Just checked and he played 37 out of 38 games. 4 being sub appearances.
So what I just said then. Anyway Drinkwater was absolutely a key player for Leicester. He's not for England and wouldn't be because we don't play the same.
You can say the same of Simpson and Fuchs. Just a cohesive team with decent players which is something nobody else had.
Say the same in what respect? Nobody discredits the contribution of those players based on them playing next to Huth and Morgan. Drinkwaters contribution seems to be constantly disregarded because of who he was playing alongside.

Newcastle fans have often criticized Simpson (just because they're Newcastle fans!) and Fuchs wasn't all that at Schalke but you feel that most players don't receive the same type of praise as Kanté and Mahrez get. If they did, Drinkwater would be in the 23 without too much doubt.

So if England sat deeper and looked to play on the counter.

What would we get with Drinkwater instead of the other players I mentioned? I still think it's more or less like for like regardless of what we play.

A better understanding of the way a key forward plays than seemingly anyone else in the side? And even if you consider him no different to Henderson for example in terms of what they can do, then surely the player that's been in form all through the season, isn't nursing an injury, finished the season on a high and was given MOTM on his England debut in the first of his only 2 games as well as being an ever present in the side that won the league surely warrants him a place above someone who you might believe is of the exact same ability on all levels, but hasn't played for months thanks to injury, hasn't finished the season in form or on a high and as a result hasn't played a part for a side who finished in 8th, and has doubts over his fitness.

Was Kante 'all that' at Caen?

My point was I don't think it really matters which one we take. I'm not saying no to Drinkwater, I'm just saying I don't care. I'd be surprised if he'd be able to make a difference, compared to what we already have.

I think Welbeck is going to be a huge miss. I think we could of played the diamond more effectively with him upfront rather than Vardy. Welbeck is a lot more flexible, would run the channels more and would be suited to tracking the full back or pulling out wide for Rooney to fill in up front. An example is when we played the diamond with Welbeck upfront in Switzerland for the qualifiers and he ran them ragged.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Sterling start. He started the first two of the warm up games and came off the bench in the last one.

And I've seen it pointed out that England scored five goals in those three games. Only one came when Sterling wasn't on the pitch and he played a part - either a direct assist or his pass leading to the assist - in all of the other four.

And it's probably no surprise that I'll be miffed to see the inevitable starting spot for Rooney. He's not the best English striker in the country. (He's arguably not the best English striker at United) He's not the best English midfielder. He has a frankly awful track record at tournaments, so why not give someone else a go.

Good to see a minority of England fans let us down again.

I have realised for the three England games I am, respectively: in a family commitment I can't get out of, at work, and on a plane. Fuckin' 'ell.

To be fair, having read both articles, this seemingly (STRESS UPON SEEMINGLY) has been caused by French locals starting things Thursday, and the most recent events being caused by over-zealous policing and needless use of tear gas, resulting in retaliation from the England fans. Though I do realise I am reading this from a biased view (namely an English newspaper), but then our media like to portray our fans as animals at any opportunity.

It's not happening with Wales, N Iron or Germany is it. The English are just pure scum who don't know how to behave in another country. Expel em all, barbarians.

"Pure scum" is better than plain old scum at least, correct?

No but it's happening with the Russians, expel them.

It's also happening with the French, just pure scum who don't know how to behave in their own country, expel them.

I hadn't heard about the Russians causing trouble but that bodes well with a load of our fans doing the same ahead of England vs Russia, eh?
