Especially if we get one or 2 of the players in the stands who were watching the game yesterday as the squad would have depth in key positions.
Someone in our programme yesterday was tipping Oxford as dark horses.

If we can add a bit more pace then we look on paper to have a good balance/mix of player types which would be encouraging, of course at this stage it is on paper.

Trent ALexander-Arnold was watching our game yesterday so that could be the pace sorted. :bg:

Was TAA there to watch Woodburn? Fair play to him if so. Nice thing to do.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but if the two players in the stand yesterday sign then blimey, we are in with a chance.

Atmosphere ebbed and flowed yesterday, shame the Ultras are no longer going. Makes a bland ground even blander.

I thought a draw would have been the right result at stadium:mk. Both teams defended solidly, both suffered from Brett Huxtable wanting to be the star of the show again, and we were just lucky that Shrewsbury thought it was actually a good idea to sign Ebanks Landell, and that his deflection wrongfooted the goalkeeper with 15 seconds or so left.

Conditions were awful at the weekend, but they're the same for both sides and Burton dealt with them better than we did. Scored early thanks to the Albion keeper colliding with one of his own and dropping the ball to Cisse who tried his best to put it over the bar but found the roof of the net. After that I honestly can't remember an effort on target - certainly not one that the keeper had to busy himself with. Burton had a couple of chances to level before they finally did - Boyce missed a one-on-one and Akins missed the penalty - but in fairness their lad took it well (may have been wind-assisted from my angle, not seen it back). Couple of minutes later and they net again from close range and what looked like a decent half time lead completely wiped out in a few minutes - same as at Donny the week before.

Second half was dire. Made 3 early subs and spent 45 minutes chipping little back-spinning dinks into Mandron and expecting him to produce from that. Was never going to work. Couple of changes of shape second half too, but nothing changed the 'look for Mandron' tactic. Burton decided to actually use the big green rectangle thingy and could've scored a couple more on the counter - Boyce again missing probably their best chance.

2-1 sounds like a close fought defeat, but to be honest 4-1 wouldn't have flattered.

How are Cisse, Hodson and O’Keefe looking for you guys? I’ve got a lot of time for the first 2 after their spells here, and O’Keefe looked solid when he was here a couple of years ago

Cisse got hooked after about 55 minutes on saturday, really not an impressive display. Hodson is ok, but no upgrade on O'Neill realistically, while O'Keefe seems competent enough. Ball was going over the heads on the midfield too much to judge him fairly though.

Groundhog day for us. Saw the lineup - thought, oh better, saw the formation, thought, give Blackpool the points.
Carbon copy of last week, 1st half, shocking, tactics, set up, un fit players, difference was terrible individual error (Oxley) and Blackpool could finish. Last week the game should have been over at half time, this time it was.
Finally Bond moves to 4-4-2 after 50 minutes and lo and behold we look far better. Blackpool completely comfortable, neat on the ball, good pressing and physical when they needed to be, wouldn't be surprised to see them top 6 come the end of the season.

What has happened post game though was more interesting. Bond's post match interview to BBC Essex was bizarre as you like, threw his players under the bus and would literally not take any responsibility for the defeat. He sounded desperate, senile and like he wasn't at the match. The only thing he'd concede was he maybe shouldn't have started Ridgewell due to him not actually being fit. He was appalling, probably the worst Southend debut since Neville Southall.

Yeah it was weird.

Considering both times we've switched to 442 we've looked 10x the side as to when playing these other formations. Cannot see him lasting long if he carries on like this.

Yes, TAA was there for Woodburn as they're best mates I believe.

There was 3 players there and looking on paper I'd be happy with all 3.

Atmosphere was ok in the East Stand, more old school chanting but it is a pity about the Ultras as they did add colour and atmosphere. Hopefully the Mural for the back of the East Stand adds some colour to the ground! The flag for the Swindon game will never be forgotten and hopefully a new generation take up the mantle (and the club/stadium company are more accommodating!).

It was a good job Husband got sent off as it was looking like a cricket score and we didn't really get going.

I'm not sure if we're that good or if you were that bad but Bond was absolutely off his rocker.

You just got battered for 45 minutes and were fortunate it was only 3-0 at HT.

Mural would be good, stadium move would be better. Atmosphere was ok right side East Stand, hopefully things gear up if we put in some more good displays. Can't make every game due to work and where I live, but hoping to get to as many as possible. Championship here we come?!

Big game Saturday lunch time on sky. Having played each other 4 times in the last few months of the season its turned into a bit of a grudge match between us. Two big sides in the division, both not been acheiving what the fans and onlookers expect so far. Sunderland not been on the greatest run with Sunderland fans not happy with Ross, the formation, players out of position etc. . We are a slow burner of a team having lots of new players in key positions.
KJ seems to have shifted our 4231 to a 433/451 formation
Hopefully Kenny won't change the team that much, but I think the two changes could be Marquis for Harrison and possibly as its an away game put McCrorie in for Cannon. Cannon has been a surprise one, but was really good v Brummies reserves in the cup and had an all action game v Tranmere, but McCrorie is more of a tough tackling defensive player. Little bit worried about our right hand side as Walkes and Harness are both young and new to the side. Going forward won't be an issue as I think Sunderland are having issues with their LB position, but if McGeady or Maguire play on that left back side Walkes and Harness with have to be on it.
---------- ---MacGillivray
----Walkes Downing Burgess Brown
--------- Naylor Close McCrorie
Harness------------------------------ Curtis
--------------------Marquis

I'm going for a 1-1 draw as we aren't on top form at the moment. Marquis to get his first of the season. The last few matches points have been earned mostly by the GKs, so it'll be interesting to see what happens

We really need to go at them early. Don't give them any time to settle and their crowd will quickly turn. Sit back and we'll hand the game to them.

Another 1-1 might be a decent result but I'd like Jacket to be more positive this time around. Go for it I say, early in the season and could set us up for a good run. Losing now won't do too much damage.

Shrewsbury away on Saturday, and an early reunion with last season's loan hero Ethan Ebanks-Landell. Yes, MK fans, the lad did well for us!

Fancy us to win again. Probably 3-2 - we have goals in us, but we still don't do clean sheets. Henderson, Pyke and Camps to score, with two late, towering headers from "The Eel" giving us late palpitations of the Tranmere variety...

If you have pace then that will be a problem for Sunderland as they don't appear to have much of it.

Rotherham on Saturday and I have absolutely no idea what the score will be..although we have a pretty decent home record.
It depends on which Rotherham turn up I guess.

Southend at home for us, we owe them for giving us Steve Tilson and Paul Brush. Jason Shackell returns from a 6 match suspension. Whilst a top player, he doesn't replace Bolger or Bostwick imo who haven't conceded a goal so far this season. Same team as Accy/Rotherham please oh and the same result.

As above, we have Southend tomorrow.

Shackell back after his 6 game ban but I'd be amazed if Cowley split up Bolger and Bostwick after three clean sheets on the spin and I suspect Vickers, Eardley, O'Connor, Grant and Walker will come back into the side.

Tilson's last football league win was actually against Southend for us.

There's a bit about Tilson in the Southend Echo. Don't think he'll be coming to the game .

Yeah, I read that. Nothing particularly wrong in there but it's twisted well in his favour.

Missing training because of being in Essex wasn't mentioned so he didn't do everything he could, nor was the fact that the fringe players were pissed off not just because of loans coming in (and improving the side to be fair) but because he told them all they were surplus to requirements, useless and being released a the end of the season. Then he had to rely on them in the final 10 games. Awkward...

Donny Rovers will be well up for this game, 2 losses last year against us, no goals scored, 7 conceded, plus we get a descent player from you in Danny Andrews
Tbh we have played well in both opening matches together with a good shift against Forest in mid week. Ched Evans is still not match fit but Conor McAleny is playing some great football, the only thing missing is a goal or two
A draw will be a good result for the Cods 1-1

I think you will find we would snatch your hands off for a draw. I can’t see anything but another win for yourselves to be honest
