I have a soft spot for Macclesfield, i worked up there a long time ago and witnessed Macc winning the Northern Premier league with Steve Burr up front. Its a shame he never played at a higher level, he was devastating back then.
We have a lot of history with Northampton, the old County ground with the cricket pitch had an atmosphere of its own. I have a sneaky like for Tranmere, Newport and Colchester for no particular reason.
Dislikes include Morecambe. A positive is that they are a football league club, no one outside Morecambe knows how that is achieved. Watching their highlights on tv fills me with depression. Their football is dire, they time waste, foul, and play the victim.
Forest Green are should have been playing someone like Bishops Cleeve or Mangotsfield today, but somehow are in the football league. If youve been there you will know thay play in a dog kennel.
To top it off, the owner bans burgers, and is a hippy with flowers in his hair. He even says its for our own good. Surely Forest Green being where they are is a disadvantage to the football community.
Sympathy for Notts County, not only have they shot themselves in the foot, but in both feet, and the head. Unfortunately no doctor can fix it. Can you imagine what a room is like that nobody has been in for thirty years. This is my image of Port Vale. Not only are there cobwebs, but you might fall through the floor. There might be a ghost in there. Shame.

Most teams (besides Mansfield who were silent) have good away followings and make a decent noise, a nice change from the 10 fans which were coming from away teams in our 3 non league years.

Dislikes, pretty much every home support is silent.

I also have a soft spot for Macclesfield. It`s called quick sand and the quicker they sink into it the better I will feel. You might forgotten and forgiven the antics of their players at the end of last season and that of some of their fans (one in particular) but I . and quite a few others . haven`t.

One thing I do dislike is that the much hoped for improved standard of refereeing as just not happened. If anything some of the clowns we have seen this season (Yes Trevor Kettle, Andy Haines and Carl Boyeston I`m talking about you) are worse than the VNL refs we have suffered in the previous 3 seasons

Oh I forget to mention Lincoln. The cheating, anything goes, Alehouse tactics of the Cowleys, that fat tart Matt Rhead and their "didn`t know there was a football club here until 2 and half years ago" arrogant, loud mouth, band wagon jumping fans with their stupid bloody siren. What a loathsome little club they are.

Maybe we should turn this into a "why I hate Macclesfield" thread. I could come up with some good reasons myself. :bg1:

Fwiw, I don't really have any strong feelings towards anyone in this league. It's just nice being here. Maybe just Forest Green whose ground I don't like, and MK Dons with their dodgy origins (they do have a good stadium though).

I still resent the way Macc players and fans gloated on social media, and the abuse they sent our way - I've not really seen anything like it before, a really classless way to win a league.

Elsewhere, I'll always be icy towards the Dongs for obvious reasons.

Other than that, I'd have a pint with a fan of any of the other clubs in the league. Not sure you'd get much football chat out of the Lincoln fans of course, they're just getting to grips with the basics after starting to watch football a couple of years ago, but I'm sure they're nice chaps and chapettes.

Apart from the obvious dislike (Vale) the other one is any game we play against Yeovil because it's always an absolute shitfest and it's 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back. They always seem to get very jammy against us too with goals we concede against them almost exclusively coming from set pieces.

I do love the majority of awaydays in this league though. Except Yeovil, Stevenage, Crawley, Colchester, Forest Green and Oldham. Most of the shite lower league awaydays seem to be in League One these days as opposed to this fine division we find ourselves in.

Just on the subject if milton keynes wanna name mitch hancox on the bench and make sure he comes and warms up in front of the town paddock we will be ever so grateful... i for one would like to educate him and give him my opinion on why me, my fellow supporters and all associated with the club are not t**ts as he called us on social media .

Being a nice club im sure there are a few other tranmere supporters who will have a few kind words for him also and make sure he is aware of and thank him for his kind drunken words whilst trying to impress macc supporters in the pub last season.

Im sure though with all the first team action hes had this season he may well be a tad tired and may choose not to make the journey .

Him and macc are my only dislikes and its actually been a pleasure to be back... proper grounds to visit, proper away support and oldham to entertain us rather then wrexham and chester

Dislike - opposition supporters of free-flowing Brazilian type football teams that cry like little school girls when we beat them.
Like - reading the above when we beat them

Pablo, some of us were around when you were the second best side in the National league :fing:

Macclesfield's reaction to their promotion was baffling. Historically, there hasn't been any animosity between the teams and Elliott Durrell was applauded off by most of the home support after ripping us apart in the 1-4, which put them in pole position to go up.

Milton Keynes is difficult. While Winkelman is still at the helm, there will always be a reminder of how they effectively stole another club's place in the FL. However, there's been a lot of water under the bridge since and I find it hard to dislike them as strongly as when they came into being.

Mansfield fans collectively posting on here seem a bit feisty.

I don't hate MK Dons. All they did was ask the FA if they could do what they wanted to do and the FA told them yes. What MK proposed was not the right way to go about it but the FA should take the blame and not MK and their fans. And anyway, I've got little sympathy for the club they replaced - AFCW shouldn't have done what they did (the whole Kingstonian/Chelsea thing) more so after what had happened to them.

Neither do I hate Morecambe, FGR, Crawley and the like. I much rather the league as it is now than the closed shop it was before. Don't get me wrong - if, for ex, it's down to either one of Leyton Orient and Solihull to come up then I'd side with the O's just like everybody else I guess, but if it's Solihull then I'd tell myself that they fully deserved it and leave it at that. Size of the respective fan bases don't come into the equation afaic.

FGR's (or to be more precise, Dale Vince's) principles and ethos are to be commended. Contrary to what the op believes, what they are doing is in fact for our own good, and for our children's future. One may moan because they do not serve meat at their ground (wot you mean no meat guv? oh the horror of going two hours without munching away on some shitty burger!) but the plain truth of the matter is that the whole meat industry is destroying our planet. I'm pretty sure meat consumption will continue to go down as more people are made aware of this fact

It was odd that your fans would replicate the silence in away fans, but given that thoroughly embarresing performance I can at least understand why

Shoddy, you're way out of order on hating Cambridge fans. I thought we were friends; what happened to sharing the same initials and having the great Jabo play for both our sides? I'm so livid right now I'm thinking of getting my old crew together for next weekend's game, to have a quiet word face to face if you know what I mean.

But you're right on this div 2 nonsense. It should always be called the Endsleigh 4th division.

Pretty sure the burger I had at Cambridge recently had less actual meat in it than you'd get in a FGR bean burger.

Maybe it had been eaten by a cat and shat out again before being compressed into a patty, a bit like those insanely expensive coffee beans. It would explain the texture and the price I suppose.

" no one outside Morecambe knows how that is achieved"

Sadly I was at Wembley the day it happened. Morecambe are alright, they have certainly never claimed they were anything they weren't.
Dislikes for me is paying up to £25 to watch fourth tier football and the lack of terracing at modern grounds.
Likes are the ease of getting a ticket for most games and not really knowi g what is goi g to happen when you turn up on a Saturday.

I’ve actually warmed to FGR now and don’t mind them at all. Their fans on here all seem a decent bunch and I even like ChrisFGR now which I would never have thought a couple of years ago.

Forgot to say I like Mansfield for liberating us from the reign of the dull one back in 2017. Can't wait to go back there and show my appreciation for that great day on Saturday.

We serve away fans what they are used to at home. Carlisle fans get Cumberland sausages in their hot dogs, Newport get lamb burgers. You get shit burgers. Hope you enjoyed it.:dis:

I’ve liked your post for the tinpotters point and the FGR point as I agree totally. I’m a traditionalist but even I’m turning more and more veggie as I get older. And I believe in competition, I’d even be an advocate for 3 up 3 down this season if it stayed in the future, despite our perilous position, even if it would result in Solihull taking our place. It’d be painful but competition comes first.

However what MK Dons did was wrong.... it’s akin to diving and then saying “well it’s the refs decision to get it right, don’t blame me”. They shouldn’t have uprooted and “stolen” a league spot. ML already had a club, Winkleman should have chucked his money in there rather than parachuting his way into the FL. It was cheating. And that’s not even going on to mention what it did to Wimbledon.

Dislikes, fans who chant in pubs on a awaydays at Meadow Lane, players who earn more in a week than their respective clubs home attendance, chairman craving adulation and exposing their genitals online, terracing is few and fare between now, turning up at a ground and having to queue at a ticket office on the other side of a ground and then at a turnstile at 2:55 because "intelligence said you were only bringing 200!" stewards who believe their high viz gives them superpowers and an entitlement to treat customers like filth and spout non existent safety legislation.

Likes well it's a bit of a struggle this season due to obvious reasons. Most have been fairly sympathetic to our plight which whilst Alan Hardy may have brought on himself the fans most certainly have not and we will be the ones who suffer. I've watched Notts for 25 years and have seen 2 successful seasons. Truth be told I'd like it if we existed next season regardless of relegation and I'd be in a state of pandemonium if somehow we escape the relegation which as a club they deserve after a season of utter calamity.

I’m turning my back on the lot of it this week as I move away to sunnier climes. Not sure if I’ll miss it much which is a sad indictment from a once every game, home and away, fan.

I suppose I’ll keep an eye on how things are going and may even be tempted to come back, plastic style, for any kind of ‘big’ game.

I take my hat off to those who can still turn up and follow their team even though each successive season heaps more misery on you.

Saying all that, would I prefer it if I followed one of the so called big clubs? No fucking way. When you follow one of the many also ran clubs, the small clubs who nobody cares about but yourself, when those glory days do come around it is so much sweeter than all the hyped up, vomit-inducing entitled wins the big boys chalk up every week.

Viva the bottom feeders! Even those yellow fuckers up the A420.
