Didnt go to plan. Sounded like we had alot of the ball but Shrews were extremely disciplined and stopped us getting past them and get any meaningful crosses in. Could see what was going to happen when we couldn't make our possession count. Shrews winning it with their only shot on target. Was a screamer and he'll never score a better one in his life! Player wise our attacking force is the best in the league. But that counts for nothing if we can't get them to work together. Just need them to gel quickly.
How did harness play?

I'll wait for someone who actually went for a proper assessment, but from the radio commentary he sounded lively without actually creating anything. Got subbed in the second half. It's early doors, though.

I was impressed with Rochdale today, who were worthy winners at Prenton. Their 3rd goal was a peach of a team goal and I thought the 2-3 scoreline flattered us.
If Rochdale are amongst the relegation favourites then it’s going to be a long hard season for us. Thought Stefan Payne was unlucky to be hauled off at half time and we really missed Jake Caprice.
Good to see a healthy 8000+ crowd, most of whom staying behind the team despite things not going our way.

I think first half you were unlucky to be behind but second half we absolutely bossed it. Annoying to give away such cheap goals I think but that’s our main issue, we aren’t great at defending. Probably the best I’ve seen us play for a long time though, we actually looked like a team. 2nd and 3rd goals were excellent, I don’t think 3-0 would have flattered us really on the day. Best of luck Tranmere, enjoyed the day out, it’s never easy on crutches though! I’m sure you’ll find your feet and it would appear there is only realistically 2 relegation spots to try and avoid.

We have a mean defence and won’t concede many. But unless we strengthen we won’t create or score many either. Pompey looked useful and we probably got them at the best possible time this season before they get well and truly ‘warmed up’.

One bad half one good half. We lost to two set pieces. Usually our strength. Not awful from imus but we are lightweight up top.

I don't think any of the attacking three behind Marquis had good games. They were very well nullified by Shrewsburys back 5 which we really struggled to get behind. Can't see many sides getting much at their place. They are a big defensive unit

Lovely day in Birmingham bar the result.
Positives for Southend: Defence massively better, Saughnessy, Milligan and especially Ralph look good signings, so impressed with Nathan Ralph today, great positionally, tackling, heading and going forward. You can see what Bond is trying to do with the team and hopefully when we get a few more in to match his system it might click more.

Negatives: Awful setup and tactics to start, 4-5-1, players out of position, playing for 0-0. Trying to lump it into the channels for Theo Robinson was hideous on every level, credit to Bond for changing it but we need some wingers in the system he wants to play. We had a go last 20 minutes and got some real pressure, hit the bar, one fantastic Marosi save as well.

Cov: Looked very decent, wonderful movement and if they'd had some strikers who could finish would have won the game by half time. Their weakness looked to be their fullbacks, think any team with some decent wide men will give them problems.

Thought Rochdale were a solid side and fair play to them. They’re a settled squad who know the league well. We created a fair amount of chances which was good to see and i’m looking forward to seeing the squad when the new signings are used to the way we play.

Ferrier looked good when he came on and Hepburn Murphy is lightning! Shame he now has a ban to stall his TRFC start... We missed Caprice massively and if we had him playing I don’t think we lose that game yesterday.

Lots to work on but expectations are low this season. Fans were brilliant at the end.

0 creativity in the midfield. We have a winger coming in on loan from Leicester this week and Olly Lee hopefully. Let’s hope they give us some spark but yes the defence looked much better and Ralph looks a class act

New owner, new manager, new start. This game was far bigger and you couldn't muster 10k. Back to your sub 6k crowds soon enough.

No interest in reading your Bum Henry Street forum thank you very much.

Listen Nobber, you are very confused. We got 16k for our big return match. 11,300 for a League One fixture is decent. You don't get much more in the Championship.

You lost to Millwall and your fans are pissed off. Is that why you are bitter? Either that or you are genuinely worried that Blackpool are back. Let's not remember, we took more fans to Wembley than you for a League One play-off final.

I could accept a bigger club taking the piss, but Preston? Jumped up City with more empty seats than bums on seats. Shit atmosphere as well.

Haha, cool rant.

Well done, more people went for a day out to Wembley from your town than ours did after we've had 9 play-off defeats.. Look at our play-off finals before that and we've taken far more than you ever have but it's completely irrelevant, half of them aren't normal match going fans.

Massive feel good factor, finally got your club back after a few years of non-attendance and an offer where season ticket holders could bring a pal for £15 and you can't even hit 10k. That's really pathetic.

You weren't even getting 8,000 home fans in the Championship before Karl Oyston got you promoted to the Prem, he even had to introduce £200 season tickets to keep your glory hunters interested after relegation. Awful club.

You are back, a mid-table League One club with an average crowd of about 6,000 who took thirty years to get back to the second tier last time. I'm shitting my pants...

I'm glad we can laugh at you without you using the boycott and those meanie Oystons as an excuse now.

Enjoy Fleetwood away.

How bizarre. Someone criticising a 10k attendance in League One. Preston folks, yes Preston!

We will enjoy Fleetwood away, Blackpool will take over the ground and make it a good occasion. You enjoy losing on the road every week.

This is Preston in the capital singing about David Nugent being an England international. Losers.

Without that £15 offer, you'll never see a home crowd above 9k again this year.

Imagine not watching your club for years, you finally get a new owner who is a fan of the club, spends some money for the first time in years, brings back an old hero manager and your shit hole town can't even muster 10,000 fans even with a cheap ticket offer.

Pissed up fans having a laugh at an away game, heaven forbid.

The £15 quid offer is only 5 quid cheaper than a match day ticket. I know a fiver is a big deal in Preston but it won't have influenced the gate at Blackpool by any significant amount.

I can tell you know that if we are battling promotion, we will easily get 10k crowds and you know it bitch.

Even if we forget about the crowds for a second, you must watch Blackpool videos online thinking if only we could have an atmosphere like that? I appreciate empty seats don't contribute to the atmosphere though.

Bitch, haha

You can't tell us shit LBD, you've been coming on our forum for months telling us how you'll be averaging about 14k this season. Everything you say is utter bollocks.

Safe to say I don't watch any lasher videos, League One really doesn't get much coverage but I imagine you amazing atmosphere every week is about as realistic as your numbers.

PS. Sorry for having a good stadium which can take advantage of big cup crowds and big away followings.

I didn't really say we would get 14k crowds this season. I know you are losing the argument, but don't lie in an attempt to restore some pride!

Anyway, I think other clubs don't want to read this so back on topic.

How do you lose to a lying twat? Considering you love PNE Online so much i'll quote some of your hilarious fibs on there to jog your memory for you. Such a fucking sad act.

Where do you get the names Nobbers and Lashers from?

Preston Nob End, we call ourselves nobbers to be fair.
Donkey Lashers, the only real growth industry in Blackpool.

I've been to Blackpool a few times and never actually seen a donkey, well except our shit on the pitch last season.

That said some of the people I've come across there, I've rather a donkey. They could count to 7 on one hand.
