Willian refused to do interviews before the cup final, left alone (and early) and didn't celebrate.

We could do with a right winger of his talents at United next season...

He also did a thing where he covered up Conte with trophy emojis when he posted the celebration photo on Snapchat or something.

Modern day transfer sagas are weird.

So SSN stir things up by reporting that 'their sources' state Willian would be interested in leaving Chelsea for Man United this summer, if Conte remains as Chelsea manager (which he surely isn't?)

So where does that leave him if/when Conte goes? Once you start saying you're interested in leaving for a rival, regardless of a caveat, your future is probably lying elsewhere.

Oooh drama. I did spot as he was coming up Mou spoke to him and gave him a pat on the back. Clear admiration, I bet Sky Sports News have run that clip 27,000 times already.

If he signs for Man Utd I will look forward to seeing how he does in Ligue 1 a year later.

Chelsea apparently want Lewandowski from Bayern, their 'top summer target', I guess seeing as Morata hasn't exactly pulled up trees. Worth selling Hazard/Willian to fund what presumably would cost a significant fee?

Mundo report that we're in advanced talks with Rodriguez Monchu, a midfielder from Barcelona B. Seems a random one, interesting though, and miles outside of our recruitment comfort zone.

Has Morata been that bad? Had an okay season for his forst year I thought. Not everyone comes in and blasts in a Salah amount of goals. Drogba got 10 league goals in his first season and looked really poor from what I remember, I think part of Morata's issue has been social media and people wanting to make every miss or poor performance a 'moment'.

Imagine being an Everton fan and genuinely believing you're going to sign Zaha

It can only be the LSD in the Everton mints ,how else could you explain tipping up at Goodison every other week expecting to see a game breakout ? At least they can now spend the small fortune they put aside for the cloth to make Allardyce a cap ,small mercies but with his departure Jacamo can finally have that closing down sale.

Everyone likes the look of him because he's a leader and a class centre back. He doesn't want to leave and we won't want to sell our captain unless it's stupid money. Chelsea have been sniffing around for a while with journalists quoting £30/35mil, which is an insulting number. Double that fee and we may start negotiations.

Yes well he's performed in the best protected centre back partnership in the league, I'd steer clear. The only thing keeping me from feeling nauseous about this is that Klopp's signings since coming in practically never flop*. But it reeks of the old "but his underlying numbers are EXCELLENT" kind of signing.

* Karius arguably being the exception, but for the time being his past six months justify the £4,7m outlay you have to say.

Ok. I thought he'd be a good fit for us if we didn't have to fork out a big wedge for him and we could concentrate on adding quality depth in the midfield and forward lines, which would cost money. However for £30-60 mill, we'd be better off going for someone boss in Europe.

Which partnership? He's played with 3 different partners this season, and whenever he hasn't played we've fallen apart at the back, despite the supposed excellent protection. Correlation may not imply causation but it's certainly an interesting coincidence. Was also a clear standout player in our relegation season after coming in to the side as a 22 year old with little experience at PL level. It may reek of that if you don't watch him regularly. If you do it's obvious how good he is. Then only thing missing from his game is an ability on the ball rarely found in central defenders.

Wouldn't worry yourself anyway Beelo mate, short of a ridiculous offer, I'd be very surprised if we sell him this summer. If Rafa walks at the end of next season then he'll be more willing to leave I suspect.

Who's being replaced like? Lovren or Matip? Assuming Klavan will hang around as 4th choice, one of them is surely being moved on if you're after a new CB.

Yeah, dunno why you lot and Chelsea seem to think we'll sell cheap. We're the same club who mugged yourselves and Spurs off for Carroll and Sissoko before transfer fees went mad. Our 24 year old player of the season captain with 5 years on his contract would cost you a fortune.

I personally thought it would be Klavan getting moved on, but the word on the vine is he is getting offered a new deal; so perhaps it would be Matip, as Klopp likes Lovren, and Gomez is probably going to be moved centrally too.

The idea of Newcastle only being willing to talk to clubs who offer upwards of £70m for Lascelles is an amusing one. This is Ashley we're talking about.

As I said in another thread, that's the same Ashley who mugged you for £35mil for Andy Carroll 7 years ago, and Spurs for Sissoko before transfer fees went mad. We demanded the Carroll fee in one lump sum, and Liverpool caved. Ashley may be a stain on the club but he doesn't budge when it comes to transfers, often to our detriment as far as incoming players goes. Our 24 year old English captain, who's happy at the club and has a 5 year contract, would cost any club a fortune. The idea that we would or should sell a player who is only going to improve, is vital to our team in more ways than just on pitch performance, who we want to keep and who wants to stay, for less than ridiculous money is laughable.

How much do you think we should sell for?

Andy Carroll is a stupid comparison. It was a panic buy on our part after selling Torres at the end of the window, and you took advantage of that because selling him would have left you short as you had no time to replace him. It wasn't your standard transfer and isn't indicative of your selling policy under Ashley.

As for what I think you should sell him for, who gives a shit? 58p? It's about what Ashley will sell him for, and if he will resist the temptation to trouser millions from the club again for effectively nothing if a decent offer comes in. I'd bet a fair few quid it will take considerably less than your claimed £70m.

Yep, extremely stupid to compare us selling a player we wanted to keep and who wanted to stay to a player we want to keep and who wants to stay.

You seem to give a shit, or at least have an opinion on it. So you must have a figure in mind given £70mil gives you the giggles. If Ashley sells him it'll be on his terms and way above "market value" as it usually is when he finds himself in this position.

The idea that a player like Coutinho, who publicly declared his desperation to leave Liverpool, should command a £140mil fee is ridiculous. But it happened. It's almost as if the selling club have the power and can effectively name their price, especially when the interested clubs throw money around like its nothing.

OK GB. You believe that Ashley will wait until someone offers £70m (the type of value applied to the likes of Van Dijk and Alderweireld) before picking up the phone and I don't.

We might find out who is right this summer.

Well your two prime (only?) examples of Ashley mugging clubs off were both on deadline day, and it’s two in eight and a half years. It’s not really a rule is it G.B

No, the rule is us selling a somewhat sought after player generally means excellent money relative to the market and a healthy profit on the initial investment. Our transfer policy has been based on that for years. Selling players at a good price hasn't been our problem, buying enough players with the ability to compete and/or be sold at a profit has. Of course there are limited examples as most of our signings, along with managers, have been poor or average, hence 2 relegations in 7 years. But a few examples would be Gini who was purchased for £14mil, played shit unless we we're on TV playing at home, and was part of an awful side that was relegated. Sold for £25mil a year later. Debuchy and Cabaye are good examples going back a bit further. Both of them wanted out, one of them refused to play but it didn't hinder our ability to get a good fee for him. Making money is one thing Ashley is good at. Obviously the Carroll deal and selling Sissoko at a £29mil profit despite being fucking awful at football are the best examples. Point being we get good money for in demand players. And even more so now that transfer fees are through the roof. The figures recently quoted in the press for Lascelles are not good money given the current market, his ability, importance and age. And while £70mil may be too much, if we were to sell him it'd be for a lot more than the £30/35mil quoted by news outlets. Same with pretty much any other PL team negotiating to sell their best player or buy a quality player, their huge income coupled with the current state of the market allows those teams to essentially take the piss and quote what would historically be an insane number, just as Liverpool, Southampton, Spurs, Juve, Wolfsburg, Bilbao, Leipzig, Lyon, Dortmund etc have.

OK GB. You believe that Ashley will wait until someone offers £70m (the type of value applied to the likes of Van Dijk and Alderweireld) before picking up the phone and I don't.

Except at no point during this discussion have I actually said it'll take £70mil. "Your claimed £70mil" were the words used in your first reply despite me not mentioning that figure. I said it'll cost a fortune and that the idea we should sell for anything short of a ridiculous fee is laughable. Which it is.
