19 years ago December 29th 1997, I saw my team beat a Doncaster side that was having its heart and soul ripped out of it 8-0, will this be a similar tale nearly 20 years on, but with the roles reversed? :pond:

Our squad has been diminished by injuries and players being binned off and youth players being thrown in at the deep end, because we're dept due to our stupidly poorly managed wage bill.

Our owner had the chance to employ Darren Ferguson 18 months ago, but chose Ian Hendon instead because he's a fucking moron.

I'm past caring if I am honest.

I remember that Donny side, they were so poor. And no, you're not past caring as you still love the O's and you know it. You still go to the away games for a start ;)

I used to lose Donny's old ground, it had real character and char, whereas the keepmoat is definitively one of the worst grounds I have ever been to. It's nice and shiny, sure, but it lacks atmosphere and is miles out of town in an industrial park, so I won't be going.

Oh who am I kidding, It's not because of the ground that I'm not attending (although once was more than enough), but because of the sorry state of my team.

New manager syndrome should keep the score down to a very respectable 3 - 0, it's a real shame Edwards couldn't have gotten an easier side for his first game in charge (again).

Quite possibly the dullest fixture in any league this weekend.

Come on Orient... have some belief you can do it. I've been reading Viking Chat and these lot could do with a sound thrashing :) or even just 1-0 will do.

:cool1: It's quite tame on there given the form of both teams, I don't see us giving Orient a thrashing we don't have that in us, we will make hard work of it and again fail to keep a clean sheet

Not with respect this game, just there seems to be a general belief on there that you are indeed the best team in the divison in contrast to the pessimism of the fans of the others in the top five.

I think it's more optimism given the utter shite we have endured over the last 3 years.

In theory, we have everything going in our favour for this game.. which means we'll make a real mess of it and scrape three points at the end on current form.

Head says 2-1 Rovers, Heart is hoping for more, I've come all the way back from Belgium for this, so as long as it doesn't finish 0-0..

I think we deserve a bit of happiness and gloating after the utter devastation we've faced since April 2013.

And now we're losing 1-0, Fergie is even more of a silly disgrace if he can't win this!

Well it's 8-0 but only in corners

When we came down here the other season it was noticable the drop, not just in quality of football (which isn't too different from the bottom half of league one) but also the size and prestige of opponents faced, as in L1 we were used to having teams like Sheff Wed & United, Leeds, Forest, Charlton, Southampton, Leicester etc, and there were a good few teams playing Championship quality football, you just have to look at how many teams there are who have gone from L1 to the Premiership. There is a feeling of being among the big boys in League One, So to go from the Championship to L2 so quickly I can understand it must feel like you're suddenly in another world and can certainly understand a lot of chat amongst Donny fans being about how dreadful the standard is down here. Not necessarily that we were that high standard ourselves but that we aren't seeing the same standards week in week out.

:2thumb: Very good result and performance from us today, much improved on the last match I managed to make it to at the end of last season.

Orient played very defensively and never really came out to attack, for the majority of the first half they had 10 players behind the ball. Cracking free kick though for their goal.

We played well to get back into it though and created plenty of opportunities.

All in all, very happy with the result and the performance. Though you have to sympathise with Orient, too many teams have been dragged into a mad decent and had to deal with terrible ownership.

The task was too much in the end, we had too many players out and by the end of the game all of the wingers we have at the club couldn't play, so we had to bring a youngster on who ended up conceding the first penalty.

Even if we led 1-0 at half time, I still think we'd have lost. The ball wasn't sticking up front at all and Simpson and Palmer were crap for us, if you're going to sit back like we did, you need your outlets to be playing well. All of our strikers are woefully out of form.

I thought our youngsters in defence did ok overall, but it was a harsh lesson for them today.

Doncaster easily the best side I've seen this season and no doubt will be pushing for the top 3. Although once or twice at 3-1 they did nearly let us get back into it with a few stray passes.
