best 5 grounds for me
1 Emirates stadium
2 Old Trafford
3 Brammel Lane
4 The new Den
5 Abour Park (Slough Town)

worst 5 (5 being the worst)
1 Recreation ground (Aldershot)
2 Highbury Stadium (Fleetwood)
3 Penndarryn Park
4 The Vetch
5 St James's Park
What is so terrible about Aldershot’s ground? I’ve been to the New Den, the Emirates and Old Trafford and I wouldn’t say they’re any better than the Recreation ground.

Quite a decent shout, but how come you didn't tell us where Penndarryn park was? Especially having named Slough Towns?

Which SJP btw?

oh sorry Penndarryn park is Merthyr Town and SJP should be obvious as St Jame's park is Newcastle while St James' is the s**thole at Exeter

the Rec is a complete dive horrible place with horrible people much like Merthyr

Merthyr is alright. The people are sound, you come across as a right snob tbh.

Perhaps the real SJP will be less of a 'shithole' when it is back to being a 4 sided ground again. Sometime during next season I guess.

I have been to SJP on a number of occasions, and while it isn't great, at least it had a terrace.

the small open end used to house away fans, there are better away in in the Southern League Premier than the away end at SJP

From watching with Wrexham and being in the away end:

Top 5:
1. Aggborough (seems a fairly popular choice for fairly obvious reasons)
2. Griffin Park (pubs galore, good standing and seating section)
3. Hillsborough (Biggest ground I've seen us play a league game in)
4. Falmer Stadium (example of a new ground done well, Brighton created a hell of an atmosphere too and we nearly shocked them in the replay)
5. Prenton Park (great facilities, common-sensical police and stuff to do in the area)

Worst 5:
1. Recreation Ground (the facilities are atrocious and all but 1 times I've been there they've stuck us in the freezing corner. Don't get a tea there, the milk is always off)
2. Newport Stadium (when they played there and we were penned into one section of the same stand as them, having coins and bottles thrown at us)
3. Holker Street (edge of the world)
4. Deva Stadium (the games between us two are always farcical)
5. New Meadow (might be a little biased because of the 3-0 loss)

Haven't been to many outside of London. It depends what you search in a ground I guess. Is it important to have boozers next to it? Not to me but maybe it's a cultural thing. I've enjoyed Stockport's Edgeley Park due to the whole matchday experience. Some beautiful pubs in the area (I don't remember how close to the ground they were though). I don't think I've experienced any particular bad grounds apart from Macclesfield. Nothing springs to mind really.

My favourite for the ground itself is (or rather was) Upton Park but for the pints I enjoyed with my Orient companions, it has to be Brisbane Road. A special mention to Bramall Lane for being a proper old school football ground.

In the peculiarly specialised category of grounds where I've been on non-football related business (i.e. drinking) but never seen a match...

Best. Victoria Park, Dingwall (Ross County). Nice beer, nice whisky, nice pool table, nice game of cards, great company. And the chance of a Tain Minger for breakfast

Worst. Bramall Lane. Pleasant staff and Henderson's sauce on the pie was good. Beer was crap and expensive, though. Looked like watching football there might be OK, but watching the sprinklers was dullish.

Isn't a ginnel a little alleyway?
Aggborough and Griffin Park for me. Both have a good mix of covered seating and terracing in decent locations, also the food does really stand out at Aggborough.
Known as a jigger around here.

Only 3 pubs left I think. Better make the most of it as well.

I remember going there about 12 years ago when Chester and Brentford were both in L2. The coach dropped us and all I remembered that it was parked near a pub. When I came out I really struggled to find it because there are/were pubs on each corner.

Top Five
-----------
Griffin Park: a pub on every corner. Whats there not to like
Old Trafford: Best stadium in the country
Aggborough; Best food
The Shay; Used to be total slum but the rebuild is nice and there are some great pubs in Halifax
Bolton (or Horwich); We hate them so much there always a great atmosphere.

Bottom Five
--------------
The New Lawn; Crappy little town, crappy little ground, crappy little club owned by a big mouth hippy gobshite and managed by a moaning crybaby who is the master of the dark arts.
Oakwell: We always lose there. Haven`t won at the place in 30 plus attempts
The Deva; Lego ground with major parking problems and no pubs for miles
Goodison; Just how a club of Everton`s status are still playing at that dump is beyond me. Hopefully the Victorian relic will be rightly consigned to history soon
Kenilworth Road: By the far the worst ground I have visited in the last 10 years. Entering through the front of somebodys house, going up the steps and viewing a row of outside toilets and garden sheds then getting in to find seats bolted on to terraces that are so close together that unless you are a child or a midget it`s near impossible to sit facing forwards. The toilet facilities are truly shocking for this day and age and completely unacceptable. I can`t believe that Health and Safety havent closed that away stand down. And as for the area around the ground. The least said about that the better. It was like visiting a very poor third world country. Sorry Luton fans but your ground is an absolute dump of the highest order.

Special mentions to Anfield (the stadium itself is great. It`s some of the creatures that inhabit it I find so disagreeable) and Tottenham (probably the most miserable place I have ever been to. Do Spurs fans have any facial expressions other than scowl?) and Wrexham and Barrow ( towns where the locals still think its the 1970s and that they are all hard men which they most certainly aren`t).

I do wanted Old Trafford to rebuild 13.000 new seats so it will be a new capacity of 88.000 ... :err:

The Shay is up there with the worst. In the away end they offer you one burger van among 1000 supporters and a wall to piss on. That is it.

Don't have so many supporters then. This is a tinpot league after all :bye:
I've heard about this famous away end wall. Maybe you can ask Reynolds to throw us over some dosh so we can put in finer facilities for your next visit.
If It makes you feel any better the bogs in the home end are always pissed wet through
It's a decent sized stadium though
Town centre is just one big pub aswell which I'm sure if I've seen listed above as a positive

I'll give you credit, Halifax is a cracking town for an away day. Plenty of decent pubs within walking distance.

There you go. Knew we could reach an agreement
Maybe Reynolds and Stelling can both chip in so we can get some new bogs and some more "soiled bed sheets" so we can play at home during winter :bg:
