Just got around to seeing Summerslam, thought it was a really good show all in all.

The main event was superb, though I think that we all knew it would be with the people involved. Stiff as fuck, some brutal stuff (that shot with the corner of the ringsteps to Strowmans ear!) and really entertaining.

Nakamura vs Mahal was decent enough (and I LOVE that it was the 2nd to last match, rather than sticking a title match near the start or in the middle), Balor vs Wyatt and Styles vs Owens were very good, and I actually thought that both tag title matches, particularly the New Day vs Usos one, were great as well. New Day vs Usos being bumped to the pre show, was a crime considering how great that was. Genuinely think that both of those teams are some of the most under rated in ring performers on the roster, and they showed why in their match.

All in all, much better than last years show... which was about the only poor Summerslam in a good 7 or so years, I think. Also the only Summerslam that I actually fucking bothered to go to. For fucks sake.

the only matches i wasn't really in to was both women's matches, cass vs show and orton rusev was pointless.... i didn't bother with the pre-show but how pissed off would you have been if you were in that first match wrestling to about 10 people!?

I realised that Rusev has been booked in 1 vs 1 matches for Summerslam 2 years in a row, yet has had about 3 seconds of actual match time in those two years....

It was pretty good all in all. Just a typical card of the undercard over delivering and the main events not quite living up to their potential. Though neither of them were actually bad. The Cena/Reigns match disappointed in the fact that it was merely decent rather than being the all time classic it could have been considering the people involved, and I felt like the Strowman vs Lesnar match never truly reached the heights I'd hoped it would either.

But the undercard ranged from solid to outstanding. It started off really well with Miz/Jordan, and Wyatt/Balor both being good, and then stepped it up a gear with a fantastic tag title match (in which Cesaro, the fucking machine of a man, had his two front teeth sunk 3 or 4mm into his gum, bled like a tap, and then wrestled like a fucking champ for another good 10/15 minutes or so) and a really good womens match as well.

Anyway, after PPV's actually feeling a bit special for a couple of months, we're back to having them basically every 2 weeks again now. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Surely there is no way they can keep the strap on jinder after the last few weeks of the worst promos i have ever heard? The WWE realise that no one cares about jinder right? RIGHT?

Overall i thought the two HIAC matches were really strong, the whole Shane McMahon going back up to the top when he had the match won added nothing to the match other than the spot, but it was a nice addition having Zayn help Owens.

It was really hard to digest that Smackdown had 7 matches on the card, and they needed 3 and a half hours for it, i felt everything in between the HIAC matches was dull, and was way longer than it needed to be. I see no direction for Rusev, Orton, Jinder, Nakamura, Ziggler or Roode after that show.

I said in another thread that i don't think Nakamura is ready for the title, the time was Summerslam. The weeks leading to HIAC has cooled the Nakamura train down for me. I legitimately do not see a champion on Smackdown, not one person i feel is deserving of the title other than Kevin Owens. He is the shining light on a very dim and poorly built smackdown roster.

I know what you mean. I like Nakamura but the language barrier certainly doesn't help either. Owens as you say and AJ, that's about it.

Pretty much agreed on HIAC. The two HIAC matches were superb, but the rest of the show was utterly forgettable. Apart from the fashion files, of course.

So there's a bout of viral meningitis going around WWE atm - hence why Bray and Bo have been off TV. It's just been announced that Bray is out of the match vs Finn (thank God?) and we're getting Finn vs AJ Styles on Sunday.
Even bigger, THE BIG DOG is out of the Shield reunion to be replaced by KURT ANGLE. Oh it's true, it's damn true.

I could be a promoter.

Althoigh I do feel this debut is wasted on a last minute choice.

Yes I know there is beef with the Miz, but still

I know what you mean. Bit of a tough situation though. I'm sure they'll build to a big match at Mania.

I'm really torn about the whole thing. The entire PPV was built around the Shields reunion, and it's been awesome to watch the build up for the last few weeks so it's gutting that we aren't going to get it. It was kind of always my long term hopes for The Shield back when they first showed up... have them dominate together, have them split up, let all three of them establish themselves as single stars and then one day bring them back together and it'd be huge... this is kind of the pay off to something I'd hoped to see and waited years for, and it's collapsed at the last second.

And yes, it's INCREDIBLE to think that we're going to get a Kurt Angle match, but on the other hand it's gutting that it's not got the build up/fan fare that it deserves. It would have been really special to watch him get involved in a WM match or something for his return to the ring, but we lose that now.

So basically, loads of negatives for me, but the single fact that we get to see Kurt Angle in a WWE ring again sort of half makes up for it. I think, all things considered, I'd have preferred Reigns to have been there instead and to have waited for Angles return, but I still can't be too mad.

Sort of the story with The Shield at TLC though... remember, their debut was announced late on as well... we were supposed to get CM Punk vs Ryback, but Punk had to miss the show so we got The Shield vs Ryback and Team Hell No instead. Kind of keeps with the theme of unplanned changes.

Blergh. I'm sure it'll still be incredible. But I do wish it had gone as planned instead.

Owens has gone home from the tour for 'personal reasons' also.

Total cluster of a main event but thought it was a good PPV overall.
