Great point in the circumstances and wasn't expecting it as it just didn't look likely.

Good point in the end at Walsall, great scenes eat the end there but almost thought we’d throw it away again. Walsall played our diamond quite well I thought and getting the first goal against us massively helps that, I know that sounds a silly thing to say but once you can commit to shutting down our attacking fullbacks we do tend to struggle.

The first goal was a silly piece of defending from Stacey, no need for it and came at a bad time for us as we were just getting going in the game with Pelly hitting the post and Lee having an opportunity. Second likewise poor from us, I was obviously miles away but looked a poor punch from Shea to me and we had switched off when Ferrier fell over.

Thought wed struggle to get back in it as we were not really creating all that much but fair play to Collins taking his one chance. Would like to see the Hylton goal again, he looked inside from my admittedly poor angle and the free kick was eventually taken nowhere near where Hylton was which was the opposite side of the box!! I guess it evened out in the end as I thought he was perhaps fortunate to stay on with an elbow he got booked for and then the ref could have disallowed our goal!

Good spirit to grind out a point from a very bad looking position.

Get the fuck in!!!

Scrappy as equalisers come but exactly what Walsall deserved for their Wycombe-esque time wasting. I nearly ended up involuntarily on the pitch from the surge to the front after it, love those moments.

Great point under the circumstances and massive psychologically. Roll on New Years Day!

We actually won a match and scored our first goal in 570 minutes.

Strange we won this one as Wycombe looked better than a lot of the teams we've lost to lately. Awful error by their keeper which handed us the win though.

Hylton looked offside on iFollow unless other defenders were out of shot in fullback positions.

Great first half, poor second half not helped by atrocious refereeing.

We’ve battered a few recently (third time we’ve scored four in the last five) but that was next level, from minute 1 to 90 Rochdale were in our pocket, could realistically have been 7-0. Fans singing that we’re staying up but at this rate we’ll finish top half.

Clearly onside:

Did happen quick so can see why the lino might have missed it but still annoying to say the least. Would have been 2-2 with 20 odd minutes left and all the momentum with us. Oh well, wouldn't have had the mental last minute celebration...

Wow. I watched it four times exact same view and decided he was off for sure - so shows how tough it was in real time as that does look clearly on

What I found weird was the free kick ended up being taken the complete opposite side of the box to where Hylton was. Made me think that there was another foul I missed as he looked on at the time to me. Kind of annoying as at 2-2 with that much time left I’d have backed us to win that as bar the goal Walsall barely threatened.

As JD says though wouldn’t have had the mental moments at the end which we all do this for!!!

Not very good at home to a decent Donny side - better side won, we just weren't at it.

3 wins on the trot! What is going on?!

Cracking victory, deserved overall. We rode our luck at times and stole a 2nd goal completely against the run of play. After that we controlled the rest of the game.

Oxford look a poor team who are desperate for a striker.

And so the tradition of Oxford winning at ours & we winning at theirs carries on!

Good to see our man get a couple...getting games now?

McCann’s arsekicking obviously worked not often we come away with something from down there, keeps us in the mix roll on the new year

A point away from home is always a positive result even though we weren't at our best. A below par performance especially first half but at least we tried to make a game of it. It was clear what Walsall were trying to do today. Limit our wide play, get in our faces and get as many players behind the ball at every opportunity. For all our possession we struggled to break down the Walsall defence and on too many occasions overdid it with our passing instead of testing the keeper. Walsalls opener was a blunder by Stacey who made a rash challenge in the box when nothing was on. The second goal was largely Pellys not doing his job and standing off his man allowing the cross to come in. NJ wasn't amused!! No idea how Walsall were two up but thats the nature of the game. The Walsall manager must have been very pleased that his game plan was working. The thing about Luton this season though is we can always score goals and so it proved. A goal back from Collins and then the equaliser from Hylton or so we thought. Thankfully the game had another twist. Late drama in the 94 minute a goalmouth scramble and Lualua is heading into the crowd as the Hatters went mad!
Goals like that do so much for a teams self belief and confidence.

Yep, since the change of management he’s started every game. He’s a natural goal scorer that’s for sure.

He’s turning into a cracking player and seems very happy here now too. Came into the away end after the game to hug what I assume was a family member.

Give him a couple of years and he may start pushing towards your team

Be nice but probably be flogged to someone like you guys...(no offence!)

Quite a lot of our kids have made decent careers in the Championship/League One tbf.

I know his Mum used to watch the Watford youth games he played in and scored quite a lot.

Family of Arsenal fans so probably needed a bit of joy!

Pretty much agree with this. I too don't really know how we went in 1-0 down at HT as really we were in cruise control and just hadn't broken down their defence. Stacey was unfortunate with the penalty, as it was just a tangle of legs so he couldn't really avoid it - it was the correct decision nonetheless.

I thought the Hylton non-goal was offside at the time but having seen the picture he is well onside. According to Jones that is now 5-6 goals that have been wrongly chalked off this season so far.

And our equaliser...

The scoreline flattered Pompey, Fleetwood got back into this to lead 2-1 at half time after going one behind.
6 minutes into the second half Marney gets a second yellow and off, a senior pro and he lets the team down. Within a few minutes Fleetwood are trailing 2-3 and looking well out of it
We got back into the game and then hit the woodwork twice in succession, should have scored and then Pompey go down the other end 2-4, final goal rubbed salt in the wounds. In fairness their 1st/3rd and 5th goals were great strikes
Pompey were no great shakes in the first half and the sending off knocked us sideways, Doncaster Rovers looked a better side and the best footballing team seen at Highbury so far this season were Accrington Stanley -fact !!

I’d bite your hand off right now for him. Next season he’d easily get 15+ in L1 I reckon.

Just saw our (interim) managers post match interview and he compared him to Assombalonga (who he coached previously). Never seen him live but he doesn’t look to far off.

How much do you reckon you’d command for him? Does he have a long contract?

Btw before the kick off today there was a minutes silence for a former Fleetwood player who had died -Jimmy Strachan. I remember watching him in the 60's when I was a kid, inside left ( how old is that description now ? ) and him scoring a hat trick in one game against God knows who. He was a very fine player for the club
Anyway the minutes silence was impeccably observed by all and the Portsmouth fans brought great credit on themselves with their support and respect for that solemn moment

Well Britt was in our Yourh system too maybe a year or two before.

Think he signed a 4 year one about 2 years ago but doubt we'd expect that much tbh.

We can afford about 20 quid and a greggs sausage roll.

Happy to get that or a HMV voucher :shifty:

A fantastic, hard fought win against a solid Charlton side. We haven't missed Kieffer at all the last 2 games and played some lovely quick, passing football that Charlton struggled to deal with in the first half. Second half they improved but it would've been a travesty had we not won the game.

Very much looking forward to Luton away NYD, it'll be a great test for us.

Think the game will be a big test for us as well, really intrigued by it and how it will play out. The Barnsley midfield absolutely dominated ours in the reverse fixture early in the season and I think on paper have a very impressive side. Could become a bit of a bit of a tactical battle in the end and I think Barnsley do have the tools to counter some of the things we like to do so, will be interesting to see how it plays out and if we are up to the test. Both teams like to play a bit as well so hopefully a good quality game as well.

No doubt a hugely important game but Im going into all our games pretty relaxed about the whole thing really, this whole season is exceeding my expectation so greatly at the moment Im more enjoying it and our games, than stressing about the games and what other sides are doing, which as im something of a sad act, I normally all to readily get caught up in!

After we had won 2 in a row the Stanley fans were confident we could do the double over Peterborough but we've been brought crashing down to earth again. Ivan Toney had a great game and Peterborough were better than us but of course according to Evans it should have been "7 or 8"
Another tough one coming up away at Bradford. No idea which Stanley will turn up - either a fired up one wanting to make amends for today or another can't be assed performance resulting in a 4-0 defeat...

Despite the result yesterday we've still had a blinding December - 13 points from 5 games, unbeaten (no other team went through the month unscathed) and progression in the FA Cup.

Bloody difficult January coming up now - probably the biggest month in our history.

We have Barnsley on NYD and then two long away trips to Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland within 10 days, with games v Shrewsbury, Peterborough, Southend and Portsmouth to round off the month. Not to mention the transfer window where I can see a real struggle to hold onto a couple of our star players. Oh and also there's a little matter of two planning decisions on our stadium and enabling development.

Not busy at all then...

If we come through relatively unscathed in that month, even with 9-10 points, this season can be one to remember for a long time.
