2024/25 Squads - KEEP/GET RID/BURN THEM AT THE STAKE, etc

So pleased he’s found his feet again, easily L1 standard and I suspect he’d still be with us if it weren’t for his injury record.

…and I forgot you had Lyle Taylor up front, who was a flop for us earlier this season on a short-term deal (not his fault, we were expecting him to be Sam Vokes which he never has been). By reputation though, he sounds like enough of a stroppy dick to want to play out of his skin against us...

    Tues 23 April fixtures

I just feel like we’ve had a decent run and it needs to end somewhere, we’re due a half-arsed stinker and this could be it. For our final day game v Charlton then it’ll be most likely Joe Jacobson’s last ever game in pro football, this is his testimonial season and his 400th game in total, so...

    Tues 23 April fixtures

In the (frankly unlikely) event we win tonight, I’ll be looking at adding a prestigious new cup competition to the league, the Dead Rubber Trophy, which goes to the league team that wins the highest number of pointless games in a given season after they can neither get promoted or relegated...

Who do you want to come up/down to the third tier?

Plymouth are the only even semi-realistic Southern option to come down and that’s pretty unlikely (obviously a good game for ECFC though). I’d take any Northern team over Franchise. I suppose Crawley are relatively inoffensive but a bit meh.

Who do you want to come up/down to the third tier?

I honestly don’t think “spending your way to the title” is as straightforward as that, as your Sunderlands, Ipswiches, Derbys etc could tell you to their bitter disappointment. Yes, those sides did (or are about to) pull themselves out of the mire, and sooner or later they manage to pull off...

Rate your team for this season/expectations for next season

Well we're almost done for this campaign, and only the playoff winner and final relegation spot remain to be confirmed. So I think it's fair enough to start this thread. What happened this season: My personal pre-season expectation was one of transition, and an 8th-10th finish, definitely not...

    Tues 23 April fixtures

Is it over yet? No? Oh FFS, alright then.... A mere two fixtures, presumably late rearrangements because of the Tinpot, since Peterborough and ourselves are involved. Our game amazingly is still of marginal importance to Cambridge, since they can still mathematically go down if they lose...

    Fri 19th/Sat 20th fixtures

ouch, that is harsh. Hope there's a decent police presence for this one, I can see there being some aggro in the stands if Cobblers decide to rub salt in to the wounds of their mid-table supremacy. "Beat you to the beach, beat you to the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeach We are the Cobblers Beat you to...

    Fri 19th/Sat 20th fixtures

We lurch kicking and screaming towards another weekend. key games for: Oxford (to keep a playoff spot) Barnsley (" ") Posh - they've all but secured their playoff spot but will want to keep momentum Bolton and Vale - one for promotion and one for survival Burton Derby (to seal an auto spot)...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

Yeah, I would agree with that. Rotherham strikes me as (at least by the low standards of football club stability) a fairly sensible club where whilst the expectations would still be high (as in being either a bottom-end Champ or top-end L1 club) there is at least some sense of realism - so if...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

Ainsworth is an early favourite at 2/1 although as usual the odds mean little. I hope it doesn’t happen but I could understand it: the type of players would already be the right ones SFC already well familiar with the dark arts Ainsworth is based relatively local to Stevenage Record of...

    Welcome Wrexham and Stockport.

Oh, we relegated the Gas at theirs one time and not only were there plenty of City fans in the away end but Swindon too, I was just like, “fuck, please don’t associate me with these people who’re trying to wind up your Stone Island posse, I’m just watching the game”…

    Welcome Wrexham and Stockport.

 Mansfield kept us in the football league one time, so they’re always welcome in my book.

He still does the same thing he used to do for us where he'll completely flatten a player, then look absolutely amazed when the ref blows up against him. He definitely looks up for it though, still a handful.

In fairness Vale have been a lot better since the first 10 mins (though they couldn't have been much worse). Loft and Uche are getting stuck in up front (and getting wrestled by our CBs in return), and PV have actually had a few decent shots. If they can build on that they could get back in...

it took a full 1 minute for the boos to start at Vale Park, horrendous bit of comedy defending which nearly gave us a goal from the off.
