The Valley- Charlton Athletic FC Ground Guide

How Easy Was The Ground to Get To (from the station, by car, etc)

Gone by train a couple of times. Charlton Station is just across the road from the ground, and easily reachable from Central London via Charing Cross.

If Applicable, How is Parking Near The Ground?
N/A

Based on Where You Were Sat, How Was the View?
The away end is the only side of the Valley that hasnt been redeveloped. That said, its still pretty good. Couple of pillars, but they're halfway up, so the view is generally still pretty good.

If You Ate at The Ground, How Would You Rate the Food?
Only ate in the ground once and I had a stomach bug so cant really recommend it on that basis!

How Was The Atmosphere At The Ground, From Both Sets of Supporters? Does the Stadium Hold the Noise?
The acoustics in the away end are fantastic, so it doesnt take much to get going.

How Are the Pubs and Local Attractions in The Local Area?
Couple of decent pubs on the main road near the ground, and plenty of places to eat.

Overall Score Out of 10?
Smart little ground, and a good away day like most London grounds.
7/10

Just a couple of things to add.

Parking is rubbish around the ground, the closest street parking is at the top of Charlton Church Lane but is minimal so you'll be lucky to find somewhere. If you can't park there you probably won't find anywhere until you get past Charlton Park, a 20 minute walk so not terrible. There is a retail park on the main road and a Makro but I'm sure both are restricted to 3 hours only.

Unfortunately, there is only one pub for away fans near the ground now. The Antigallican is the designated away pub and is instantly in view to the left as you walk out of Charlton station.
Alternatively, if you fancy a ten minute walk you can walk towards the Antigallican and turn left at the traffic lights and go to The Rose of Denmark which is a decent little pub which welcomes away fans as does The Pickwick a few minutes further on.

My recommendation to away fans travelling by train is always to either drink at London Bridge or get off the train at Greenwich where there are plenty of good boozers around before getting back on the train for a 10 minute journey to Charlton.
