I went to the Allen/Perry quarter final. Awful match in terms of the standard of play, but still an enjoyable afternoon out. Repeat of the 2012 final, and I can see the same result as well.

Haha. You picked the went to the worse game of the whole tournament. Glad you enjoyed it though.

Well Robertson is going to have to improve drastically from the first 3 games. Not a fan of the Aussie so its Murphy for me 10-8

Well you would have got a few quid on 6-2 Murphy after session 1!! Roberston was unplayable against Ronnie so I expected to him to win this (even against a quality in form Murphy). If Murphy wins frame 1 of the evening session this will be over quickly.

9-2 now, very one sided. Murphy's playing some great snooker.

I'm currently watching Jimmy White in his second qualifier of (hopefully) 3, to secure him a place in the 'official' first round come the weekend - a feat he hasn't managed since 2006.

Always been a big fan of his, 7-2 up as we speak.

Any other fans in? (Simply general watchers of the game are also welcome).

Yep I am a big fan.

Think I made a Snooker thread a few months ago.

Managed to get some tickets again to another Quarter final. Had two Last frame deciders the time times I have previously visited. Hoping for a third.

Elsewhere Steve Davis is 9-1 down to Kurt Maflin who has been in great form of late
Ken Doherty is through too

Notable players to fall by the wayside include Shoot-out and Indian Open winner Michael White and Martin Gould who took Robertson all the way one year.

Mid-session interval and somehow we find ourselves at 7-6.

White has been pretty poor since coming back out.

:sur:

I don't want Snooker as often as I used to. I know Cheese and Biscuits is a fan so he'll find his way to this thread at some point.

I'd love White to get his return to the Crucible though. It's got to happen one year surely.

Teenage protege Luca Brecel is beaten 10-3 by Andrew Higginson. Steve Davis loses 10-1

Ben Wollaston who is another who has been in great form recently is in trouble 9-6 down to Robin Hull.

Whites lead is 8-7... winning just one of the last 6. Could be a late night with the length of these frames!

I don't want Snooker as often as I used to.

Me too, I used to watch it a hell of a lot through the late Eighties to the early Noughties, when Hendry was boss.

I watched some three cushion billiards on Eurosport a few years back (never saw it again since) and the skill these guys showed was incredible, and after that, snooker looked crude and dull in comparison.

I used to find it really dull to watch before I started playing regularly, now I find it much more interesting!

Poor Jimmy. Gutted.

There are still a few blasts from the past in though.

Ken Doherty and Alan McManus are through and have favourable draws in the final round of qualifying.

Glory hunter.

Don't watch as much snooker as I used to, not enough characters in it anymore.

Rooted for Jimmy White a lot as well, what glory did he achieve! :D

Hendry at his peak was an extraordinary player though, completely dominant and moved the game on from being a slightly defensive style, to attack all the time.

Selby is currently 8/1 to retain his title. That is puntworthy.

Some different names have qualifed this year

Mark Davis
Ryan Day
Grahame Dott
Jamie Jones
Anthony McGill
Alan McManus
Craig Steadman (Ranked 81st) First appearance
Matthew Stevens
Anda Zhang (Ranked 98th!) Second appearance at World Champs. First was 2010. Other than that hasnt done a lot
Jimmy Robertson (Ranked 52)
Stuart Carrington (Ranked 69)
Rob Milkins
Robin Hull
Kurt Maflin
Robbie Williams (Ranked 68)

So a few new faces to TV cameras.

I think Kurt Maflin is very capable and Graeme Dott would be a tough game of course

Some really close game it seems!

They probably need a break.

Ryan Day and Jamie Jones also decent players on their day. Looking forward to it this year, one of my favourite fortnights of the year.

Ronnie an obvious choice for the winner, but I fancy a Trump Robertson final.
