I have heard the cards were given as follows:
Vermiglio- inciting the second brawl by gobbing off
Eustace- entering our technical area
Williams- punching challoner
Challoner- apparently put his arms up to protect himself, ref thought he was fighting back
I'm not going to argue about any of the reds, but not sure how the number 11 wasn't sent off.
I was listening on the radio last night and the commentator (who can admittedly be biased) thought that both Brown and Challoner were lucky to stay on the pitch with the first incident. His view of the second incident was that Brown was then getting a lot of grief from your technical area (which would tie up with the Vermiglio red), and when Eustace went over and people closed in on the dugout, Eustace was punched by Challoner. He was adamant about this and was certain that Challoner would be getting a red card long before it came out. Whatever happened, it's poor from both clubs.

What I do think is that once the referee has decided not to send Brown off initially, whatever the opposing dugout thinks of that decision, neither dugout should take the action that they did. And whilst the referee may not have got the first incident correct, watching the video I think he handled the main brawl well. Stood back, took note of what was going on, then took his time to speak to his assistants and the stewards to find out who were the most guilty to take action accordingly. And overall, he probably came to the right conclusions.

I didnt notice he'd been doing so awful there. Halifax would have done better this season to have loaned him to us, but paid his wages in the short-term. The lad has a lot of talent but something isn't right with him (as shown by a mass of clubs in a short career), Flanagan at Burzon has been the only manager to get the quality out of him, but we cannot afford him, when he initially went to Halifax after our spell he did excellent then got worse and worse which suggests Halifax frankly couldn't use him as good as we could.

maybe had he arrived back we'd got him back to some form of talent then he'd gone back to fax able to actually do something for them.....oh well a wasted talent.

Very fair comment and fair play considering we're getting all kinds of abuse from kiddy fans. The second brawl was very hard to tell what was going on as it was crowded.

I thought we played pretty well against the league leaders and were very unfortunate to come away with nothing, should never have got beat It's as simple as that. For me I thought Salford were of only average quality; not very good at all. Well apart from our lack of concentration that gifted them their goals they were nothing special.

Styche's worst game in a Darlo shirt by far tonight, his penalty miss was a disgrace I just don't know what he was thinking. He seem to be showboating throughout the match, started getting into a confrontation with Salford's management duo, while his teammates were passing the ball around him.
Come on Reece get a grip!! On the plus side Greg Mills had his best game since he arrived at the club.

Apart from the defensive errors over the last 3 or 4 games we've played reasonably well, tonight's match was the first time we've came out in the second half and not collapsed like a pack of cards.

Tommy Wright's 10th game in charge for us against Salford. Now reads Lost 8 - Won 1 - Drawn 1- As of Saturday our season begins no more excuses!

Who would have thought after you strolled to an easy 4-1 win against us in August that by the time we next meet you would have been in the relegation zone. Absolutely crucial game on Saturday. Get the feeling both sides desperate for the 3 points/

It's been a disaster since that August win against you guys back in the summer, I think both clubs had ambitious plans back in those days with your summer recruitment of players that your manager brought in. And our playoff ambitions from the previous season's great run.

How the tide has turned i would never have thought we'd have been in this position after that 4-1 summer stroll back in August, never mind.
Now the season starts, no more excuses for us and probably you guys as well come this Saturday. I would imagine 3 points is an absolute must for Alfreton? I know it is for us? I think if we get beat our days are numbered in this division, also a crucial game for our manager. The natives are getting restless getting beat every week.

I'll be travelling down, I like Alfreton we had a good banter with the stewards and got a great welcome last season.

Have to agree that's a surprise about Adam Morgan leaving Halifax, so much talent definitely wasted i thought he was pretty lethal in front of goal. Well especially against us, he scored twice on his debut for Halifax on Boxing Day against us, and he scored twice against us on New Years day for Halifax as well. Not sure what went wrong with him at the Shay? But he was a decent player from what i saw of him in those matches.

Yep. Huge game this for us too.
Almost whoever loses their manager goes?! Although unfortunately I can see our chairman using the wins against Ferriby and a very poor Step 6 side in county cup as a cop out to make the change that we need. Have to say the appointment of Tommy Wright looked a strange one at the time. We have already faced TW and Styche away at Nuneaton..styche was a constant threat and scored twice in a 2-2 draw. Hoping we learn from that and our manager doesnt get done with tactics. Not sure though..

As I predicted in the summer recess, he has moved on to a Premier league club in the January transfer window. Lottery numbers may be purchased from me, online. :cool1:

So Curzon vs Chorley on Sat, the start of 3 tough games for us which might see us drop very close to drop zone.

I am personally thinking about 45-46 points for safety, little bit lower than normal because while I think this is one of the toughest relegation battles I have seen the fact anyone can beat anyone makes it hard for all to get to 45 points. It’s only 16 points to go but we are going to have to scrap for every one as we find wins tough to grab.

Should be tough tight game vs Chorley, but their poor recent form gives me hope. They will be swapping and changing while we are settled. Tight game, will be 1-2 goals in it at most as both struggle to score. Thinking a 1-1 myself

Curzon have signed Sam Walker from us on a three month loan.

Has been a bit of a disappointment for us given his signing from Salford was seen as a real coup at the time. He can put in a cracking cross and take a decent dead ball, but seemed to spend most games ambling around ineffectively. He also looks very unfit. Although there is an argument that he hasn't been given a decent chance. Has been substituted as a substitute and hauled off before half-time on a few occasions.

Also pretty surprised there's any sort of working relationship between Gannon and Flanagan after the latters bizarre programme notes in the game against us in December.

Haha I think them notes were mind games, but I think Hannah/Flanagan have probably a mutual working relationship based on players going one way or other the last year or so.

It’s a good move for Stockport to send some to us who have a manager with a record of getting more out of some players in a hope of getting him fit and back in form.......as said think fac should have done same with Morgan.

Even if both managers didn’t like each other Gabon wants walker fit, playing and back playing well with confidence and Flanagan desperately needs that type of player with no money to do it......suits both

We are playing BPA at home, who in the away fixture looked like the worst team in the entire history of association football, as we ran out 0-5 winners without ever getting out of second gear. Clearly they've got better since then, but if anything we are worse. So who knows? I'm pretty sure we won't keep a clean sheet, though.

More Impressive signings from Southport today.

They have signed former Alfreton and former Darlington man Jordan Richards and winger Dion Charles from Fleetwood Town.

We've also released a lot of dead wood and have got a few on the transfer list too. By the time they have been taken into account we'v got a relatively normal sized squad.

We've also had some directors (one in particular) put a lot of money into the club, and are trying to make it a more slick operation with plans for ground development, our own training complex, and more professional behind the scenes.

These signings come following the announcement of a new CEO (as you well know), and us using Skelmersdale Utd's ground (or what was their ground before there was a fall-out with the landlord) as a training facility until the end of the season. The position of Chairman has also been retired too, which has given fans a boost as the incumbent wasn't proving to be too popular! It looks like we mean business, which will be great in the NPL next season!

Our third signing of the day: Elliot Osborne from Fleetwood. He's been playing on loan at Morecambe this season.

I think I'm going to have a lie down. This is all a bit too much.

We won't change, he never does. Never gives anyone else a chance other than his 'strongest' 11

A couple of things have held him back, first and foremost in my opinion is that he has simply been nowhere near fit enough to be effective in the National League, needs to lose at least a stone in weight. Secondly, it's hard to fit him into our style of play, which is hitting the ball up for Denton to flick into the channels. This relies on players running into those channels at pace to get onto the end of the flick-ons. Again, he just doesn't have the pace -whether he would have if he was fitter, I can't say. This lack of pace led to him attempting to lob the keeper from absolutely ridiculous distances on too many occasions to mention. Once in a while a keeper would be prompted to make a fingertip save which only served to provide the illusion that it was a worthwhile strategy. There is obviously a quality player in there but Curzon are thus far the only club to tease him out. Still, there are those on our forum who will be throwing themselves onto the railroad tracks at losing one from their spank bank. :bdick:
