About time we had a separate play-off thread I reckon.

Rotherham are the only team at the moment who are pretty much guaranteed to be in the play-offs. The Shrews are still battling away gamely for an auto place, but sadly it's looking like it might just be a bridge too far to best the two big budget clubs. So that may be two of the slots almost sorted.

There's a bunfight going on between five teams for the remaining two places:
. Scunthorpe - been up in the top six pretty much all season. Hit a poor run that cost Alexander his job. Difficult to beat but finding it hard to win.
. Plymouth - looking odds-on for relegation back in November, now on a dream run of form. Have a game in hand but only one home game left.
. Portsmouth - hit the play-off zone back in December, then hit our customary poor New Year form. Bounced back well and squad now almost fully fit.
. Charlton - turbulent behind the scenes as ever. New manager bounce under Bowyer but not won in last three.
. Peterborough - another recent manager change. Form and results have been very erratic.

So lots of twist and turns left for the right to have your hopes raised and then crushed mercilessly. Bring it on.

It'll be great if Pompey get in the play offs and even greater if we can have a day out at Wembley

Still not very hopeful about making them even if we are in them right now. Simply think we’re not good enough. We don’t have the hardest run in but it doesn’t matter as we can’t really beat many teams.

Think it will be Pompey and Plymouth who make them. Charltons run in is so difficult and Peterborough don’t seem that good. They arguably have the most firepower in the league so it’s odd they’re not doing great.

I'm still not sure what to make of our run-in. The home games against Charlton and Peterborough are crucial while our two aways are Bradford who are woefully out of form and can't score and Bury who are just terrible. We have to be looking at taking six points from those.

I think Pompey will beat Charlton and Peterborough at home to take 5th place, and the winner of Scunthorpe vs Argyle on the Tuesday in May will take 6th.

Well you know the team that comes 3rd probably won't win the play- offs .

Seems to work like that !

Shrewsbury will win the play-offs; far better than the others in the mix.

Personally think the winner of 4th and 5th will be promoted this year, fancy it to be between Rotherham and Portsmouth.

Shrewsbury have a good team ethic and seem disciplined, but nothing special against us. As with Fleetwood last season I can see them running out of steam.

Haven’t people been saying Shrews are going to run out of steam pretty much since day 1 of the season. Being nothing special but picking up results has seemed to be the way they go about things all season

Yeah, people are harsh on Shrewsbury. You can’t be challenging the two teams who were relegated from the Championship for the automatics all the way to the end of the season just because you’re plucky and work hard. You have to be a good team.

By all accounts they played us off the park last month. Not exactly hard back then but my dad said to me that even had we played well we would still likely have lost as Shrewsbury were a very good side.

I reckon too that Pompey and Plymouth will make it. We've been batting above our average all season and at this crucial point, I think we will miss out. I'll take us to finish 7th, Pompey 6th and Rotherham may well be under pressure to hold off Plymouth for 4th.

I suspect that there will be more twists and turns to come with every match for the five challengers. There is a lot of football left to play and referee. Looking forward to it.

I can only go on what I've seen, to me Plymouth and Shrewsbury look well drilled but ordinary. Peterborough, Rotherham, Charlton and Portsmouth have looked far better sides going forward in the games I've watched.

Imo you need that firepower going into the playoffs, it's something we lacked but Millwall had which made the difference in the end.

Going to be tough for us after tonight's defeat. Need to win our last 3 games to stand a chance.

Think that’s us gone, given the games in hand available to our rivals.

Never know. Three wins, taking points off Charlton and Peterborough, and there’s still a small possibility.

Been a season exceeding expectations whatever happens now.

Feel that if we can pick up 3 points at Northampton on Saturday, with Pompey vs Charlton going on (preferably Pompey win or draw), we could have one foot in the semis.

Northampton have to win, so that could play into our hands.

71 points looks the marker this year. 7 points from 5 games for us.

Shrewsbury running out of steam? At this moment would like to play them in the semis if we get there.

Going to be a dog fight to the end, great to be involved but agonising in equal measure.

Wish the season would end now as Rotherham would be my choice in the play-offs, seem to have had their card marked in the two league games against them.

Great results for us last night, makes Saturday’s game a must not lose rather than a must win with other play-off rivals still to face each other. Fortunately for Pompey, a huge game in front of a full house only ever means one thing, Charlton players go into hiding. Just have to hope this current lot buck the trend.

I am pretty convinced that if Taylor is back we will get one of the places. However, if he is not can we change our style? We did not Saturday, and if don’t I think we will miss out.

Down to a 4 horse race for 2 spots by the looks of it.

Makasi out for season and goes back to West Ham. Injuries starting to hit our small squad. Could take its toll.

Only team i fear who would take us in the playoff mix is Charlton who always seem to play like Barcelona every time they play us for some reason but anybody else i fancy our chances tbh, i hope it's Scunny in semis and then Shrews in final as we'll outnumber them at Wembley unlike Plymouth, Portsmouth and Charlton and im sure the defeat to Lincoln the other week at Wembley will have given them some kind of mentality damage if they get there again.

Huge game at Fratton Park today.

On the 8.45 out of Waterloo, hit the booze early to settle any nerves. Just hope the team turn up for a big game for once.

Enjoy the day! If you could arrange for a draw that’d be great.

Also if you’re going via the good companion (great pub) the landlord is an argyle fan so give him a green army!

We simply have to win today. Unfortunately I see no favours coming from Walsall or Northampton.
