So hypothetically speaking, please answer this moral dilemma. You can either sacrifice England's World Cup dreams and save the Thai boys trapped down the cave or vice versa.

Do I have to save them myself?

Cos I've never scuba dived and Thailand is a long trek from our house like.

Good question. No, it's the standard rescue mission that has already started but I think the boys would appreciate it if you could get there to clap them out of the cave when they make it out.

Oh and btw if you read this thread and don't vote it will be assumed that you don't care about both or either sets of brave boys. Meadow Nilsson Stagat Leo
....decisions, decisions. Oh go on then....put me down for a rescue but an England win in the semi.

I did toy with the idea of a third option of leaving the coach down in the cave and England losing in the final but decided against it.

Easy one, Thai Boys rescue, of course

(no, no, nothing to do with Engerland winning a World Cup. I would even vote for the rescue when Germany was in the final, we've won enough of those World Cups, they have only one life.)

Yeah, but there are a lot more Thai children than world cups.

I would opt for England to win the WC, but arrange for a minutes applause prior to kick off for the thai people.

They likely believe differently.

So what you are saying is, either the trophy comes home, or the boys do?

Just send Pickford to stop the rain going in the cave.

After we've won the tournament.

Yes I know what you meant. Your English wasn't clumsy. The tone of your reply is a bit weird though. :dk:

Well, looks like the Thai Boys will all be rescued in good time and what's more England are still winning this WC so good news all around. Well done to all.

*Here's another scenario for you lot - if England win the WC, we've got to give the Malvinas (oops sorry, I meant the Falklands) to the Argies. What what you do? Personally, I'd give that fishstock depleting island in the middle of nowhere to them and throw in Scotland as well as a freebie. But that's just me.

*don't shoot me guys, I'm only killing time here before the simply inevitable England semi final win on Wed.

They can have Scotland, Wales, Malvinas, the Isle of White, Northern Ireland (especially Northern Ireland), most of the midlands and all of Kent.

Hold hard Vanni.

It's the Toothfish that fund the Falklands (and South Georgia) economy at the moment but when I was there a few years back it was oil that was funding the new harbour at Port Stanley and the potential oil revenues are massive. That is an underlying reason why this is a bit more than a jingoistic issue and political distraction for the Argies and a feelgood issue for us.

I've got some Argie mates and acquaintances and the wife's friend and Spanish teacher, who lives in Histon, is from Buenos Aires. Despite all the Malvinas Memorials and anti-British propaganda from the government, I've never encountered any antagonism, just the reverse, in all our travels around the country. Most of those I meet are salt of the earth trying to get by or pro-environment and leftish in their politics so we have far more common ground - anti-fascist and anti-nationalist. Every country has it's spectrum but Argentina is a fascinating melange of the urban/rural, internationalist/nationalist, left/right and has some great cinema and music.

That's why I can tolerate them and Uruguay being cheating dirty bastards at football. I even remember painting Rattin doing the V sign at the ref as my contribution to the shool's World Cup mural in 1966.

I think there is going to be a terrible accident and the coach drown on his way out.

He survived, and presumably England will now lose. I hope those who voted for saving the team can live with their decision, because they surely killed our chance at a trophy.
