Even though we're not on it, we still have the most expensive and the best pies. As you were.

Did that calculator thing and it comes up with what it costs you per season but then ignores the cost of away travel which is most of it for me. Bit weird, though the comparison between your club and others is always interesting.

Are they going to carry on doing this survey every year? It was vaguely interesting the first time but a bit tedious reading the same figures for the 4th year in a row.

What's the point of the "cheapest ticket" price at most clubs when often it's only available for 0.01% of fans?

And there's always some bellend that brings up the bullshit about Dortmund's '1p' season ticket which includes a flight from London first class and a meal at a Michelen star restaurant. Even though they charged Spurs fans £35 for a Europa League match over there.

I saw a Bundesliga match last season at Cologne, and tickets were more than £35. I think the cheap tickets are only for a select few seats, just so they can say how cheap it is to watch German football.

Isn't it the clubs that put forward the information?
Only the questions they ask, which are pretty simplistic.

As always, they don't delve into ticket promotions, of which we have probably 5 or 6, which can result in paying as little as £10 for an adult and child. Then, aside from normal type season ticket benefits, there's cash-back on season tickets, free matchday travel etc.

That's not just for us. Others will also run lots of promotions, but it hardly reflects well on any of us when the BBC can't be arsed to ask enough questions to get a true picture of cost at this level.

Think it was €35 or so when I saw Eintracht Frankfurt, we were at the back, still a decent view in fairness.

Balkan Football is much, much cheaper. Obviously a much worse standard though!

Similarly, I went to Seville and tried to get a ticket for Betis at the ground - €70!!! Apparently just because it was against a local rival (Malaga)

The price is working out very cheap for me this season, I haven't been to a match in ages.

Blimey! Although it's to be expected, my mate paid €140 for a Madrid Derby ticket at the Calderon on Saturday!

Not sure when my next short trip will be, although it probably won't be the Balkans (done about 5 in the past year there). Seen some OK matches actually, despite the general standard being shocking!

Will probably look to do Latvia/Lithuania at some point in 2017 and Madrid to do the Calderon and Ukraine.

You are kind of right about the price of German football, but only in part. Firstly, the price of European games have to meet certain pricing criteria set out by UEFA. But the main thing about German football is that it is cheap if you stand. In European football there is of course no standing (rail seats are technically seats and subject to seat prices). 35 Euro for Spurs in Dortmund? Compare that to 55 pounds Club Brugge fans had to pay in Leicester!!
The other issue with the cheaper terrace tickets is that in a number of stadiums in the top two flights they are not accessible to someone on a single game basis. They are either all sold on a season ticket basis or allocated to fan groups.
That said, for some clubs (Bundesliga Mainz, Freiburg etc and several in Bundesliga 2), single game tickets are available for around 13 Euro (by comparison cheapest Mainz Europa League ticket is 19 Euro).
Regarding seats prices, yes they are relatively more expensive than terrace tickets, but what you tend to find is that the band is much smaller than in England (normally 30-40 Euro) and there are single game walk up junior and concession discounts which is sometimes not the case in England. Unfortunately the dreaded banding system is creeping in. But even at 35 Euro for a seat at Eintracht, is that that expensive for a top flight game in comparison to England?
This is all also true in the 2nd and 3rd tiers, although in the 3rd tier I think every team has single game terrace tickets available on a walk up basis outside high risk games (maybe not Hansa, but not sure). My seat at MSV Duisburg (3rd tier) is 26 Euro single game (I pay 400 Euro per season) every bit as expensive as say Bradford City (although based on last night an significantly better ground, atmosphere and standard than Bradford!!), but on the day terrace tickets are available for virtually every game at 12 Euro, cheaper than I would suggest any ticket in the top 5 if not 6 tiers in England for an adult walk up ticket?
Spain, by the sounds of it is another matter......but it is not somewhere I travel to very often.

I wasn't suggesting that £35 was expensive Mr Scanlon. ;) I'd be more than happy to pay that on a weekly basis for top flight football.

Yeah, not saying £35 is too expensive for top flight football (and the fact that public transport travel is included is great), just saying that British football isn't much more expensive in the scheme of things, yet people still use the "you can see Dortmund for a tenner" line all the time, when in reality it's just not true.

We're the most expensive which you'd probably expect. But I still think if you have a season ticket it's good value, you're basically paying £13 a game then. The controversial part is the £2 surcharge for people who turn up on the day, potentially puts casual fans off going.

Tranmere's casual support is down at least 30% this season. Don't know what the club are playing at with this surcharge as simular schemes at Crewe and Oldham have been disasterous. £19/20 is far too much for non league football.

I very much agree that £19/20 is a ripoff for this level. £15 is a ripoff as well. The argument that some clubs have big facilities to run compared to others is laughable, at the end of the day we're all paying to watch Conference Football.

I'm proud that my club has such cheap season tickets (whilst the £85 quoted was a select number of season tickets, most adult season tickets were sold for less than £100). Home attendances have trebled in 2 years effectively. Even our casual attendance seems to have increased. So far for Saturday home games were getting more than 200 extra home fans than season tickets sold.

This week we announced half-season tickets prices. £59 for adults £45 for Students and OAPs £10 for 13-17 year olds and £5 for 12 and unders

I would agree with the two posters immediately above, about £19/20 being a lot to watch non-league football. I know a lot of people who watch football at this level because of the often prohibitive costs of following teams at a higher level, it makes ones eyes water to hear how much it costs to watch a game at some of the Premiership teams, particularly in the London area. That also depends on whether you are lucky enough to get a ticket, many games are sold out. I understand that all teams have costs, not just player wages but also running a stadium and everything else that that involves. My club has kept season ticket prices the same for several seasons, the £325 I paid this season also included two pre-season friendlies, so that averages out at £13 per game. I reckon that is good value, especially considering the quality of football on offer this season, not so good when Hockaday and Pennock were managing the team.

Like Sutton we have also grown our crowds over the last couple of years, up by around fifty percent. There is a sort of mental attachment that goes with having a season ticket, almost an obligation to attend game, even those that might not appear so attractive on paper. Getting more people to attend more regularly will have them spending money in other areas, memorabilia, team strips, food and drink. Sutton are clearly taking a long term view with their season ticket pricing, though to be fair they are in a very competitive location when it comes to attracting people to games. Their ticket prices have obviously been kept at a level that will help grow the fanbase, which is to be applauded. I suppose you could regard football a bit like other businesses, like transport, whereby you pay a bit extra if you buy your ticket at the last minute. The trick is to set pricing at a level whereby people don't think they have been fleeced and may ultimately become regular supporters, perhaps even buying a season ticket...get them to do that and you probably have their support for years!

Your club believes it can make more money by volume rather than by a "market value" season ticket.

That said, I'm not sure tickets at Sutton and Tranmere are comparable. Our fans are paying a high amount so we can retain our league one standard infrastructure and they know this. Were we to get back to back promotions (not exactly out of the realms) then prices would remain flat, whilst our turnover would still double.

We're very much self sustainable unlike Wrexham and Grimsby.

I think £15 is about right, especially when there are clubs in Coinf North and South charging even more. Most clubs at level 3 charge a tenner and no one really seems to grumble (perhaps it's an accepted mind set that they are supporting their local team) so £15 whilst still not cheap is reasonable, but once you get towards the £20 mark, that's simply taking the piss. FFS its cheaper to get into many Div 1 & 2 matches, but Suttons prices are probably, if this doesn't sound absurd, too cheap, however welcomed they are to all those who go there....like tonight!:2thumb:

One) We're playing Dover tomorrow night
Two) Our gate prices start at £15 for adults, so par for the course in this division, it's only our season tickets that are cheap (the thinking seems to be it's easier to build a long term fanbase with season ticket holders, as they're more likely to attend more games, than with people who pay on the gate. A season ticket, regardless of how cheap it is, is for most people a long(er) term investment
Three) Other than St Albans, who charge £15 I can't think of a single step 2 club that doesn't charge less than £15, some £3 or £4 cheaper.
