Hasn’t Norwood already played at this level and flopped?

I could be completely wrong but the name rings a bell.
According to Wiki he played a few games in League 1 for Exeter as an 18 year old, but has been confined to non-league since. He's grown as a player in his time at Tranmere, so if there was a good time to make the step up, it's probably now.

Seems like I had the wrong player in mind then. Come to think of it I think Mangan was the player in my mind.

Don't think Tranmere will be around the play offs next season, more likely to be a solid mid table side (11-14th place) with no real danger of going back down again. They've been here before so will be aware of what it takes to stay well clear of the drop zone, unlike FGR (who I thought were going to finish much higher this season) but IMO struggled as they had no real experience of league footy at all.

Main reason I reckon Tranny won't make the top 7 is not that I don't rate their side but more that there are quite a few more stronger sides in their way. I expect all 3 losing Play off sides to be up there again, plus Mansfield, Col U and Swindon. Then there are the sides down from L1 and MK and the Cobblers will surely be up there, and quite possibly Oldham too, but I'm unsure on the latter as I just don't know enough about their squad.

James Norwood is quality, I know, I’ve been watching Football since 1969. He’s got the pace of an athlete and skill, all the attributes of a championship player. Think he’s got a few demons in his mind though, most notably when he’s through one on one.
Will he be at Tranmere next season, probably not if there’s any scouts out there with half a clue!

Norwood is a great striker and always slips under the radar with Cookie banging them in. Those two are a great pairing and expect them to do well in the Football League.

I don't think we'll be in any danger of relegation next season. If we have a strong transfer window then we could have an outside shot of the playoffs however I think we'll get a solid 10th place finish. Which I'd happily take!

I really have not got a clue how we will perform next season, as our stay in League Two was so brief it is difficult to gauge the difference in quality between the two divisions. However, I don't think we will do an FGR and I expect Cook and Norwood to do well.

Imagine how many Norwood could score if he was composed in one-on-ones! Every BT highlights show he seems to miss one or two!

To be fair to him, his one-on-one finishing did improve in the second half of last season. Instead of just lashing the ball he was being cuter and committing the keeper.

A couple of years ago he was ridiculous though. There were occasions when he literally missed four or five in one game.

It’s far too early to judge how Rovers will fare. Depends on whether key out of contract players sign new deals, Andy Cook in particular, along with who we bring in. Our recruiting needs to improve significantly on last summer.

However a decent fan-base and FFP operating, which could work in our favour with the non-football financial improvements under the Palioi mean that I’d reckon lower-mid table is about the worst we’ll do. Hopefully a lot better...

He's notorious for it, but recently he's been tucking them away more often.

Did you spell Ollie Banks wrong?
I’m not sure what happened re Baxter. It seemed pretty likely he’d sign for us, he was hanging around the ground for the playoff semi final against Ebbsfleet, was part of the celebrations after Wembley in the bar at the ground and Andy Mangan said during said celebrations that Baxter will probably be here next season. Whether we offered him a contract and he chose you guys or we felt that Connor Jennings and Larnell Cole were too similar I don’t know.

Either way I’d prefer he was playing for us than against us. Ah well still plenty of time.

Hopefully it's a sign that our new owner has some decent coin.

It could go either way. He could be signing of the season and prove he’s better than this level or he could blow it all again with off field issues and drag his reputation back through the mire.

I am quite glad we did not sign Baxter. If he can recapture the form of three or four years ago he will obviously be one of, if not the, best player in the division. But we have taken too many gambles on players with baggage in recent seasons and I would rather the budget went elsewhere.
