None of the above. Can't imagine how they got through the group stages.

Not even Pompeii Alan? It's simply stunning imo.

What surprises is that NYC has received 3 votes so far. AFAIC, every city with endless blocks of skyscrapers can never be called a nice place.

Listing an entire fucking city versus a single building (albeit a famous one) is stooopid. This is why these things should be left in the hands of the professionals.

Agreed with my fellow Aber in this instance (sorry Lib). Should have been the Empire State Building or Sydney. Although those ITK know that the Gold Coast is the best city in Australia.

The site itself was interesting, even impressive, but my memory of it (and Herculaneum) was dominated by the urban sprawl that surround it and Vesuvius, all the way through to Naples. Perhaps coloured by the fact we were on a fly drive ( in the 80s) - I think that area has the most frightening drivers in Europe, only rivalled in Asia.

Better food, wine and countryside in the deeper south or further north - even Rome had more to offer (including Vatican TV at Easter) but the Cinque Terre or Aeolian Islands would be top of my Italian places to visit list.

While I'm a Napoli fan, I have been in Naples and its a shithole. Pompeii was great though.
