a few key players missing . Oxford looked very impressive and will most certainly be challenging the top 6 this season. They will play much worse and win games this season.

Absolute dog turd from Southend from 25 minutes onwards.

It was a fairly even start and I thought we were in for half a game although we were the ones creating half openings but once the first goal went in, that was it. We stepped it up a gear, they couldn't keep up with the work rate and pressing (or the attempt at it, anyway) and we overpowered and ripped through them quite comfortably in the end. If we weren't saving a bit of energy in the final 10 and playing keep ball then we perhaps could have gone for another one or two.

Probably the best home game since MK Dons last September. Good chance to give Bostwick, Anderson and Walker a breather as well.

Their number 19, left sided CB could've had 4 bookings not just the one he got, their Captain in CM was a nothing player who trotted around looking very pretty but not doing anything. Their best player on the day was probably their RB, although that's a bit of a back handed compliment.

The lad that came on at HT, with a face mask, at least was trying to work hard and make something happen.

Southend were very poor indeed, once they went behind they fell pieces and became ill displinced rabble and very lucky to end with 11.
We played some great stuff at times, the fourth goal was a great move.
Can't see Bond lasting much longer, fair play to 600 Southend fans most whom stopped until the end.

Thanks. Nice to see an opposition fan being honest for a change. From about 15 minutes in it was pretty much one way traffic.

Once we are at full strength we will take some stopping. It's good to watch too, so as much as I hate losing, I'm strangely pleased with our season so far.

PS: Can somebody please shoot Darren Fucking Drysdale!!!

we were utterly dire, truly awful. I can't even pass judgement on Lincoln we were that bad. Their keepers kicking is crap, probably as much as I can say on them and I would have given the 26 man of the match rather than Payne.

Bond's days are numbered, he's lost most of the players already. Here are some quotes after I asked a few questions after the game about whether they were instructed to play the slow, ponderous keep ball or whether they just aren't listening to the manager.

"We're being setup like this, we don't want to play this way"

"You won't see any other team in League One playing like this and there are many reasons, obvious to you, obvious to me"

"It starts with trying to cut out the silly mistakes but how we're being asked to play is not helping."

"The instructions are to play like this, but you can see it isn't working, everyone can see it isn't working, we just need to change it"

"I don't know why we're trying to play slow keep ball."

Yeah, Anderson had a good game.

r.e. Vickers' kicking, he has a long standing groin issue that doesn't seem to be curable so he's had to change his kicking style this season to prevent another breakdown and he doesn't look overly comfortable with it! His kicking was one of his strengths prior to that.

Welcome to Portsmouth, where a phobia of decent fucking final balls has taken ahold of the city!

Brown and Curtis who are usually pretty reliable, just couldn’t put a basic ball in, it was so frustrating. Walkes and Burgess were dreadful too. We have (arguably) two of the best headers of a ball on the pitch (Marquis and Harrison), just get it in there!!

Lost 1-0 to Rotherham but plenty of encouragement. Hit the bar the post and had other chances to get a point.
However we did not play well and looked lethargic. 2nd defeat already this season.
Also, hitting the bar and post is not unlucky its bad finishing.
We need to convert these chances and not bemoaning our rotten luck.

We are terrible. Still haven’t scored this season.

Southend & ourselves to fill the last 2 places unless something drastically changes

You can’t even offload Bennett to us now. Looks like we’re back in for Devitt.

Come on, Gassy, what’s the actual deal with Wael? Is it all a sham?

Curtis looks completely out of ideas, I’m fast losing any patience I had with him. He’s a cocky diva and that only passes if you have the quality to go along with it. Walkes was abysmal and I pray that Bolton is an upgrade on him otherwise we have a serious weak link which will be exploited.

Marquis must have been losing his mind, he got almost no service in the first half, and only Harness really made an effort to get the ball to his feet in the second.

Positives to be had though, I thought we looked good in fits and starts, and despite the loss I think we were easily deserving of at least a draw yesterday. I feel fairly confident we’ll come good but there is a lot of work to be done. The other question is how on earth we can fit McCrorie into this team? He has to play, but who for?
