Darlington have signed Simon Ainge from Harrogate.

Reece Styche and Simon Ainge up front, with player of the year Stephen Thompson supplying the ammo, and Liam Hughes pulling the strings in midfield?

Our stall = set.

Darlington have signed Simon Ainge from Harrogate Town. He scored one less goal then Harry Kane in 2017. . even though he was out injured for the last 3 months!!
I was hoping he was coming with us so needless to say, fantastic signing for Darlington.

Great signing for Darlo that. I'm guessing it didn't work out for him at Wrexham then?

Stockport County have been the subject of two take over bids one with links to Vincent Kompany - https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...nt-kompany-stockport-county-takeover-14723931

Could be interesting. I'm not with the pitchfork brigade re the current owners that some our fans seem to be as at the end of the day they've stuck their own money in when no one else would, but it's quite clear they don't have the resources or vision to get us out of this league, nevermind back into the FL (hohoho).

However if Kompany wants to turn us into some outpost of Manchester City he can do one.

We should’ve given Ainge more of a chance. I think he started one game, then the rest of the time he got 10 mins (if that) near the end of the game. The guy was clearly not match fit and the only way he would become match fit is by playing games, yet we just let Boden stand in the middle of the pitch watching the game pass him by instead. He looked very good in the air though, possesses a mean header and battled well. I wouldn’t have been against inviting back for pre season to get his fitness up, or give him an initial 6 month deal. He’ll do well for Darlington I think.

I'd have to say if it wasn't for his injury, that Kane dude would be bowing to Ainge!

Icing on the cake this summer for us would be the return of the outstanding Middlesbrough youngster Aynsley Pears back between the sticks

Had a recent look at the Middlesbrough Reserves and Academy are the under-21 and under-18 teams of Middlesbrough F.C. Surprisingly including Pears, they have 6 goalkeepers.

Ainge is a top signing if over his injury,Darlo signed some descent players and will finish in play offs for me.

If we can bring in a quality Goalkeeper & replace Phil Turnbull then I think that we will be up there.

Pretty simple that if you get crosses into the box for Ainge he'll score goals, he's a complete roughhouse centre forward. Seeing as we were too scared to cross the halfway line most games he didn't really have much of a chance to do anything. He was thrown on for nuisance factor at the end of games basically.

We've signed Matty Hughes from Chorley. Know all about him as he was here on loan from Fleetwood a few years ago.

Gary Roberts and Nathan Brown have also signed new contracts.

Our latest incoming is Curtis Bateson.

Not so enamoured with this signing. Judged surplus for requirements in a poor Gainsbrough side and has been plagued with injuries. Hmm.

Our players are now calling us Alferrifax :lol:

What was the problem with him? As BlueandWhite said, we had him a few seasons back when he looked very quick and dangerous, and seemed destined for better things.

Very popular with a lot of fans at Chorley, never really cemented his place in the team but was very enthusiastic. My personal view is that he would have been a squad player again next season, though I believe the Management wanted him to stay.
Good luck to him.

He’s been here since January, won plenty of doubters over since as well.

He’s asked to play for us half a dozen times in the past and we’ve never taken the chance (He’s from Blacon, a mile from the Deva). Finally did last season out of desperation really. To give him credit he’s behaved impeccably so far and the club keep him busy by getting him to coach school kids when he’s not training.

He’s a bit lucky to still get this chance but I think he knows he’s on to a good thing with his hometown club. Would be daft to throw it away, although I know he has been in the past. So far so good with him anyway.

He only ever had one half decent game. Our fans loved him, shows how desperate we are for someone actually good up front. Have heard rumours of Josh hine returning. Would be great if he did.

Isn't it strange how football opinions differ, would not want Hine anywhere near my team, I know he got a few goals at a lower level but never rated him, quick but open the gate and he will be running down the road.

Rumour mill is Hereford are signing Keiran Thomas from us. Looking at their forum I'd suggest they are getting a tad carried away. Season in the north at Whaddon when he signed from Cinderford he was superb and was our player of the season. Had he gone then, our support would have been gutted.

Last season however in the south he looked decidedly dodgy at times, making some rash fouls (penalty given away after 45 seconds, red card for a mental "tackle" in a senior cup game etc) and his captaincy was removed 3 or so months from the end of the season. The young lad that came in at right back actually surpassed his performances.

He has plenty of talent and if he can reproduce the form he had with us in his first season they have a hell of a player. But last season he was bang average.

Signing number 7. Former Halifax striker Richard Peniket from Gateshead

Denton and Peniket is a cracking front two at this level, Peniket probably spent more time on the wing than he'd have liked for us but he's playing a level below his ability in the North.

Another one of those dodgy transfer rumour accounts have popped up on Twitter.

It says we have already signed Nathan Arnold. We are interested in Reece Thompson and former Ryan Jennings is close to reuniting with John Flanagan at Curzon.
