Yawn, another loss for us. Can the season just end now so we can accept our boring 13th place finish and I can stop caring for a few months. That's if we even existed next season.

A great performance by us that should have been rewarded with a win. Absolute peach by Adam Hamill on his debut to get the equaliser though.

Sunderland didn't threaten massively but you could see the quality was there. Players like McGeady and Maja shouldn't be at this level.

Accrington are such a dirty team who need to be kicked out the league. Starting 3 fights during the game and one in the tunnel at full time. Dirty northern bastards

I bloody love Luke Berry, what a player, great to have him back

Luton v current top 7 under Nathan Jones - P7 W0 D3 L4 (0.4 points per game)

Luton v current top 7 under Mick Harford - P2 W1 D1 L0 (2 points per game)

Thank goodness we got shot of that waster, now we can properly kick on :bg:

Berry really grew into the game today, can see he is getting back his match sharpness. Said it before but I’m an unashamed Berry fan boy, so any positive comment on him is getting a like from me!

Hmm... criticism of prm and nj becoming more apparent..
Wasn’t long ago someone was raising their head above the parapet
Raising concerns...
Good job we still don’t have stocks in the village or burn witches ..

Not seen a player dominate a side as Stephen Humphrys did today, absolutely tore us a new one.

You don't get to act like you were right all along criticising Pelly when he was clearly our outstanding player of the season until December. Yes, his form has dipped since (and he was poor today) but if you say someone is shit even when they are playing out of their skin of course people are going to give you stick.

And I would also suggest that it's not much of a "concern" given Pelly has played every minute of every match of our unbeaten run.

He could probably do with a rest and refocus based on today, no doubt, but he has been and will continue to be a key, key player for us this season.

Pleased for Luke today. Starting to regain match fitness and his goal, what a lovely turn to beat his man, will have given him a lot of confidence. We were excellent overall today even if first half we were a little below par with our passing game. Thankfully we kept driving forward with Stacey and Justin causing the Posh defence a host of problems. Shinnie ran the midfield today until he was subbed, with the game won. Lua Lua has so much ability and I would love to see him on a permanent deal. Defence were solid as usual, and Collins clinical although he missed his easiest chance. Perhaps the only below par performance was Pelly. A frustrating player at times who when running at the opposition seems to glide past easily yet today his seemed reluctant to run with the ball choosing to pass instead which often or not went astray. A little better in the last third of the game though. I'm quite convinced that Pelly is affected by the crowd. Misplaced passes are greeted with a groan and for me that just makes him more uncertain. When the crowd are behind him he oozes confidence. There is no doubt he has the ability though which he has shown this season.
Big Mick is doing a great job keeping the pattern of play going and with Moncur and Thorne in the squad it gives us even more options. Had no idea that Thorne was such a big player, he's a real unit who will bring a lot of steel to the midfield. Impressed by Moncur the little time he was on. Is comfortable on the ball and looks to create chances.
As for Posh. They were very poor today and looked more interested in keeping the score down. Certainly not the same side that gave us such a hard time earlier in the season. Having said that we have come on leaps and bounds since then. Heating up at the top. For me Barnsley are the real threat and will join the fight for the top two spots. Portsmouth seem to be on a bit of a bad run at the moment and their lead is now down to one point. The January window will be a key one for Sunderland. Their downfall could be of their own making due to the huge expectation placed on them by their fans. Not easy when things don't go so well.

Still doing us favours from afar, love him.

We are trying hard and are not playing too bad. However when ypunonly have one barely fit striker you are not going to win games. It's about the rebuild for league 2 now.

That was a tough game but happily we managed to hold on for the 3 points at Bristol Rovers and move up to 11th. :woo: It sounded absolute crap from both sides with the 2 keepers hardly called into action.
Hold on? There was no need to hold on as we didn’t really threaten you at all. We had one chance all game.

Shocking.

Can’t conplain about the result, but have to complain just how awful we are.

D'you think anyone would notice if we move to Valley Parade? Home games there and just keep signing players who last played for Scunthorpe and we'll be in the premier league in a couple of years.

I actually agree with Lamby (well, to an extent).

I used to quite admire Accrington Stanley and what they have achieved but would quite enjoy seeing them ending up in the bottom four now.

Bunch of shithouses. Lee Bowyer highlighted earlier in the week how cynical they were in the reverse fixture and was same again today, hauling down our players whenever we passed them, poor challenges etc.

Not sure what Lyle Taylor was sent off for, Bowyer has confirmed he’ll be appealing. It just looked like he was kicked and stamped on from where I was. The Stanley players were then hounding him as he was walking off the pitch.

We were awarded a blatant penalty, Accy players then swarmed around and harassed the linesman, was pathetic.

Final whistle they were at it again, trying to kick off and brawl in the tunnel, McConville barging into Bowyer and getting some back.

Then the pathetic interview from their assistant manager. Crying about how they were hard done by the officials and that it was never a penalty. The clown will be embarrassed when he sees the replay and sees it what was stonewall.

Rubbish game but three points is all that matters, just hope Taylor’s red is overturned.

As for Stanley, fuck ‘em. Embarrassing.

3 wins on the trot and a home game against Walsall on Tuesday to hopefully take us out of the bottom 4 for the first time in god knows how long.

Coventry battered us first half today and we had some great saves from Letheren/poor finishing from Coventry to thank that we were 0-0 at ht. Second half it was the curse of the ex player but it worked in our favour this time - the Ruben Lameiras show! He’s in the form of his life and such an entertainer.

Cov play good football and may have been value for a draw - I was particularly impressed with their skipper in the middle who ran the game I think. Good following from them and the ones I spoke to in the Brit pre match were a good friendly bunch.

No reminder that you paid £500k for Connor Chaplin this week?

Another abysmal performance yesterday and it looks like the wheels are coming off. We pose little threat up front and the defence are now conceding stupid goals that wouldn't have happened in the first half of the season.

Ben Thompson isn't returning and he can't be replaced and we look toothless up front without a target man.

Calling it now. We drop into the play-offs and lose the semi-final to Charlton.

This is the kind of post that annoys me.

Why were they "stupid goals?" The first was a good strike from distance and the second was a well worked move and some calm play by Mackie to lay it off to Henry. Is it because you lost to lowly Oxford that you feel the need to call them stupid goals?

I'm afraid you rolled into town thinking all you had to do to take the points was turn up, and you got beaten by the better team on the day. FWIW I didn't think you were much different than when you beat us 4-1 at your place. Very one dimensional, just putting the same ball over the top and trying to turn our defence. It worked at Fratton Park because we had a number of square pegs in round holes and couldn't cope with it. We've improved a lot since then (apart from our mad three game losing run at Christmas) and you didn't really trouble us.

I'll be very surprised if you stay top as I've seen about seven or eight better teams than Portsmouth, based on the two games against us.

Stupid goals because the first one could have been snuffed out if someone actually bothered closing him down and the second was a sequence of errors leading up to it. Our defence earlier in the season wouldn't have conceded those, they're both preventable.

I certainly didn't think that all we had to do was turn up to win, but I'd certainly expect a team at the top of the league to at least be competitive against a team lying in the relegation zone rather than be comfortably beaten by them.

OK, here we go then.

First goal, Brannagan finds space about 25 yards out, the ball is played into him he has one touch and his second is a shot. All happened in a matter of a couple of seconds. You make it sound as if Brannagan didn't have any part in it and your players could have stopped it if they'd wanted to.

Second goal, Jordan Graham turned two of your defenders inside out (as he did several times yesterday) and played an intelligent ball in to Mackie's feet. Mackie calmly laid it off to Henry who put it away from close range. I think the ball Graham put in fooled your defence who were waiting for a cross to Mackie's head. I really don't see that as a "sequence of errors" as you call it.

You personally may not have thought all you had to do was turn up to win, but I think Portsmouth FC collectively thought that, and it was arrogant and you got what you deserved. We're a better team than the league table suggests, but so are a few others, and anyone can beat anyone in this league, as we're beginning to see.

Any team that concedes a goal will be inward thinking and believe they could have found a way to prevent it.. it’s hardly arrogant.

We’re certainly in danger of slipping right out of the top spots. I tend to agree that the football we play has generally been one dimensional and lacking in a Plan B; it’s just been very very effective up until the last month or so. I was always a little worried that we could get found out and it seems like we have been.. so bringing in a striker, and finding a new system that we can adapt to if Oli Hawkins isn’t on the pitch will be the two key factors that decide if we can get our shit back together. That Luton game in a couple of weeks is already looming large.

The reason people pull you up on it is that you are quick to criticise Pelly, as evidenced by your post regarding him yesterday, yet steadfastly refuse to acknowledge when he is playing well, particularly the period at the end of last season and start of this one where he was consistently our best player.

Our 4th 1-1 draw in a row and the 7th game in a row we've failed to score more than 1. Portsmouth picked the perfect time to have a wobble becuase we'll never catch them.

Scored with our one chance which thankfully fell to Maj then conceding a worldie from Hammill but Scunthorpe could have had a couple at that point if not for another great performance from McLaughlin. A couple of signings wouldn't go amiss if we're going to try and pick things back up.

Knock down that dump of yours and build a nice new stadium for us and I'll happily swap.

We are back to been garbage, fair play to Southend though they showed up, and played really well.
