Tuesday should be fun then...
No doubt Cody will score a hatrick.

You will beat us if pennock the Pillock is still in charge

Did Morris ever play wide left midfield in a 4-4-2 set up with you guys? Morris has looked Championship quality in that position, but whenever Alexander has changed the formation to wing backs, eg 3-5-2 or 5-4-1, he has struggled. Even when we played poorly with a diamond, he was off his game.
I seem to remember that's where he played and fans were wanting him behind the striker(s). Just one of those things I guess, his 20 last season though would have seen us go up at a canter but as we all know football doesn't work like that.

Gillingham were competent for the 1st 20 mins making the most of the wind which then died and in the process missing an absolute sitter. After that it was all Oxford with Jon Obika missing an absolute sitter.

2nd half, our 1st goal was a really good move with Obika being pivotal and the 2nd was also a lovely goal. The 3rd whilst a good move should never have beaten the keeper at his near post, where he got nearly got beat a few times after getting rather lucky. His name, Holy, seemed appropriate after that 3rd goal.

The only disappointment is we didn't score more as we had the chances and Gills were woeful defensively at times in the 2nd half.

Played the best side we've played so far this season today. Blackpool defended very well and had a few chances too. We really struggled to break them down, didn't look like scoring all game. Have to be better on Tuesday night.

Gillingham were absolutely as bad as advertised. We were cruising at times today and clearly had an eye on a tricky couple of games in the next week. They did not feel like a L1 side, a lack of quality rather than effort.

I've seen two games this season, both 3-0 wins. Our combination play in attack can be outstanding for this level. The last two years under Appleton were hugely enjoyable and I don't want to rewrite that, but it's easy to get caught up in the development of valuable young players when just tonking teams on a Saturday is every bit as satisfying.

Our biggest problem might well be injuries, given we have taken it on ourselves to recruit from the physio room of every other club. Two more concerns after this game suggests it might hurt us.

We have previously struggled for consistency against the physical teams which we have put to the sword this season. I won't really get excited until we have won a couple against proper teams. Next two games a decent opportunity.

Only one injury concern according to Pep on Radio Oxford and that is the unknown with Ribiero's knee. Obika was only a tightening of the muscle so he came off as a precaution.

I think Canice Carroll looks better than Ribs anyway at right back so gives him a chance to establish himself. Also, Wes Thomas being back was a bonus.

Interesting point on the weather which I completely forgot about in the excitement of it all today. But to be honest, I thought Gillingham just played at far too high a level of intensity in the first 20 minutes and burned themselves out. We are all too happy to let those bulky forwards run sideline to sideline snapping after our defence and it also worked against Pompey, paying dividends as the game wears on. If they'd been smarter they -might - have competed more.

If pep said that Obika had a tight muscle then I can only assume he is off to Boro.

Bradford had a hard fought victory at the weekend whilst we were cruising. This comes too soon for them. A 3-0 win to Oxford I think.

Haha nice try, hard thought? We were 3 up at half time and could have been more if not for a clearance of the line and 2 simple square balls not finding their target. I can assure you we were in cruise control second half, don't worry we'll be ready for that Leeds reject you have in charge.

Difficult game though, I'll go 2-2 again as it didn't work out to bad Saturday. Although on my September predictions I have it down as a narrow defeat. Just hope the noise coming out of Frankie and Bennies doesn't overwhelm our players.

Apparently Pep should have had concern for Obika's injury as he is likely to be out for 10 days.

Oh, I didn't know that. With this new information, I'll go for a 3-0 win to Oxford

It's almost like Pep doesn't care about those interviews

Pompey at home. Old JFH looks as if he wants us to press with intensity so two games in quick succession might force him to change things up.

Hope 19 year old Shaun McWilliams gets a go again, looks really composed in League 1 and its hoped this is his breakout season. Encouraging two managers in a row have picked him as well.

Also Pompey fans, winds of 50mph or thereabouts are forecast in Northampton tomorrow night from 8pm onwards, so wrap up.

Apparently McCalls resting people tonight, why? It's September FFS. We've looked loads better these last two games.

Far too early to be calling tonight a 'big game' of course but certainly an opportunity to lay down a marker and prove that we're genuine promotion contenders.

Knows he'll lose.
Weirdly accurate, he always fucks about with formations or personnel in tough and/or big games.

Best was when he played 5 at the back at Wembley for the first time last season against a Millwall side who were so attacking that they created 1 shot on target all game, great times.

So McCall has dropped our leading scorer after his latest goal on Saturday, hope it works but it goes against common sense imo. Can't be arsed hearing the he needs a rest excuse either, it's bull they're professional athletes and he wasn't exactly blowing out of his arse when he was subbed Saturday. Just like Gilliead and McCarten didn't have cramp when they strolled of against Walsall.

Get in wigan winning 1-0 at Charlton, should be 4-0. Need to keep this performance up in the second half.

Our manager has said the same thing for our game against Walsall tonight, must be a cup final taking place Saturday.

Seems to be working well!

Sadlad isn't going to be happy...

At half time, yes I disagree wholeheartedly. You must have forgot about the chances we missed, or that we hit the bar.

Sorry forgot about the 1 one chance so lets say 4-1. Can honestly see you getting a goal late on for a 1-1 draw though. More points dropped :dis:
