SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • We saw highlights of the bodyslam challenge from yesterday on the USS Intrepid as Lex Luger managed to bodyslam the 550 pounder. Vince McMahon conducted an interview with Yokozuna & Mr. Fuji later in the show regarding the events on the USS Intrepid before Mr. Fuji threw out an open challenge for the WWF Championship which was answered by Crush. Mr. Fuji didn't want to accept the challenge but the WWF Champion himself accepted.

(Mr. Fuji caused Crush to fall off the top rope which led to Yokozuna retaining the title. Post-match, Yokozuna hit two more Bonzai drops on Crush until Tatanka attempted to make the save but was knocked to the floor. Yokozuna hit a 4th Bonzai drop on crush and went for another until Randy Savage pulled Crush from the ring.)

  • Jerry Lawler presented an edition of the King's Court where his guest was Tiny Tim, Lawler broke his ukulele for calling him the dairy queen.
  • Vince McMahon conducted an in-ring interview with Money, Inc regarding their WWF Tag Team Championship against the Steiner Brothers on WWF Superstars. Ted Dibiase spoke about Razor Ramon before Razor cleared the ring of the former Tag Team Champions. Dibiase then demanded a match with the Kid with the intent of beating him in 30 seconds to make Ramon look even worse.

(Jannetty had the match won but it was brought to the referee's attention Michaels foot was on the rope so the match was restarted.)

4# The 1-2-3 Kid bt. Chris Duffy
(Money, Inc came to ringside during the match which led to Razor coming out also. Post-match, Kid didn't want to leave through Ramon or Money, Inc so he left through the crowd as Razor taunted Dibiase.)

  • Vince McMahon & Bobby Heenan spoke over the phone with Ted Dibiase about his loss to the 1-2-3 Kid this past weekend on WWF Wrestling Challenge.
  • Bobby Heenan introduced the greatest manager in the history of wrestling - Jim Cornette, to the ring. He spoke of having the greatest tag team he has ever managed - The Heavenly Bodies, and issued a challenge to the WWF Tag Team Champions on their behalf.
  • We see further footage of the Lex Express visiting Erie, PA.

(We learned before the match, the Steiner Brother has issued an open challenge for the tag team titles at Summerslam.)

2# Adam Bomb (w/ Johnny Polo) bt. Tony Roy
3# "Macho Man" Randy Savage bt. Doink the Clown
(A midget dressed as Savage appeared from under the ring which distracted Doink as Savage applied an inside cradle to get the 3. Post-match, the Macho Midget hit Doink on the butt before Doink was held back by officials.)

4# Mr. Perfect bt. Barry Hardy
(Jim Cornette was on commentary for this match.)

Next week - Lex Luger & Yokozuna will be here for their official contract signing for their WWF Championship match at Summerslam. Also next week, Tatanka will face Mr. Hughes and we will see the debut of the Heavenly Bodies.

  • Yokozuna and Lex Luger had their official summerslam contract signing but Jim Cornette came out with Mr.Fuji and Yokozuna and was announced as Yokozuna's new American spokesperson. Once Luger signed the contract, Cornette announced that an added clause to the match was in the contract and that was there will be no rematch. Jack Tunney and various WWF officials oversaw the contract signing.

(Tatanka body slammed Mr. Hughes on the floor. Post-match, Hughes knocked out Tatanka with the Undertaker's urn and placed a wreath on him.)

There was no Monday Night Raw on August 23rd as there were highlights of the Summerslam Spectacular Show from August 22nd whereby The Steiner Brothers successfully defended the WWF Tag Team Championship against Money, Inc in a steel cage match, Shawn Michaels succesfully defended the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Bob Backlund and in the main event, the WWF Champion Yokozuna defeated "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan in a non-title match

2# The Steiner Brothers bt. The Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) to retain the WWF Tag Team Championship
3# Shawn Michaels (w/ Diesel) bt. Mr. Perfect Via count-out to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship
(Diesel threw Perfect in to the ring post and threw Michaels back in to the ring, which led to Perfect being counted out. Post-match, Perfect gained some revenge on Michaels and Diesel but the numbers game was against him and ended up getting double teamed with a punch in the face by Diesel which knocked him out. Todd Pettengill interview Michaels and Diesel whereby Michaels proclaimed himself as the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time.)

4# I.R.S bt. The 1-2-3 Kid
5# Bret "Hitman" Hart bt. Doink the Clown Via Submission
(Before the match, Jerry Lawler appeared on crutches and spoke how he was injured in a car accident. Lawler brought Doink to the ring as his replacement. Post-match, Lawler jumped in to the ring and assaulted Bret with his crutches proving Lawler's injury to be a fraud. Lawler was met by a number of WWF Officials including WWF President Jack Tunney, and he was ordered to face Bret in a match or be banned from the WWF for life.)

6# "The King" Jerry Lawler bt. Bret "Hitman" Hart Via reverse decision
(Bret initially won the match by submission but after Bret kept hold of the sharpshooter for a number of minutes, the decision was reversed by the referee.)

7# Ludvig Borga bt. Marty Jannetty Via Submission
8# The Undertaker bt. Giant Gonzalez (w/ Harvey Whippleman) in a Rest in Peace match
(During the match, Paul Bearer appeared with a wreath and stole back the urn from Whippleman. Post-match, Gonzalez stalked Whippleman around the ring before hitting him with a chokeslam.)

9# Tatanka & The Smoking Gunns bt. The Headshrinkers (w/ Afa) & Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Luna Vachon) in a six man tag team match
10# Lex Luger bt. Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette) Via Count-out in a WWF Championship match
(Before the match, a Japanese representative sang the Japan national anthem and Aaron Neville performed the American national anthem. During the match, Luger removed his forearm pad and hit the WWF Champion with the running forearm and knocking him out cold on the outside to cause the count-out. Post-match, a number of WWF Superstars celebrated with Luger as red, white and blue balloons fell from the rafters.)

There was no Monday Night Raw episode on September 6th.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Crush arrived at the building for the Randy Savage/Crush summit hosted by Bobby Heenan. Crush came to the ring with Mr. Fuji. Heenan stirred up how Savage allowed Crush to take 4 Bonzai drops back in July, It appeared that Crush and Savage had made up until Crush clotheslined the Macho Man and dropped him on the guard rail. Moments later, the WWF Champion came to ringside and hit Savage with the Bonzai drop twice.
  • The fans had the option to vote as to whether Shawn Michaels' suspension should be lifted, with 64% voting it shouldn't be lifted.
  • We saw a vignette promoting the debut of Jeff Jarrett as he was at the Country Music Hall of fame in Nashville.

  • Vince McMahon & Bobby Heenan interviewed Owen Hart backstage about Bret being the 1993 wrestler of the year. Owen said he has his own surprise soon and people will be talking about him instead of his brother.
  • We see another vignette of Jeff Jarrett who was meeting a saxophone player outside the Legend's Hall of fame in Nashville, Jarrett said he will use the WWF to headline Nashville.
  • Gorilla Monsoon came to confront Bobby Heenan about what he was saying about him during the show, Heenan then grabbed Heenan's jacket and dragged him backstage before throwing him out of the back door along with Heenan's bag. Heenan scrambled to get his things before giving a salute as the show ended.

1# The 1-2-3 Kid vs. Shawn Michaels ended in a no contest
(Razor pulled the kid from the ring before chasing Michaels around the ring after he hit the Kid with the Razor's Edge twice without making a cover. Post-match, Razor stalked Michaels up the aisle but Diesel punched Razor from behind the curtain which led to Michaels dropping Razor with two Razor's Edge by the entrance.)

(Bret was unable to continue so the referee stopped the match. Post-match, Owen confronted Bret over not tagging him in and kicked Bret on his injured leg. Ray Rougeau attempted to get word from officials in the ring but Bret got carried away on a stretcher. Todd Pettengill got an interview with his brother Owen who said that Bret was selfish, and Owen said it would be he who wins the royal rumble.)

3# Razor Ramon bt. I.R.S to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship
(Gorilla Monsoon & Jim Ross were on commentary for this match as Vince McMahon & Ted Dibiase commented on radio WWF; I.R.S originally had the match won after Shawn Michaels interfered in the match by hitting Razor with the fake Intercontinental title belt. Earl Hebner informed referee Joey Marella on what happened and the match continued.)

4# Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette) bt. The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) in a casket match to retain the WWF Championship
(Bam Bam Bigelow, Crush, The Great Kabuki, Genichiro Tenyru, Diesel, Jeff Jarrett, Adam Bomb and the Headshrinkers interfered and ganged up on the Undertaker. Mr. Fuji stole the urn of the undertaker but Paul Bearer reclaimed it before hitting Fuji and Cornette with it. The WWF Champion then hit Undertaker with the urn before green mist poured out of it as it hit the mat. Taker was soon rolled in the casket and Yokozuna had the match won. Post-match, they attempted to roll the casket away until smoke came out of the casket and the Undertaker's gong was heard. He appeared on-screen from inside the casket and said he would not rest in peace before the Undertaker was lifted in to the rafters after his image was shown on-screen.)
