Parachute payments - When they end

"From the 2016-17 season relegated clubs will receive 55% of the equal share of broadcast revenue paid to Premier League clubs in the first year after relegation, 45% the following year and 20% in year three. Clubs relegated after a single season will receive 55% and 45% over two seasons with...

Stickied Championship - Away Support Thread 2023/24

The last time the club gave a bigger allocation due to high demand (Leeds), it wasn't very successful. Obviously this wasn't a factor in their decision this time though

    Sheep vs Wolves

Well I've never seen an end to a game quite like that. Can't wait to hear Warnock post match

Match Day Ipswich Town vs Millwall

That would make a lot of people very happy. Tony Mowbray is the most likely man if we're going for a former player.

Match Day Ipswich Town vs Millwall

Interesting comments from Mick post-match, suggesting this might be his last game in charge...

    Promotion Thread 2017/18

I think five points is too much to make up at this stage, especially when they have to overtake five teams.

Match Day Ipswich Town vs Millwall

No goals in our last four games, no goals in our last five home games, ten goals in our last 18 games (only six from open play) - don't know what the score will be but I'm confident it will start with Ipswich Town 0.

Middlesbrough vs Wolves (17.30 live on Sky)

Neves fouled Traore just before Doherty did, the ref just didn't stop the game at that point as Traore was still going. They showed on Channel 5 that Friend did clip Costa's heel so it should have been a red card, but there's no excuse for Wolves' meltdown.

    FFP + Parachute Payments

Nice idea, but wouldn't it just encourage clubs to spend more recklessly when they're in the Premier League in order to try and stay up, safe in the knowledge that they don't need to worry about money if they get relegated? At least under the current system clubs know how much they'll lose and...

    Aston Villa vs Wolves

I was serious. The unnatural position thing is probably true, but that's guidance rather than the law itself so it's quite subjective. The fact that he's gained an advantage is irrelevant. I know penalties regularly get awarded in similar situations and I wouldn't complain too much if such a...

He didn't deliberately hit the ball with his hand, it's not a penalty.

Cardiff heading for a third 1-0 win in a row, boring but effective.

I'm in again too, Back In The Saddle. First points on the board today, along with most other people by the look of it.

Norwich v Ipswich East Anglian Derby

People commenting on the distance might find this instructive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_density Colchester is much closer to Ipswich than Norwich is, but Ipswich and Norwich have spent a large part of their history in the same division, hence the greater rivalry.

Stickied What are you reading right now?

Only just seen this thanks to SoC's quote... Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness is excellent. John Green is very popular, I found his books a bit of a mixed bag but thought Looking For Alaska and The Fault In Our Stars were excellent. I also quite liked Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne...

Decent result for NZ, hopefully they can get an away goal in the second leg with Chris Wood back.

    Promotion Thread 2017/18

Of course it wasn't sustainable, no one thought that it was and every team is going to have results that don't match performances, we just happened to have a cluster at the start of the season. We're still 8th so it's not like it's been a disaster since those first few games. He was right.
